Larry Pratt and Dave Alden’s Doctor Mounty took the lead at the start of Laurel’s $100,000 Henry S. Clark Stakes and never looked back, opening up in the stretch and coasting to victory by a length and three quarters. That’s four stakes wins for the 7-year-old graded stakes winning son of Street Sense, now 35-9-5-5 with earnings of $572,228 for trainer Shug McGaughey. Monster Racing Stables’ The Critical Way battled for the lead from the start of Parx Racing’s $88,000 Marshall Jenny Stakes, took charge on the turn and drew away down the stretch to a 4-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 6-year-old son of Tizway, trained by Jose Delgado, now 18-5-4-0 with $254,143 in earnings. After an awkward break, the 2-year-old daughter of Not This Time sat just off the early pace, came around the leaders to take charge after turning for home and drew off in hand down the stretch. Sierra Racing & Sterling Stables LLC’s Raymundos Secret led from gate to wire in Saturday’s $151,500 John C. Mabee Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, holding off a late charge and winning by a neck. Terry Hamilton and Brian Lynch’s Tobys Heart is two for two and a stakes winner after a rousing victory in the $85,000 Bolton Landing Stakes Wednesday at Saratoga, the ninth stakes win by an OBS graduate at the meeting. Big E Stables LLC’s Blissful Change took the lessons learned in a troubled July debut on the Keeneland turf course to good use on Tuesday at Indiana Grand Race Course. The 2-year-old filly by Treasure Beach (GB) took charge of an off the turf maiden special weight test three furlongs out, turned back a challenge from the favorite turning from home and drew away to a 9-1/4 length victory for trainer Joe Sharp. A three time OBS graduate, she was sold by Kim Harrison (Top Speed Farm), Agent, at the 2019 Winter Mixed Sale and went through the ring, consigned by Summerfield, at the 2019 October Selected Yearling Sale. Erich G. Brehm’s My Girl Red is two for two and a graded stakes winner after setting a pressured early pace in Friday’s $150,500 Sorrento Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, shaking loose going to the turn and then drawing away down the stretch to beat fellow OBS graduate Get On the Bus (March ’20) by 4-3/4 lengths. Trained by Keith Desormeaux, the 2-year-old filly by Texas Red has earned $120,000 to date. Raj Jagnanan’s American Sailor was awarded victory via disqualification in Saturday’s $200,000 Troy Stakes (G3) at Saratoga. It’s the first stakes win for American Sailor and the first graded win for trainer Wayne Potts, leaving the 8-year-old gelding by City Zip with a 45-15-9-3 career record and earnings of $568,264. Sandin Syndicate Stable LLC’s Pico d’Oro was a maiden going into Sunday’s $100,000 Runhappy Juvenile Stakes at Ellis Park but a stakes winner at the finish. The 2-year-old colt by Curlin was last of seven early, rallied four wide down the stretch, caught the leaders in the final sixteenth and ran on by to score by two lengths. At the 2020 OBS March Sale, he sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5 before he was purchased out of the Eddie Woods consignment for $255,000. Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company, Inc. has cancelled the 2020 OBS Day of Racing, scheduled to be held on November 24, 2020.
The restrictions and protocols implemented by racetracks due to the Covid-19 situation have created limited availability of racing personnel which prevents OBS from conducting these races in a safe responsible manner. Racetracks in Florida and throughout the country have policies in place which do not allow jockeys to move freely between tracks. Testing and quarantine requirements for jockeys that travel away from their home racetrack will inhibit their participation at OBS.
“With Gulfstream Park preparing for its championship meet and Tampa Bay Downs starting Thanksgiving weekend, it is important for racing in Florida to continue uninterrupted”, stated OBS President Tom Ventura. “OBS will evaluate potential future dates for racing that complements the racing calendar. “

Live racing returns on Tuesday, November 24th. Two sprint stakes for OBS Sale graduates headline the day. Free nominations to both races close on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. The strategic position on the calendar provides horsemen a stakes opportunity before the kickoff of the Gulfstream Park Championship and the Tampa Bay Downs meets. The two OBS stakes are non-wagering events, but there will be pari-mutuel wagering available on eight additional races. Entries will be taken on Tuesday, November 17th.
The OBS Sprint and the OBS Filly and Mare Sprint are for three years old and upward. Both stakes races will be run over six furlongs, each with a guaranteed purse of $125,000, restricted to OBS graduates. Entries will be taken on Tuesday, November 17th. Both races will be run as non-wagering events. The eight pari-mutuel races will feature quarter horse races for two year olds as well as for three years old and upward at distances from 220 yards to 440 yards. Up to four thoroughbred maiden and starter allowance races may be used as substitute races. Purses range from $4,000 to $7,000 with all starters guaranteed a minimum of $200.
