Online entries for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2020 Open Sale of Yearlings may be made on the OBS website at: OBS Yearling entries. The Open Yearling Sale is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, October 14th and 15th.
Conventional printed Consignor Contracts are also available at the sales grounds or may be downloaded from the OBS website, filled out and returned via email, fax or US mail.
In response to market demand, OBS will hold a Two-Year-Olds in Training & Horses of Racing Age section with an Under Tack Show in conjunction with the October Sale. Online and conventional Consignor Contracts will also be available via the OBS website and at the sales office. Entries for the both the Open Yearling Sale and Two-Year-Old section will close August 3rd.
Nominations for the 2020 October Selected Sale of Yearlings can still be made at: October Nomination Form. The Selected Sale is set for Tuesday, October 13th.

M and M Racing’s (Mike Sisk) Fool’s Paradise trailed early in Sunday’s $75,000 Lone Star Park Turf Stakes, but overcame trouble on the turn, came out for the drive and rallied to be up late and prevailed by three quarters of a length. It’s the first stakes victory for the 5-year-old daughter of Pioneerof the Nile, purchased for $130,000 out of the Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. The sale has been rescheduled from its original June dates, with all sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m. Hip No.’s 1 – 360 will sell on Tuesday, July 14th; Hip No.’s 361 – 720 will be offered on Wednesday, July 15th and Hip No.’s 721 – 1003 plus supplements 1004 – 1107 will sell on Thursday, July 16th.

For the day, 161 horses brought a total of $18,514,500 compared with 155 selling for a total of $16,728,000 last year. The average price was $114,997, up 6.5% compared to $107,923 in 2019, while the median price was $50,000, identical to last year’s figure. The buyback percentage was 15.7%; it was 22.5% in 2019.
For the entire sale, 635 horses sold for a total of $58,905,000 compared with 674 horses bringing a sale record $72,945,000 in 2019. The average price was $92,764, compared with 2019’s sale record $108,227. The median was $50,000 compared with last year’s record $60,000. The buyback percentage was 18.4%; it was 19.8% a year ago.
The overall sale topper was Hip No. 1254, a daughter of Not This Time consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, sold to Gary Young for $1,350,000 to top the sale’s second session. Hip No. 1262, a son of Runhappy consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, went to Jerry Durant for $435,000. The dark bay or brown colt who worked a quarter in :21 flat on Tuesday, is a half brother to stakes winner Ready for Romance out of Strange Romance, by Mr. Greeley.
Bridlewood Farm went to $400,000 for Hip No. 524, a daughter of Kantharos consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent. The dark bay or brown filly, who worked a quarter in :20 4/5 on Tuesday, is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Stormy Regatta, by Midshipman, from the family of graded stakes winner Utopian.
Hip No. 421, a daughter of No Nay Never consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, went to Meah/Lloyd Bloodstock, Agent for Promenade Bloodstock for $350,000. The Irish-bred bay filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 on Tuesday, is a full sister to grade one stakes winner Ten Sovereigns out of stakes placed Seeking Solace (GB).
Hip No. 468, a daughter of Empire Maker consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, went to Arman Shah for $350,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who turned in a quarter in :21 2/5, is out of Smart N Soft, by Smart strike, a daughter of graded stakes winner Softly.
Hip No. 560, a daughter of Twirling Candy consigned by Costanzo Sales, was sold to Three Amigos for $350,000. The dark bay or brown filly out of Tale Untold, by Tale of the Cat, a half sister to graded stakes placed I’m in Love, worked a quarter in :10 flat at Wednesday’s Under Tack session.
Hip No. 388, a daughter of The Factor consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was sold to John P. Fort for $320,000. The gray or roan filly, who worked an eighth on Tuesday in :10 flat, is a half sister to stakes placed Starving Artist out of stakes winner Salary Drive, by Mizzen Mast.
For the day, 143 horses brought a total of $15,209,000 compared with 183 selling for a total of $22,902,500 at last year’s second session. The average price was $106,357, compared to $125,150 in 2019 while the median price was $57,000, compared with $75,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 26.7%; it was 16% last year.
