Sam Sparkle captures the Hunch Stakes at Aqueduct

Chandoha’s Sam Sparkle tried stakes company for the first time in Sunday’s $57, 000 Hunch Stakes at Aqueduct and scored by half a length. It’s the second win in 14 starts this year for the 3-year-old Florida-bred son of Too Much Bling, sold by Top Line Sales, Agent, at the 2009 OBS August Sale before being purchased for $55,000 out of the W. Angelofdistinction takes Tampa’s Inaugural Stakes

Brenda Tabraue & Andrea’s Farm’s Angelofdistinction, ignored at odds of better than 21-1, caught Pomeroys Pistol’s half brother (and fellow OBS graduate) Wildcat Creek (August ’10) at the wire to win Saturday’s $75, 000 Inaugural Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs by a head. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred With Distinction gelding, sold for $7,500 by Tara Stables, Agent, at the 2010 OBS August Sale. He’s now 7-2-0-2 and has earned $85,818.

Pomeroys Pistol takes Gulfstream’s Sugar Swirl Stakes

Hardacre Farm’s Pomeroys Pistol had little trouble racking up her third graded stakes win, scoring by two lengths in Gulfstream’s $100, 000 Sugar Swirl Stakes (G3) on Saturday. That’s four stakes wins in ten starts this year for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Pomeroy, consigned by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2009 OBS August Yearling Sale. The win gives her a 13-5-3-2 record and earnings of $570,178.
