Rose to Gold takes the Houston Ladies Classic

Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele Centofani’s Rose to Gold is closing in on a million after shipping to Texas and taking Saturday’s $400, 000 Houston Ladies Classic Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park. It’s the sixth stakes win for the 4-year-old filly by Friends Lake, now 11-6-1-0 with earnings of $963, 509. She was consigned by Karrington Stables, Agent, to the 2011 OBS August Sale. 

Jennifer Harries’ Evolution Rocks picked up his first stakes win on Saturday at Calder, taking the lead at the start and staying there all the way en route to a 2-1/4 length victory in the $65,000 Thrillin Discovery Handicap. Sold for $14,000 by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2010 OBS August Sale, the 5-year-old Florida-bred gelding by City Zip is now 23-8-4-1 with $148,110 in earnings.

David Wolochuk, Patrick Dale Montoya and Blue Snow Racing Stables’ Ramona’s Wildcat is two for two and a stakes winner after a front-running 9-1/2 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Let Her Dance (April ’13) in the $50,080 El Paso Times Handicap on Saturday at Sunland Park. A two-time OBS graduate, the 3-year-old Wildcat Heir filly, who has earned $40,740 to date, was sold first by Pelican State Thoroughbreds at the 2012 August Sale. She was then resold for $125,000 by Indian Prairie Ranch, Agent, at the 2013 April Sale after speeding a quarter in :20 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Suroof tops Winter Mixed Sale’s Open Session

Hip No. 763, Suroof, a broodmare prospect by Empire Maker consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, went to Julio Rada, Agent, for $57,000 top the Open Session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Winter Mixed Sale. The 7-year-old bay mare, who earned $156,831, is out of Amber Token, by Hennessy, a half sister to graded stakes winner Token Dance.

Hip No. 615, Porspoder (IRE), a 4-year-old winning daughter of Dalakhani consigned by Eversole Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold to Calumet Farm for $55,000. Out of grade one stakes placed New Story, by Dynaformer, the gray or roan filly is a half sister to graded stakes winner New Girlfriend (IRE).

Calumet also bought Hip No. 845, a yearling colt by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) consigned by Sue Vacek, Agent. The chestnut colt is out of Ellenville, by Carson City, a daughter of stakes winner Water Street.

Hip No. 723, Fire Fire Fire, a colt by First Dude consigned by Southern Cypress Stable LLC, Agent, was sold to Honeygrove Farm for $47,000. The yearling bay colt is out of Tigress Express, by Polish Numbers, and is a half brother to stakes placed Pensylvaniaexpress.

Hip No. 843, a Wildcat Heir filly consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, went to Machmer Hall for $42,000. The yearling bay filly is out of stakes placed Earthquake Ride, by Meadowlake.

Rustlewood Farm paid $40,000 for Hip No. 664, a son of Big Drama also consigned by Summerfield. The gray or roan yearling colt is out of Samantha O, by Unbridled’s Song, and is a half sister to stakes placed Risk Factor.

For the Open Session, 208 horses sold for a total of $1,785,900 compared with 169 horses grossing a total of $1,199,600 the corresponding session in 2013. The average price was $8,586, up 20.9% compared with $7,098 a year ago while the median price was $5,000, a gain of 19% compared with $4,200 in 2013. The buyback percentage was 26.2%; it was 31.8% last year.

At Tuesday’s Consignor Preferred session, 153 horses sold for total of $2,957,700 compared with 98 horses grossing $1,726,900 in 2013. The average price was $19,331, up 9.7% compared with $17,621 a year ago, while the median price was $15,000, a gain of 25% over last year’s $12.000. The buyback percentage was 32.3%; it was 31.9% last year. The sale topper was Hip No. 236, Back to Class, a Montbrook filly consigned by Journeyman Bloodstock Services, Inc. (Brent & Crystal Fernung), Agent, sold to Adena Springs for $85,000. The 4-year-old chestnut filly is out of Cut Class Leanne, by Cutlass, and is a full sister to graded stakes winning OBS graduate Chapel Royal.

