Strict Compliance scores in Monmouth’s Boiling Springs Stakes

Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence’s Strict Compliance scored her first graded stakes win on Saturday at Monmouth Park, closing relentlessly down the stretch and getting up in the final jump to win the $105, 000 Boiling Springs Stakes (G3) by a nose. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Into Mischief, sold for $100,000 by Casse Sales LLC (Justin Casse), Agent for Kinsman Farm, at the 2014 OBS June Sale after turning in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Teresa and David Palmer’s Cajun Schill stepped into stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $300,000 Calumet Farm Juvenile Stakes at Kentucky Downs, rallied wide on the turn then ran past fellow OBS graduate John Q. Public (March ’15) in the final furlong and scored by a length and three quarters. The 2-year-old son of Artie Schiller, trained by Bill Kaplan, is now 4-2-1-1 and has earned $211,660. Rockingham Ranch’s Hollywood Don jumped from a maiden win on the Del Mar turf course into the Saturday’s $101,500 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes and the 2-year-old colt by Tapit came running in the stretch, hit the front at the eighth pole and eased away to win by a length and a half. After an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 at the 2015 OBS April Sale, he was purchased for $245,000 by Rockingham Ranch from de Meric Sales, Agent for Golden Legacy Farm. Tucci Stables’ undefeated Riker is three for three with two stakes wins after leading a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the Woodbine’s $125,750 Swynford Stakes on Saturday from start to finish. Tizzarunner (March ’15) was 2-1/2 lengths back in second, a length in front of Majestic Slew (April ‘15). The 2-year-old son of Include was sold for $60,000 by Paul Sharp, Agent, at the 2015 OBS April Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Curragh Stables’ Neck N Halo captured her first stakes victory on Monday, battling her way to a hard fought neck decision in Woodbine’s $104,000 Avowal Stakes. It’s the second straight win for the 4-year-old filly by Singing Saint, trained by John Terranova, leaving her with an 8-4-1-0 record and $136,249 in earnings. D. J. Stale LLC’s Hi Holiday picked up her first stakes win in Sunday’s $77,500 Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park, closing with a rush from next to last and getting up late to win by a neck. The 2-year-old Harlan’s Holiday filly, trained by Joe Orseno, is two for two and has earned $65,520. She worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before she was purchased for $110,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Riversedge Racing Stables ‘ Bootleggers Wife is now three for three with two stakes wins after coming from just off the pace to win Friday’s $51,850 Bird of Pay Stakes at Northlands Park by 2-3/4 lengths. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) was consigned by Strouds Lane Farm LLC to the 2013 Fall Mixed Sale and sold to Riversedge for $55,000. Trained by Tim Mycroft, she has earned $53,934 to date.

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Fall Mixed Sale is now available on the OBS website at http://obssales.com. The sortable master index provides searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed.

The iPad version of the catalog will be available via the equineline Sales Catalog App. The App allows users to download and view the catalog, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. A total of 464 horses have been cataloged for the Mixed Sale, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 13^th with Hip Numbers 1- 204 selling in the Consignor Preferred session.

Hip Numbers 205 – 464 in the Open Session will be offered on Wednesday, October 14^th followed immediately by the Horses of Racing Age section, which are not included in the main catalog.

The Horses of Racing Age section closes Monday, September 21^st. A catalog for this section will be available on the OBS website, in printed form at the sales grounds and via the equineline Sales Catalog App. An optional Under Tack Show is scheduled for Monday, October 12^th at 10:00 a.m.

Sale sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. As always, the sale and Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website and the Blood-Horse and DRF websites.

Florida-based freshman sires whose progeny are off and running at the races include Adios Charlie, Big Drama, First Dude and Gone Astray, all represented by both weanlings and in-foal mares. Established Florida-based stallions with both mares in foal and weanlings in the sale include High Cotton, Kantharos, Two Step Salsa and With Distinction.

Bellamy Road, Eskendereya, First Samurai, Ghostzapper, Majesticperfection, Munnings and Stormy Atlantic headline the sale’s roster of weanling sires, which also includes freshman sires Archarcharch, Gio Ponti, Paddy O’Prado and Twirling Candy

First crop stallions with weanlings in the sale include Graydar, Overanalyze, Oxbow, Take Charge Indy and Violence along with Florida-based Brethren, Fort Larned, Poseidon’s Warrior, Prospective, Rattlesnake Bridge, Soldat, Treasure Beach (GB) and Winslow Homer.

The sale features mares in foal to an exciting list of up and comers to the stallion ranks, a group that includes Bodemeister, Drosselmeyer, Paynter, Shanghai Bobby, Sidney’s Candy, Stay Thirsty, The Factor and To Honor and Serve. Proven sires Exchange Rate, Macho Uno, Midnight Lute, Temple City and Yes It’s True are also represented with mares in foal.

