Into Mischief colt fastest at June’s third Under Tack session

Hip No. 509, a bay colt by Into Mischief consigned by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC worked a quarter in :20 3/5, posting the fastest work at the distance at the third session of the Under Tack Show for the 2015 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. He’s out of Kiss the King, by Roman Ruler, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner As You Like.

Hip No. 469, a bay colt by Majesticperfection consigned by McKathan Bros., Agent, sped the fastest eighth, stopping the timer in :9 4/5. He’s out of stakes winner Into Reality, by Untuttable, and is a half brother to stakes winner Meadowood.

Hip No. 491, Jules of the Nile, a bay filly by Yesbyjimminy consigned by Golden Noguez Stars, worked the day’s fastest three eighths, clocked in :33 2/5. She’s out of Julias Gentle Girl, by Werblin, a half sister to stakes placed Rakoon.

Two youngsters breezed quarters in :20 4/5.

Hip No. 445, a chestnut filly by Malibu Moon consigned by Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl), Agent, is out of Holy Princess, by Holy Bull, and is a half sister to stakes winner Silver Heart.

Coach Inge, Channel Marker score graded wins at Belmont Park

Repole Stable’s Coach Inge held off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate V. E. Day and won the $400, 000 Brooklyn Invitational Stakes (G2)  on Saturday at Belmont by a neck. Both horses were consigned by Eddie Woods to the 2013 OBS March Sale, with the winner going to Repole Stable for $150, 000 after a quarter in :21 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Todd Pletcher, the 4-year-old gelding by Big Brown picked up his first stakes win and is now 10-4-2-1 with $376,177 in earnings. watch his under tack video

Rigney Racing’s Channel Marker came running late, took command inside the final sixteenth and won Belmont’s $300,000 Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G3) by a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 6-year-old gelded son of Purim, trained by Philip Bauer. Purchased for $130,000 out of the Paul Sharp consignment at the 2011 OBS April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, he’s now 17-4-5-2 and has earned $361,846 to date. watch his under tack video

Ranlo Investments LLC’s Lady Shipman went to the lead at the start of Saturday’s $60,000 Crank It Up Stakes on the turf course at Monmouth and never looked back en route to a 1-1/2 length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Harlan’s Honor (April ’14) checking in third. That’s three stakes scores for the 3-year-old daughter of Midshipman, winner of the 2015 OBS Sprint in track record time. Trained by Kathleen O’Connell, she’s now 7-5-0-2 with $184,600 in earnings. She was consigned by Pleasant Acres Farm, Agent, to the 2014 OBS April Sale where she sped an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. watch her under tack video

June Sale Under Tack Show begins Monday

The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age begins Monday, June 8th and continues through Saturday, June 13th.  All six sessions begin at 7:30 a.m.

The Under Tack Show will be divided into six sessions, scheduled for Monday, June 8th through Saturday, June 13th, with each session beginning at 7:30 a.m. Hip No.’s 1 – 191 will breeze on Monday, Hip No.’s 192 – 382 go on Tuesday, Hip No.’s 383 – 572 will work on Wednesday, Hip No.’s 573 – 767 will go on Thursday, Hip No.’s 768 – 962 breeze Friday and Hip No.’s 963 – 1166 will go on Saturday. The final session includes the 33 horses in the supplemental catalog, which can be viewed in the OBS website and via the equineline Sales Catalog iPad App. Printed supplemental catalogs will be available at the sales grounds.

There are 1,115 two-year-olds and 49 older horses cataloged for the four-day sale, set for Tuesday June 16th through Friday, June 19th, with all four sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m.

