Harlan’s Holiday filly, Street Cry (IRE) colt quickest at Spring Sale Under Tack finale

A filly by Harlan’s Holiday and a colt by Street Cry (IRE) filly worked eighths in :9/4 to share honors for the fastest works at the distance at the sixth and final session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Spring Sale of Two Year Olds in Training. 

The Harlan’s Holiday bay filly, Hip No. 1032, consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, is out of Favoritism, by Tiznow, a daughter of graded stakes placed Chaste.

 The gray or roan Street Cry (IRE) colt, Hip No. 1073, consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent for Golden Legacy Stables, is out of Gharbiah, by Bernardini, a half sister to graded one winner Honey Ryder.

The sale’s only other eighth in :9 4/5 was turned in on Thursday by Hip No. 692, a bay filly by Lemon Drop Kid consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent. She’s out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Yonagucci, by Yonaguska.

He hit the front a furlong from home and drew off to a 2-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Aripeka (April ’12). It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old son of War Front, trained by Todd Pletcher, now 15-5-1-5 with $751,161 in earnings. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 6-year-old son of Officer, trained by Chris Hartman. Frank Fletcher Racing Operations Inc.’s Wolf Man Rocket had yet to win prior to the $100,000 Northern Spur Stakes at Oaklawn on Saturday, but  the 3-year-old son of Mineshaft came from last to first, hit the front in the final furlong and broke his maiden in style by a length and three quarters. Ike and Dawn Thrash & Sam and Janet Alley’s Katie’s Eyes sat just off the pace in Saturday’s $100,000 Giant’s Causeway Stakes at Keeneland, came after the leaders in the stretch and drew away in the final sixteenth to win by 2-1/2 lengths. It’s the third straight win and first stakes victory for the 4-year-old filly by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ), sold for $75,000 by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, at the 2012 OBS August Sale. Trained by Michael Stidham, she’s now 9-4-0-3 with earnings of $168,161.

Spring Sale’s Under Tack Show starts Monday

The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training begins Monday, April 13th, and continues through Saturday, April 18th.  All six sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Hip No.’s 1-200 will breeze on Monday, Hip No.’s 201-400 go to the track Tuesday; Hip No’s 401-600 breeze Wednesday, Hip No’s 601-800 work Thursday, Hip No.’s 801-1000 breeze Friday and Hip No’s 1001-1203 will go to the track Saturday.

The Spring Sale is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st through Friday, April 24th with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m. Hip No’s 1-300 go on the block Tuesday, Hip No’s 301-600 will be offered Wednesday, Hip No.’s 601-900 sell Thursday and Hip No’s. 901-1203 will sell on Friday.

The Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and via the Blood-Horse and Daily Racing Form websites. The workouts will also be recorded and videos will be available on the website, in their entirety or by individual hip number. WinStar Farm LLC and Stonestreet Stables LLC’s Carpe Diem will go to the Kentucky Derby (G1) as one of the favorites after chasing fellow OBS graduate Ocho Ocho Ocho (April ’14) into the stretch of Keeneland’s $1, 000, 000 Blue Grass Stakes (G1), taking command a furlong from home and drawing off to three length victory. Ocho Ocho Ocho settled for third. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Giant’s Causeway, trained by Todd Pletcher, now 5-4-1-0 and the newest millionaire OBS graduate with earnings of $1,519,800.