Ranlo Investments LLC’s Lady Shipman took command of Sunday’s $100, 000 Smart N Fancy Stakes at Saratoga on the turn, then cruised from there to a 2-3/4 length victory in a course record 1:00 2/5 for the 5-1/2 furlongs on the turf. It’s the fourth straight stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by Midshipman, winner of the 2015 OBS Sprint Stakes in track record time last January. Trained by Kathleen O’Connell, she has six stakes wins, a 10-8-0-2 record and has earned $338,800 to date. Joe Ragsdale’s Marquee Miss wasted no time getting a stakes victory, charging from off the pace, taking the lead in the final furlong and capturing Saturday’s $75,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes in her first start by three lengths. The 2-year-old filly by Cowboy Cal was sold by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg & Karen Dodd), Agent, to Mr. Ragsdale for $20,000 at the 2015 OBS June Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Norman Stables LLC and Scott Gelner’s Flashy Appeal picked up her first stakes win on Saturday in the $75,000 Evangeline Downs Starlet Stakes, going head and head for the lead for half a mile before taking charge turning for home and galloping to a seven length victory. The 2-year-old daughter of Flashy Bull was purchased by Mr. Gelner for $9,500 out of the TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric) consignment at the 2014 OBS August Sale. Trained by Scott Gelner, she’s now 5-2-2-0 and has earned $74,794.

Hip No. 735, a bay filly by Big Drama consigned by Abbie Road Farm (Lisa McGreevy), Agent, was sold to Crupi’s New Castle Farm, J. J. Crupi, Agent, for $45,000. She’s out of Bay Point Countess, by Bernstein, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Dawn Princess.

Big Drama also sired Hip No. 728, a bay filly consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent and sold to Quarter Pole Enterprises LLC for $40,000. She’s out of Awesome Thrill, by Awesome Again, from the family of graded stakes placed stakes winner Honey’s Answer.

The session and overall sale topper was Hip No. 214, a daughter of Arch consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, sold to Niall Brennan, Agent for Marc Keller for $320,000. The bay filly is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Citizen Advocate, by Proud Citizen.

Next on the OBS agenda is the Fall Mixed Sale, including the Horses of Racing Age section, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, October 13 – 14. The extended closing date for the Racing Age section is Monday, September 21^st.

She’s out of Morning Sky, by Mt. Livermore, a daughter of graded stakes winner Radiant Megan.

Southern Cypress also consigned Hip No. 351, a daughter of Temple City sold to de Meric Stables, Agent, for $65,000. Hip No. 110, un potro castaño hijo de Maclean’s Music, consignado por Northwest Stud, Agente, fue vendido por $100.000 a Redwings. Su madre es River Glow, media hermana del ganador de clásicos Lucky J.H e hija de In Excess (IRE).

Para hoy, 144 caballos fueron vendidos por un total de $6,609.000, en comparación con 170 potros en las ventas selectas del 2014 equivalentes a $7,830,700. El precio promedio fue de $45,896 frente a $46,063 el año pasado, mientras que la mediana estadística fue de $35.000, cifra idéntica a la alcanzada en el 2014.

Arch filly tops Selected Yearling Sale

Hip No. 214, a daughter of Arch consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, went to Niall Brennan, Agent for Marc Keller for $320,000 to top the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Selected Yearling Sale. The bay filly is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Citizen Advocate, by Proud Citizen.

Hip No. 190, a son of Gemologist consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, was sold to Gary S. Broad for $280,000. The bay colt is out of stakes placed Bailzee, by Grand Slam, a daughter of graded stakes winner Golden Gale.

Hip No. 186, another son of Gemologist consigned by Summerfield, was sold to Patrice Miller, EQB, Inc., Agent for Zayat Stables LLC, for $240,000. The chestnut colt, a half brother to stakes placed True to You, is out of April True, by Yes It’s True.

Summerfield also consigned Hip No. 131, a daughter of The Factor purchased by Quarter Pole Enterprises LLC for $160,000. The gray or roan filly is out of stakes winner Silver Cub, by City Zip, a half sister to stakes winner Silver Heart.

Hip No. 94, a chestnut filly by Hansen consigned by Select Sales, Agent, went to W.D. North Thoroughbreds LLC for $110,000. She’s out of Point Empress, by Empire Maker, from the family of graded stakes winner Fair Judgement.

Hip No. 202, a bay filly by Scat Daddy consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, was sold for $150,000 to de Meric Stables, Agent. She’s out of stakes placed Bridge and Tunnel, by Lemon Drop Kid, a daughter of stakes placed Devious Dame.

Avanzare regresa y se lleva el Del Mar Handicap de Una Milla

Avanzare, de Donato Lanni y John F.