As always, the sale and Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com, and also via the Blood-Horse and DRF websites. Alsvid captures Churchill’s Aristides Stakes

Black Hawk Stable’s Alsvid spoiled reigning sprint champion Work All Week’s 2015 debut in Churchill’s $100, 000 Aristides Stakes (G3) on Saturday, charging past him in the stretch and drawing off to a two length victory. It’s the third straight win and second graded stakes score for the Chris Hartman trained 6-year-old son of Officer, sold for $55,000 by Stephens Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale after he sped an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. With nine stakes wins to his credit, he has earned $994,225 to date and his record stands at 30-13-7-3. watch his under tack video

Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence’s Strict Compliance stepped into stakes company for the first time in the $150,000 Penn Oaks at Penn National on Saturday, and the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Into Mischief rallied to edge fellow OBS graduate Quality Rocks (August ’13) by half a length for her third straight win. Trained by Chad Brown, her first stakes victory leaves her with a 4-3-1-0 record and earnings of $160,100. She was sold for $100,000 by Casse Sales LLC (Justin Casse), Agent for Kinsman Farm at the 2014 OBS June Sale after turning in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Joe Ragsdale’s Sarah Sis took control of Saturday’s $75,000 Panthers Stakes at Prairie Meadows at the break and stayed in front all the way, reporting home first by a length and three quarters, with fellow OBS graduate Magnolia Steel (June ’14) checking in third. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Sharp Humor, winner of Oaklawn’s Honeybee Stakes (G3) earlier this year. She was purchased for $20,000 by Mr. Ragsdale out of the Doble Jak consignment at the 2014 OBS June Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in:10 1/5. June Sale supplemental catalog now online

The supplemental catalog to the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age is now available on the company’s website at obssales.com.

One older horse and 32 Two-Year-Olds have been supplemented and will sell after the older horse section as Hip No’s 1134 – 1165 on the sale’s fourth day, Friday, June 19th.  The supplemental catalog will be available at the sales grounds and on the OBS website.  All supplemented horses will breeze at the sixth Under Tack session on Saturday, June 13th.

There are 1,115 two-year-olds and 48 older horses cataloged for the four-day OBS sale, set for Tuesday June 16th through Friday, June 19th, with all sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Distinctiv Passion, Majestic City post Memorial Day graded wins

Edward J.  Brown, Jr., Alan Klein and Phillip Lebherz’s Distinctiv Passion bounced right to the lead in the $100, 000 Los Angeles Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita on Memorial Day, led by daylight into deep stretch, then held off a late charge by favored San Onofre and scored by a neck. Fellow OBS graduate Wild Dude (April ’12, October ’10) checked in third. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of With Distinction, trained by Jeff Bonde, now 18-9-1-4 with $513,660 in earnings. Jeffrey Bloom’s Majestic City battled for the lead from the start of Monday’s $200,000 Lone Star Park Handicap (G3), refused to yield in to the stretch then eased away in the final sixteenth and won by two lengths. His second graded win and fourth stakes score gives the 6-year-old son of City Zip, trained by Richard Baltas, a 25-5-4-4 record and $579,210 in earnings. Peter Redekop’s Go West Marie added Santa Anita’s $125,750 Fran’s Valentine Stakes to her resume on Saturday, circling horses on the turn to get into contention, taking command in the final furlong and winning by a length and a quarter. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 4-year-old graded stakes placed Western Fame filly, sold for $52,000 by Mayberry Farm, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Eddie Truman, she’s now 20-7-2-5 and has earned $557,520. watch her under tack video 

West Point Thoroughbreds’ Empire Dreams had one horse beaten on the turn in Monday’s $200,000 Commentator Stakes at Belmont, but he came to the outside turning for home, passed the rest of the field in the stretch, and posted a three quarter length victory. Trained by Tom Albertrani, the 4-year-old colt by Patriot Act has compiled a 13-4-5-1 record with three stakes wins and $463,667 in earnings. Consigned to the 2013 OBS April Sale by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, he was purchased by West Point for $35,000 after working an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5.  watch his under tack video

Stopchargingmaria romps in Pimlico’s Allaire DuPont Distaff Stakes

Town & Country Farms’ Stopchargingmaria swept three wide toward the lead on the turn of Friday’s $150, 000 Allaire DuPont Distaff Stakes (G3) at Pimlico, took charge after straightening away in the stretch and cruised to a four length victory. The 4-year-old daughter of Tale of the Cat, trained by Todd Pletcher, is now 13-7-3-1 with five graded stakes wins and earnings of $1, 654,000. She was acquired from Repole Stables, who purchased her for $220,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment after she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the 2013 OBS March Sale’s Under Tack Show.  watch her under tack video

