Rightly So scores in Saratoga's Ballerina Stakes

Zayat Stables LLC's Rightly So broke on top of a strong field in Saturday's $250,000 Ballerina Stakes (G1) at Saratoga and dominated every step of the seven furlongs, crossing the finish line with a four length victory. It's the second straight graded stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by Read the Footnotes, sold for $220,000 by Sequel Bloodstock, Agent, at the 2008 OBS February Sale. She's now 11-7-3-1 with earnings of $480,050. more

Congrats filly tops Yearling Sale finale
Hip No. 727, Sing a New Song, a filly by Congrats consigned by Perrone Sales, Ltd., Agent, went to H.H.T.S. for $64,000 to top the second and final Open session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2010 August Yearling Sale. The bay filly is out of stakes placed Singsingasong, by Sultry Song. more

Mass Media colt tops first session of Open Yearling Sale
Hip No. 300, a colt by Mass Media consigned by Sharon Biamonte, Agent, went to Sarah McCord for $50,000 to top the first Open session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 August Yearling Sale. The dark bay or brown colt, a half brother to recent stakes winner Awesome Son, is out of Defrills, by Dehere, a daughter of stakes winner Dandy Frills. more

Any Given Saturday filly tops Selected Yearling Sale

Hip No. 117, Going Mavericki, a filly by Any Given Saturday consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, went to Jeff Bonde and Mersad Metanovic for $280,000 to top the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company’s 2010 Selected Yearling Sale. The bay filly is out of Ricki S., by Prized, a full sister to graded stakes winning millionaire Brass Hat. more

Blind Luck rallies to score in Saratoga's Alabama Stakes

Mark DeDomenico LLC, John Carver, Peter Abruzzo and Jerry Hollendorfer’s Blind Luck staked her claim to the head of her class, coming from last turning for home and getting up in the final yards to win Saratoga’s $500,000 Alabama Stakes (G1) by a neck. That gives the daughter of Pollard’s Vision five grade one stakes wins, seven graded wins overall, a 13-9-2-2 record and earnings of $1,878,712. She was consigned to the 2009 OBS April Sale by Omega Farm, Agent. more

OBS schedule set for 2011
The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company has finalized its schedule for next year, and will conduct six sales in 2011. The most significant change in the schedule is the consolidation of the February and March Selected Sales of Two-Year-Olds in Training into a single Selected Sale to be held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 15-16, 2011.

“The OBS Selected two-year-old sales have a long history of producing top class racehorses,” said OBS general manager Tom Ventura. “As two-year-old consignors have fewer horses to offer than in years past, OBS will concentrate its efforts in showcasing selected two-year-olds in March. We expect the OBS March Sale to be on the calendars of all serious buyers. Kantharos, a graduate of our 2010 March Sale, is currently at the head of his class after winning Monday’s Saratoga Special (G2), his second graded stakes victory.”

The OBS Championship Stakes races, run in February since 2007, return to their original slot in the calendar and will be run Monday March 14, 2011, the day before the Selected Two-Year-Old Sale.

Unbeaten Kantharos rolls in OBS sweep of Saratoga Special

Stonestreet Stables LLC’s unbeaten Kantharos pulled away from fellow OBS graduate Bail Out the Cat (February ’10) approaching the eighth pole of Monday’s Saratoga Special (G2) and drew off a to nine length victory, with Manchurian High (August ’09, October ‘08) completing an OBS trifecta. That’s three wins in as many starts for the 2-year-old colt by Lion Heart, sold for $250,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2010 OBS March Sale. His second graded stakes win gives him $185,213 in earnings. more

Majesticperfection romps in Saratoga's Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap

Padua Stables’ Majesticperfection extended his winning streak to five in Sunday’s $250,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) at Saratoga, running six furlongs in 1:08 3/5 en route to a front-running 2-3/4 length victory. The 4-year-old colt by Harlan’s Holiday, now 6-5-0-1 with earnings of $310,430, was sold for $370,000 at the 2008 OBS April Sale by Another Episode Farm Inc., Agent. more

Wickedly Perfect takes Del Mar's Sorrento Stakes
Y-Lo Racing Stables LLC’s Wickedly Perfect is two for two and a graded stakes winner after her length victory in Friday’s $150,000 Sorrento Stakes (G3) at Del Mar. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Congrats, sold for $70,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2010 OBS April Sale, has earned $114,600 to date. more