At the Horses of Racing Age section, 99 horses sold for a total of $1,643,400, compared with 106 horses grossing $1,629,000 at the corresponding session in 2013. The average price was $16,605, up 8.1% from $15,368 in 2013 and the median price was $10,000 up 21.2% from $8,250 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 20.8%; it was 20.3% in 2013.

Next on the OBS agenda is the Selected Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training, set for March 10 – 11, 2014. The Under Tack Show is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 6 – 7.

TOBA Clinic at OBS March 7-8

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association will hold a two-day Thoroughbred Pedigree and Conformation Clinic March 7-8 at Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. in Ocala. The clinic, sponsored by Blood-Horse Publications, will feature conformation presentations, live evaluations, and pedigree discussions.

The clinic agenda, along with a complete schedule of upcoming 2014 seminars and clinics, will soon be available at www.toba.org. These educational events are informative for both new and current Thoroughbred owners and breeders. Pushingonastring, Zensational Storm top Winter Mixed Sale’s Horses of Racing Age Section

Zensational Storm and Pushingonastring each sold for $75, 000 to top the Horses of Racing Age Section of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Winter Mixed Sale.

Hip No. 361, Zensational Storm, an unraced son of Zensational consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, went to Stuart Simon, agent for Russ McClellan. The 3-year-old chestnut colt, who worked three eighths in :34 flat at Monday’s Under Tack session, is out of stakes placed Storming Starlet.

Hip No.459, Pushingonastring, a son of Distorted Humor consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent, was purchased by The Farm on 4 LLC. The 5-year-old chestnut gelding is out of Luna Bella (NZ), by Stravinsky, a full sister to graded stakes winner Hips Don’t Lie, He came into the sale off two straight wins at Tampa Bay Downs, giving him a 5-3-1-0 record and $59,510 in earnings.

Patrice Miller (EQB, Inc), Agt. for Matt Schera, went to $55,000 for Hip No. 362, Star Academy, a son of Malibu Moon, consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent. The unraced 3-year-old chestnut colt, a half brother to graded stakes winner Mass Media, is out of Sultry Allure, by Forty Niner. He worked a half mile on Monday in :47 4/5. 

Hip No. 457, Wondrouswager, sixth in Tuesday’s $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes, was sold to Douglas and Martha King for $50,000. Consigned by Shadybrook Farm, Inc. (Michael Yates), Agent for B-5 LLC, the 3-year-old bay gelding by Stevie Wonderboy is out of Pocketbook Passion, by Siphon (BRZ), a half sister to graded stakes winner Silver Reunion.

Hip No. 356, Smart and Sensible, a colt by Street Sense consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent, was sold to Pewter Stable for $47,000. The dark bay or brown 3-year-old colt, out of stakes winner Smart and Fancy, by Not For Love, worked three eighths in :34 2/5 at the Under Tack Show.

Hip No. 390, Izzie’s Gold, a stakes winning daughter of E Dubai consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, was sold to Marion G. Montanari for $47,000. The 5-year-old bay mare, who breezed three eighths in :33 4/5 on Monday, is out of stakes placed Yes It’s Gold, by Yes It’s True.

Hip No. 450, Timeless Indy also brought $47,000, the son of A.P. Indy going to McMahon & Hill Bloodstock. Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, the 3-year-old bay gelding, a winner last summer at Monmouth, is out of Border Dispute, by Boundary, and is a half brother to graded stakes winner Long Lashes.

For the Horses of Racing Age section, 96 horses sold for a total of $1,603,400, compared with 106 horses grossing $1,629,000 at the corresponding session in 2013. The average price was $16,702, up 8.7% from $15,368 in 2013 and the median price was $10,500 compared with $8,250 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 23.2%; it was 20.3% in 2013.

The Winter Mixed Sale concludes on Friday, with Hip No.’s 501-850 selling on the Open Session beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Montbrook filly tops Winter Mixed Sale’s Opening Session

Hip No. 236, Back to Class, a Montbrook filly consigned by Journeyman Bloodstock Services, Inc. (Brent & Crystal Fernung), Agent, was sold to Adena Springs for $85,000 to top the Consignor Preferred Session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Winter Mixed Sale. The 4-year-old chestnut filly is out of Cut Class Leanne, by Cutlass, and is a full sister to graded stakes winning OBS graduate Chapel Royal.