James A. Bryan, Jr.’s Celestine stayed on the fence while chasing front running fellow OBS graduate Lady Shipman (April ’14) in Belmont’s $98,000 Wait a While Stakes on Saturday, collared her a sixteenth from the wire and scored by a length and a half. Woody Weeks’ Woodwin W is four for four and a stakes winner after charging from off the pace to take Saturday’s $100,000 James W. Murphy Stakes on the Pimlico turf course. The 3-year-old gelded son of More Than Ready brought $12,000 when purchased as a Horse of Racing Age at the 2014 OBS Fall Mixed Sale after breezing a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Kaleem Shah’s Fantastic Style picked up her first stakes win in The $79,000 Angels Flight Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday, taking the lead at the start leading all the way en route to a 3-1/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Ben’s Duchess (August ’13) checked in third. The lightly raced 3-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday, trained by Bob Baffert, is now 5-3-1-1 and has earned $152,000. She turned in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 before being purchased for $525,000 by Donato Lanni, Agent, out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale.  watch her under tack video

Madefromlucky wins Belmont’s Peter Pan Stakes

Cheyenne Stables LLC and Mac Nichol’s Madefromlucky swept past the favorites to the front a furlong from home in Saturday’s $200, 000 Peter Pan Stakes (G2) and went on from there to score by a length and a half. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Lookin At Lucky, second to Derby winner American Pharoah in Oaklawn’s Rebel Stakes (G2) in March. Trained by Todd Pletcher, he’s now 8-3-2-1 with $378,700 in earnings. He was purchased by Mr. Nichol for $150,000 out of the Crupi’s New Castle Farm consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Success Racing’s Sky Preacher picked up his first stakes win in the $75,000 Golden Poppy Stakes at Golden Gate Sunday, going to the lead at the start, staying there all the way and holding on to win by a nose.  Trained by Doug O’Neill, the 3-year-old son of Sky Mesa was purchased for $80,000 by Russell Smith out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2014 March Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. He’s now 7-2-2-0 and has earned $114,570 to date. watch his under tack video

Ike and Dawn Thrash & Sam and Janet Alley’s Katie’s Eyes made it four wins in a row Saturday, charging from well off the pace to take the lead in deep stretch and win Churchill’s $66,029 Unbridled Sidney Stakes by a length and a quarter.  It’s the second straight stakes win for the graded stakes placed 4-year-old filly by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ), trained by Michael Stidham, leaving her 10-5-0-3 with $207,941 in earnings.  She was sold for $75,000 by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, at the 2012 OBS August Sale.

OBS June Catalog now online

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age  is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com. The website features a sortable master index for the catalog and pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed.

The iPad version of the catalog will be available beginning Tuesday, May 12th via the equineline Sales Catalog App. The App allows users to download and view the catalog, receive updates and results, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. There are 1,085 two-year-olds and 46 older horses cataloged for the four-day sale, set for Tuesday June 16th through Friday, June 19th, with all sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m. Supplemental nominations are being accepted until May 22rd.

The Under Tack Show will be divided into six sessions, scheduled for Monday, June 8th through Saturday, June 13th, with each session beginning at 7:30 a.m. Hip No.’s 1 – 191 will breeze on Monday, Hip No.’s 192 – 382 go on Tuesday, Hip No.’s 383 – 572 will work on Wednesday, Hip No.’s 573 – 767 will go on Thursday, Hip No.’s 768 – 962 breeze Friday and Hip No.’s 963 – 1132 plus any horses supplemented to the sale will go on Saturday. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF and BloodHorse websites. 

The June Sale has grown in lockstep with the March and April Sales, making OBS the leader in the two-year-old sale market. Two time Breeders’ Cup winner Goldencents and reigning Florida-bred Horse of the Year Wildcat Red are June graduates, joining the extensive roster of OBS two-year-old sale graduates competing and winning at the highest levels of the game. Since the beginning of 2015, sixteen are graded stakes winners: Alsvid, Avanzare, Calculator, Carpe Diem, Conquest Two Step, Ekati’s Phaeton, Feathered, Jack Milton, Kobe’s Back, Night Prowler, Ocean Knight, Parranda, Sarah Sis, Secret Circle, Stephanie’s Kitten and Wild Dude.
