Cheyenne Stables LLC and Mac Nichol’s Madefromlucky was wide and out of trouble in the early going of the $750, 000 West Virginia Derby (G2) at Mountaineer Park, but he circled horses on the turn for home, surged to the lead at the eighth pole and eased away from there to win by a length and a half. Fellow OBS graduate War Story (March ’14) checked in third. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Lookin At Lucky, trained by Todd Pletcher. He captured Belmont’s Peter Pan Stakes (G2) in May after chasing Triple Crown winner American Pharoah at Oaklawn in the Rebel Stakes (G2) in March. Four Horsemen Racing Stable and Lady Lindsay Racing Stables’ Bullet Gone Astray is two for two and a stakes winner after running away in the stretch of the $100,000 Mountaineer Juvenile Stakes and scoring by nine lengths over fellow OBS graduate Save the Drama (October’13).  The 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Gone Astray, trained by Henry Collazo, has earned $89,500. Newtown Anner Stud and Joseph Bulger’s Falling Sky moved up to take command of Saturday’s $75,000 Trinniberg Stakes at Gulfstream at the top of the stretch, opened up daylight a furlong from home then held off a late challenge to win by a head. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 5-year-old graded stakes winning son of Lion Heart, who topped the Horses of Racing Age section of the 2013 OBS Winter Mixed Sale when purchased for $425,000 out of the Off the Hook consignment. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and Green Smith’s Wild Dude relaxed off the early pace in Sunday’s $300, 000 Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) at Del Mar, but came running in the stretch, charged past odds-on favorite Masochistic in the final yards and captured his first grade one race by a length and quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Kobe’s Back (March ’13), who lost all chance with a poor start, rallied to be third. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Wildcat Heir, now 16-6-3-4 with earnings of $724,887. A two-time OBS graduate, he was sold first by Perrone Sales, Agent, at the 2010 Fall Mixed Sale and then resold for $42,000 by Costanzo Sales after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 at the 2012 April Sale. Conquest Stables’ Conquest Pacemaker jumped into stakes company straight from a maiden win and handled the raise in class with ease, taking the lead at the start of Sunday’s $131,500 Toronto Cup Stakes at Woodbine and never looking back en route to a 1-1/2 length victory. The 3-year-old son of Eskendereya, trained by Mark Casse, is now 3-2-0-1 and has earned $88,984. A two time OBS graduate, he was sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2013 August Yearling Sale before he was purchased for $150,000 out of the Casse Sales LLC (Justin Casse) consignment at the 2014 March Sale after working an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Cheyenne Stables’ Stormy Regatta picked up her first stakes win on Sunday in the first division of $58,800 Little Silver Stakes on the turf at Monmouth Park. The 3-year-old daughter of Midshipman circled horses on the turn, reached the leaders in midstretch and fought her way to victory by a nose. Trained by Christophe Clement, she’s now 5-3-0-1 and has earned $84,200. Consigned by Santa Fe Thoroughbreds to the 2014 OBS June Sale, she breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.  watch her under tack video

Riversedge Racing Stables LLC captured a pair of stakes with OBS graduates at Northlands Park over the weekend. On Friday, Bootleggers Wife scored her second win in as many starts, taking charge of Friday’s $55,500 Princess Margaret Stakes in the stretch and running off to an 11-3/4 length victory. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) was sold for $55,000 by Strouds Lane Farm LLC at the 2013 Fall Mixed Sale. Trained by Tim Mycroft, she has earned $29,649 to date.   

On Saturday Mycroft saddled Hold the Giant, also two for two, who stalked the leaders in the $50,000 Edmonton Juvenile Stakes, put them away in the stretch and drew  off to win by two lengths. The 2-year-old colt by Hold Me Back was purchased for$25,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2014 August Yearling Sale. He has earned $29,804.   