Journeyman also consigned Hip No. 79, Missy Rules, a 4-year-old stakes winning daughter of Peace Rules, sold to Donato Lanni, Agent, for $80,000. The bay filly, out of Missy McKee, by Silver Deputy, is a half sister to graded stakes winner Umpateedle.

Ken & Sarah Ramsey went to $75,000 for Hip No. 149, Strike Fighter, a yearling by In Summation consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Shocking Pink, by Jump Start, a half sister to graded stakes placed Imawildandcrazyguy.

Hip No. 64, a yearling filly by Lookin At Lucky consigned by Select Sales, Agent, went to George Kerr for $67,000. The bay filly is out of Lovin Ladie, by Master Command, a half sister to graded stakes winner Kays and Jays.

Hip No. 175, a yearling from the first crop of Uncle Mo consigned by Highbury Farm, was sold to BTSI, Agent, for $67,000. The bay colt is out of Turbulent Times, by Fusaichi Pegasus, a half sister to grade one stakes placed Honoured Guest.

Hip No. 4, a yearling colt by Archarcharch consigned by Select Sales, Agent, was sold to Jeff Ralph for $65,000. The dark bay or brown colt, out of Fine Prospect, by Meadowlake, is a half brother to stakes placed Big Cat Walks Late.

Big Dog Stable went to $60,000 for Hip No. 218, a colt by Dunkirk consigned by Bobby Jones Equine LLC, Agent. The gray or roan colt is out of Bridal Song, by Vicar, a half sister to stakes placed Winaholic.

Hip No. 145, a Rockport Harbor filly consigned by Andy Cant, Agent, went to Thomas Kutsukos for $55,000. The gray or roan filly is out of Sher Win Forest, by Forest Camp, a half sister to graded stakes winner City Attraction.

For the Consignor Preferred session, 146 horses sold for total of $2,889,700 compared with 98 horses grossing $1,726,900 in 2013. The average price was $19,792, up 12.32.% compared with $17,621 a year ago, while the median price was $15,000, a gain of 25% over last year’s $12.000. The buyback percentage was 35.4%; it was 31.9% last year.

Here’s Johnny wins OBS Championship Stakes

The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company celebrated its 25th annual Day of Champions by offering pari-mutuel wagering on the first two races.

In the afternoon’s  fifth and final race, Ice Wine Stable’s Here’s Johnny battled down the stretch with Alto Racing’s Canzoni in the $100, 000 OBS Championship Stakes for colts and geldings and prevailed by a nose in a photo finish. It was a neck back to H. Jack Hendricks and Roger Justice’s East Hall in third. The race was the second victory of the day for the combination of jockey Kent Desormeaux and trainer Wesley Ward, who teamed to win the day’s second race with Mark Dodson’s Ruslana. Here’s Johnny, a Florida-bred gelding by Colonel John, sold for $220,000 by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2012 OBS August Sale, ran the mile and a sixteenth in 1:45 4/5.  He’s now 7-3-2-0 and has earned $163,381 to date.

An experienced world traveler, Here’s Johnny was a good fourth last August in the Prix de la Vallee d’Auge Stakes at Deauville for Ward, an Eclipse Award winning apprentice rider in 1984. Wesley also saddled OBS graduate Jealous Again for her victory in the 2009 Queen Mary Stakes (G2) at Ascot.

William D. McCarty’s Naughty Holiday rallied between horses on the far turn of the $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, took the lead turning for home and scored by a length and a half over Alifyfe Racing’s Babe’s Ruler. Pinnacle Racing Stables, H. Jack Hendricks and Roger L. Justice’s Holiday Magic found room late and rallied for third. Naughty Holiday, by Harlan’s Holiday, trained by David Fawkes and ridden by Javier Castellano, ran the mile and a sixteenth in 1:46 3/5. Sold for $40,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2013 OBS April Sale, Naughty Holiday is now 3-2-1-0 and has earned $92,400.

