This Ones for Phil leads OBS sweep of Sunshine Millions Sprint

Mandato, Dubb & Paul P. Pompa Jr.’s This Ones for Phil outfought fellow OBS graduate Pashito the Che down the stretch and won the Saturday’s $200,000 Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes by a nose, with Drift King (March ’07) completing the 1-2-3 OBS trifecta. It’s the second straight win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Untuttable, consigned by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2006 OBS Fall Mixed Sale. He’s now 15-6-2-1 and has earned $493,360. more

Wall Street Wonder romps in Aqueduct's Paumonok Stakes

Stetson Stables' Wall Street Wonder got his 2010 campaign off to a flying start, romping to an 8-1/2 length victory in Saturday’s $65,000 Paumonok Stakes at Aqueduct. It’s the second straight win and first stakes victory for the 4-year-old colt by City Place, although he was on the board in four previous stakes efforts. Sold for $145,000 by Big C Farm, Agent, at the 2007 OBS August Sale, he’s now 12-3-1-4 with earnings of $156,341. more

Dehere filly tops Winter Mixed Sale finale
Hip No. 305, a yearling filly by Dehere consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, went to B & B Partners for $57,000 to top the Open session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 Winter Mixed Sale. The gray or roan filly is out of stakes placed Seattle Moon, by Seattle Dancer, and is a half sister to stakes winner Mohegan Sky. more

East Long Lake tops Winter Mixed Sale opener
Hip No. 111, East Long Lake, a Sultry Song mare in foal to champion Curlin, went to Mary K. Haire for $105,000 to top the Consignor Preferred session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2010 Winter Mixed Sale. Consigned by Kaizen Sales, Agent, the 4-year-old bay mare out of Antoinetta, by Inverness Drive, is a half sister to graded stakes winner OK By Me. more

Kodiak Kowboy, She Be Wild win Eclipse Awards

Vinery Stables & Fox Hill Farm’s Kodiak Kowboy was chosen as 2009’s champion sprinter and Nancy Mazzoni’s She Be Wild selected champion two-year-old filly at the Eclipse Award ceremony Monday night. They are the 21st and 22nd OBS graduates to win Eclipse Awards.more

Richiegirlgonewild surprises in Gulfstream's Old Hat

Richard Ravin’s unbeaten Richiegirlgonewild was ignored at 31-1 before Gulfstream’s $100,000 Old Hat Stakes (G3) on Saturday, but she took command at the start and stayed there all the way, winning by a length with fellow OBS graduate Criolla Bonita (April ’09) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Wildcat Heir, now three for three with earnings of $93,600. The two-time OBS graduate was consigned by Top Line Sales, Agent, to the 2008 August Sale before being sold for $100,000 by W.D. North Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2009 March Sale. more

Red Rally romps in Louisiana Futurity
Merrill R. Scherer, Dan Lynch and Ken Sentel’s Red Rally made it two stakes wins in a row on New Year’s Eve at Fair Grounds, romping by six lengths in the $109,445 Louisiana Futurity. The newly turned 3-year-old gelding by Reformer Rally is now 9-5-2-1 and has earned $298,493. He was sold for $90,000 by Hoby and Layna Kight at the 2009 OBS February Sale. more

Romantic Hideaway, Simply Spiteful one-two in Philadelphia's Brandywine Stakes
Red Oak Stable’s Romantic Hideaway stepped into stakes company for the first time Monday in Philadelphia Park’s $75,000 Brandywine Stakes, and came home a two length winner over fellow OBS graduate Simply Spiteful (April ’09). Her first stakes win gives the 2-year-old daughter of City Zip a 4-3-1-0 record and $101,020 in earnings. The two time OBS graduate was consigned by Elite Equine, Agent, to the 2008 OBS August Yearling Sale before being sold for $45,000 by Straightaway Farm, Agent, at the 2009 OBS March Sale. more

Motovato, Dream Maestro one-two in Calder's Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap
Edmund A. Gann & Michel Jean Zerolo’s Motovato ended his 2009 campaign on a high note, scoring by a neck over fellow OBS graduate Dream Maestro (April ’07) in Saturday’s $100,000 Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap (G3) at Calder. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Proud Citizen, consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, to the 2007 OBS March Sale. He’s now 13-5-2-2 and has earned $219,179. more

Blind Luck romps in Hollywood Starlet
Mark DeDomenico LLC, John Carver and Jerry Hollendorfer’s Blind Luck turned on the afterburners passing the eighth pole of Sunday’s $405,250 Hollywood Starlet Stakes (G1), and rolled away to a seven length win for her second grade one stakes victory. An unlucky third behind fellow OBS April graduate She Be Wild in the Breeders’ Cuip Juvenile Fillies (G1), the 2-year-old daughter of Pollard’s Vision is now 6-4-1-1 and has earned $709,050 to date. She was consigned to the 2009 OBS April Sale by Omega Farm, Agent. more