Choctaw Racing Stable, Winning Horse Stable and Scott Galloway’s Hebbronville picked up his first stakes win at Monmouth Park on Saturday, rallying from last in the field of six and getting up in the final yards to win the $101,000 Jersey Shore Stakes (G3) by a neck. It’s the second straight win for the 3-year-old colt by Majesticperfection, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2014 OBS March Sale where he worked an eighth in:10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Michael House’s Big John B took charge turning for home in Del Mar’s $100,000 Cougar II Handicap (G3) on Friday, opened up a length in the stretch then held on for a half length victory. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 6-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Hard Spun, trained by Philip D’Amato, now 33-13-5-4 with earnings of $567,175. Tucci Stables’ Riker is two for two and a stakes winner after taking the lead at the start of Saturday’s $98,500 Colin Stakes at Woodbine and staying there to the wire, scoring a half length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Tizzarunner (March ’15) checked in third. The 2-year-old son of Include, trained by Nicholas Gonzalez, has earned $84,154 to date. Pinnacle Racing Stable LLC, R. Norman, Roger L. Justice & H. Jack Hendricks’ My Point Exactly set the pace in Saturday’s $75,000 Bear’s Den Stakes at Gulfstream, surrendered the lead in the stretch, then came again and was up in the final strides to win by a head. It’s the third stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Concord Point, purchased for $65,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after breezing a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Sam Britt and Michael House’s Gabriel Charles had a bit of early trouble in Saturday’s $400, 000 Eddie Read Stakes (G1) Stakes on the turf at Del Mar, but he rallied down the stretch, took command a sixteenth from home and drew off to a 3-3/4 length victory. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Street Hero, winner of the Del Mar Derby (G2) at three and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Preview Stakes at two. The victory is the third straight by an OBS graduate in the Eddie Read (G1). August Yearling Sale graduate Jeranimo took the 2013 renewal and March grad Tom’s Tribute captured the race a year ago. Gabriel Charles was purchased on the recommendation of Gary Young by Mr. House for $160,000 out of the Price Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2012 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Alex and JoAnn Lieblong’s High Dollar Woman took the lead at the start of the $206,900 Indiana Oaks (G2) at Indiana Grand Race Course on Saturday and stayed there all the way, winning her first stakes race by a length. The 3-year-old filly by Super Saver, trained by Steve Hobby, is now 7-3-1-0 and has earned $210,945 to date. A pair of OBS April graduates celebrated opening day at Del Mar with a one-two finish in the $116, 000 Oceanside Stakes, as Jeffrey Bloom’s Soul Driver  rallied from last in the ten horse field, caught front running Forest Blue (April ’14) in the final yards and scored by a nose. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Street Boss, sold for $60,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after working a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. For the second straight year, a weanling by leading Japanese sire Deep Impact (JPN) out of two-time OBS graduate Weemissfrankie made headlines, topping  Tuesday’s Japan Racing Horse Association Select Sale of yearlings and foals. Consigned by Northern Farm, the bay filly was sold to Danox Co. for $1,458,000. Her full brother, also consigned by Northern Farm, was sold at the same sale a year ago, going for $1,372,550 to Ryouichi Ootuka.  Tuesday’s sale topper is the second foal out of Weemissfrankie, by Sunriver, consigned first by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2010 August Sale before she was sold for $175,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, to Joe Ciaglia at the 2011 April Sale. Trained by Peter Eurton and racing for Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stables, Ciaglia Racing LLC & Ron Dyrdek, she won three of five starts including the Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1) and the Oak Leaf Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita. 

Kaleem Shah’s Fantastic Style romped to her first graded stakes win on Saturday at Los Alamitos, taking charge of the $200, 750 Great Lady M Stakes (G2) after turning for home and drawing away to a 3-1/2 length victory. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by Harlan’s Holiday, purchased for $525,000 by Donato Lanni, Agent, out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Yukio Baba’s millionaire Best Warrior defended his title in the Procyon Stakes (G3) on Sunday at Chukyo Racecourse in Japan, charging between horses in deep stretch and drawing away to a two length score.  (race video) It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old horse by Majestic Warrior, now 19-8-4-2 with earnings of $2,309,753. Ballybrit Stable, LLC’s Gallery found Belmont’s turf course to his linking on Sunday, taking  the lead at the start and holding on gamely to win the $95,000 Manila Stakes by a nose. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Munnings, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $30,000 out of the Halcyon Hammock consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale. Ranlo Investments LLC’s Lady Shipman took on older fillies and mares in Sunday’s $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes on the Monmouth Park turf course and after leading from the start, the 3-year-old daughter of Midshipman drew off in the stretch and rolled to a 6-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Jewel of a Cat (April ’12). Winner of the 2015 OBS Sprint Stakes in track record time, she was consigned by Pleasant Acres Farm, Agent, to the 2014 OBS April Sale, where she sped an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Bernard G. Schaeffer’s Henny Jenney rallied from just off the pace to take charge of Sunday’s $78,500 Northern Fling Stakes at Presque Isle Downs a sixteenth from home and she eased away from there to a three quarter length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Henny Hughes, purchased by Tim Kegel, Agent, for $100,000 out of the Mayberry Farm consignment at the 2013 OBS April Sale after an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Joe Ragsdale’s Sarah Sis went right to the lead at the start of the $200, 000 Iowa Oaks (G3) at Prairie Meadows on Saturday and stayed there to the wire, winning by a nose and scoring her second graded stakes win. That’s two straight stakes wins and three overall for the 3-year-old Sharp Humor filly, who captured Oaklawn’s Honeybee Stakes (G3) in March. Trained by Ingrid Mason, she’s now 10-5-3-0 and has earned $379,400.