Mark Dodson’s Ruslana took command at the head of the lane and held off late runs by Bernard G. Schaeffer’s Henny Jenney and Second Chance Stable’s Epic Story to win the $50,000 OBS Sprint Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, winning by a length and three quarters and running the six furlongs in 1:10 4/5.  Sold for $70,000 by Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2013 OBS April Sale, the daughter of City Zip is now 5-2-1-0 and has earned $76,115. Ruslana paid $4.80, 3.40 and 2.60 and the 8-6 exacta was worth $13.40. Henny Jenney returned $4.80 and 4.00; Epic Story paid 3.40 to show. The 8-8 daily double combination of Dashin Bye Slinky and Ruslana was worth $13.80.

Rustlewood Farm’s Prudhoe Bay saved ground under a heady ride by Paco Lopez, got through on the rail in the stretch and won the $50,000 OBS Sprint Stakes for 3-year-old colts and geldings by a neck over Rontos Racing Stable’s Breitling Flyer, with Tommy Roberts and Dan Hurtak’s Can’t Stop the Kid two lengths back in third. The Florida-bred colt by Songandaprayer, who ran six furlongs in 1:10 flat, was consigned by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2012 OBS August Sale. The win leaves him with a 3-2-0-0 record and $56,535 in earnings.

Monica Lee Arrieta’s Dashin Bye Slinky edged Javier Rodriguez’ Craig Judd by a nose in the afternoon’s first race, a 220 yard Quarter Horse Allowance purse.  Salvador Lopez’ Hello My Boy was three quarters of a length back in third. Trained by Angel Rodriguez and ridden by Oscar Delgado, the winner ran the 220 yard distance in :12.24. The winner paid $6.40, 3.40 and 2.60 and the 8-9 exacta returned $19.20. Craig Judd returned $6.40 and 3.80; Hello My Boy paid 2.80 to show.

The total pari-mutuel handle on the first two races was $15,939.

OBS grads one-two as Tanzanite Cat takes Oaklawn’s Smarty Jones Stakes

James L. Driver and H. Ywachetta’s Tanzanite Cat tried two turns for the first time in the one mile $150, 000 Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn on Monday, fought fellow OBS graduate Walt (April ’13) down the stretch and eased away from him late for a 1-1/4 length victory. It’s the second straight win for the three time OBS graduate, consigned first by Andy Cant, Agent, to the 2011 Fall Mixed Sale before being sold by Cant at the 2012 August Sale. He was then resold for $150,000 by Thoroughbred Friends & Associates, Agent, at the 2013 April Sale. The 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Graeme Hall is now 3-2-1-0-1 and has earned $123,000. watch his under tack video

Bernstein filly fastest at Winter Mixed Sale’s Under Tack Show

Hip No. 440, a 3-year-old filly by Bernstein consigned by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co., Agent, sped three eighths in :32 2/5 to post the fastest work at the distance at the Under Tack Show for the Horses of Racing Age section of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Winter Mixed Sale. The bay filly is out of Essential Fear (IRE) a half sister to graded stakes winner Duff.

Hip No. 326, a 3-year-old Indian Charlie filly consigned by James Layden, Agent, worked the same distance in :33 flat. The bay filly is out of stakes winner Private Dreams, by Johannesburg.

Two horses worked the distance in :33 1/5. Hip No. 256, Attain, is a 3-year-old son of Successful Appeal consigned by Select Sales, Agent. The bay gelding is out of Febrile, by Trempolino, a half sister to graded stakes placed Spanish Moon. Hip No. 434, Lady Dupree, is a 4-year-old daughter of Belong to Me, consigned by Kim Harrison (Top Speed Farm), Agent.

Hip No. 393, Action Adventure, worked the day’s fastest half mile, stopping the timer in :46 4/5. Consigned by Wes Carter, the 5-year-old bay gelding by Outflanker is out of Almost Paradise, by Allen’s Prospect, and is a half brother to stakes winner Come Fly Away.

Carter also consigned Hip No. 366, Withalottalove, who worked a half in :47 1/5. The 5-year-old chestnut horse by Not For Love, is out of Tekawitha, by Regal Classic, a half sister to stakes winner Dynamic Lisa.

Hip numbers 501 – 850 will sell on Friday, January 24th in the Open Session.

Ribo Bobo, Parranda post Sunshine Millions stakes victories

Mr. Amore Stable’s Ribo Bobo stalked the pace in the $150, 000 Florida Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream on Saturday, took command after straightening away for home, then eased away to a 1-3/4 length victory. It’s the second straight win for the 6-year-old gelding by Louis Quatorze, whose nine race winning streak in 2013 included stakes victories at Monmouth and Laurel. Fourth at three in the OBS Sprint Stakes, he’s now 49-16-9-3 and has earned $659,655. As a weanling, he was consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, to the 2010 OBS Winter Mixed Sale.

Lone Stable LLC’s Parranda moved up strongly on the far turn in Saturday’s $150,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Stakes at Gulfstream, took over at the top of the stretch then bounded away to a three length victory over fellow OBS graduate E B Ryder (April ’12). It’s the third stakes score for the 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of English Channel, sold for $13,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. The win leaves her with a 19-7-7-2 record and $358,655 in earnings. watch her under tack video

Winter Mixed Sale starts Wednesday; Under Tack Show on Monday

The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company begins its 2014 sale calendar with the annual Winter Mixed Sale. The catalog may be viewed on the OBS website at http://obssales.com. The sortable master index provides access to supplemental entries and pedigree updates occurring since the catalog went to the printer.

A total of 809 horses have been cataloged to date for the three-day sale, scheduled to begin Wednesday, January 22nd with hip numbers 1- 254 selling in the Consignor Preferred session.

Broodmare buyers will find mares in foal to a good group of proven stallions including Afleet Alex, Artie Schiller, Flatter, High Cotton, Mizzen Mast, Put It Back, Tale of the Cat and Yes It’s True as well as up and comers Archarcharch, Astrology, Biondetti, Big Drama, Kodiak Kowboy, Tizway, Trappe Shot and Stay Thirsty.

The Racing Age Section has been extremely well received in its first two years. The first year produced a $240,000 sale topper and last year, Falling Sky, a 3-year-old colt by Lion Heart, sold for $425,000. Consigned by Off the Hook LLC, the colt was purchased by Justin Casse, Agent. Racing for Newtown Anner Stud, James Covello and Joseph Bulger, the colt produced immediate dividends, winning the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs.

Mighty Brown, Holiday Magic headline Tuesday’s Day of Champions

Stakes winners Mighty Brown and Holiday Magic are the headliners as the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company holds its 25th annual Day of Champions race card on Tuesday, January 21st.

Held in conjunction with the OBS Winter Mixed Sale for the first time, the five-race card also offers pari-mutuel racing on the first two races. The day gets underway with a $10, 000 allowance dash for quarter horses followed by the six furlong $50,000 OBS Sprint Stakes for 3-year-old fillies who have gone through the ring at an OBS Sale.

The entire card will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com as well as the DRF and Blood-Horse websites. Post time for the first race is 1:00 p.m.

Bernard G. Schaeffer’s Henny Jenney and Mark Dodson’s Ruslana are co-favored at 3-1 for the OBS Sprint for fillies. Idle since a fourth place finish in the Blue Mountain Juvenile Stakes at Penn National last fall, the daughter of Henny Hughes has been supplemented to the race by trainer Bill Connelly. She’ll be ridden by Scott Spieth. Ruslana, also idle since a turf test at Churchill Downs in November after breaking her maiden impressively at Keeneland, is trained by Wesley Ward and will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux.

Here’s the field in post position order: Cabernet Racing Stables and Ed Seltzer’s Shanagarry, 6-1, Melanie Pinto; Debra Posgai’s Sunset Silhouette,8-1, Manoel Cruz; Second Chance Stable’s Epic Story, 5-1,  Jose Caraballo; Saddlebrook Stables LLC and Tim Fogarty’s Savvy N Speightful, (scratched); Gelfenstein Farm’s Luna Santa, 6-1, Paco Lopez; Henny Jenney; G Ray Trisler’s Sliver of Hope, 6-1, Marlon St. Julien; Ruslana. All will carry 120 pounds.

Mighty Brown, winner of the Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in his last start, rates top billing in the third race, the six furlong $50,000 OBS Sprint for colts and geldings. The colt by Big Brown, who also placed in a pair of stakes at two, has been supplemented to the race by trainer Tim Ice and will be ridden by Dean Butler.

The field of seven also includes Rontos Racing Stable’s stakes placed Breitling Flyer and Abdullah Saeed Almaddah’s Green Mask, a sharp fourth last fall in the Real Quiet Stakes at Hollywood Park. The horses and riders in post position order: Breitling Flyer, J.J. Gonzalez; Green Mask, Dylan Davis; Tommy Roberts and Dan Hurtak’s Can’t Stop the Kid, Luis Saez; Rustlewood Farm’s Prudhoe Bay, Paco Lopez; Klaravich Stables & William H. Lawrence’s Endowment Manager, (scratched); Mighty Brown; Piedra Racing Stable’s Gryvon, Javier Castellano. All will carry 122 pounds.

Pinnacle Racing Stables, H. Jack Hendricks and Roger L. Justice’s Holiday Magic heads a field of 11 entered for the fourth race, the $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at a mile and a sixteenth. The Florida-bred filly by Congrats won the Brave Raj Stakes at Calder last fall and also was on the board in all three divisions the Florida Stallion Stakes. Regular rider Juan Leyva again gets the riding assignment from trainer Bill Kaplan. Trainer Reade Baker sends out Jus Luk Stable, Richard Mah and his own Norquay, second in Woodbine’s Glorious Song in her last start and Antonio Sano will saddle Gelfenstein Farm’s stakes placed Luna Santa. The field in post position order: Norquay, Joe Rocco; Darcy W. Scudero’s Bump Bump, Gary Boulanger; Alifyfe Racing’s Babe’s Ruler, Antonio Gallardo; William McCarty’s Naughty Holiday, Javier Castellano; Holiday Magic; Casner Racing’s Stock Yard Hen, Joe Bravo; Luna Santa, Paco Lopez; Jack Garey’s Lady Doris, Julien Leparoux; Sherry D. McLean’s Charlotte’s Quest, Luis Contreras; Gelfenstein Farm’s The Best Love, Diego Gomez; Soldi Stable’s Raising Passion, Edgard Zayas. All carry 120 pounds.

H. Jack Hendricks and Roger Justice’s East Hall, third in the recent Gulfstream Park Derby, heads the finale, the mile and a sixteenth $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes for 3-year-old colts and geldings. The Florida-bred colt by Graeme Hall, who just missed by a nose in Calder’s Seacliff Stakes last summer is trained by Bill Kaplan and will be ridden by regular rider Juan Leyva.

Wesley Ward sends out Ice Wine Stable’s well-traveled Here’s Johnny, a close fourth last summer at in a stakes race at Deauville in France before running second in a pair of stateside stakes at Keeneland and Gulfstream. Kent Desormeaux gets the call on the Florida-bred Colonel John gelding.

Todd Pletcher ships in Alto Racing’s Canzoni to the Championship. The colt by Unbridled’s Song, winner of his only other start, will have the services of Javier Castellano.

Monica Lee Arrieta’s Dashin Bye Slinky, winner of his last start at Hialeah, is the 5-2 morning line favorite in a ten horse field for the first race, a 220 yard quarter horse allowance event. The 3-year-old gelding, trained by Angel Rodriguez, will be ridden by Oscar Delgado and carry 122 pounds. Javier Rodriguez’ Craig Judd, second choice at 3-1, also comes into the race off a win at Hialeah Park. The 3-year-old colt, also saddled by Rodriguez, will be ridden by Osdany Leal and carries 122.
