Zensational Storm and Pushingonastring each sold for $75, 000 to top the Horses of Racing Age Section of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Winter Mixed Sale.
Hip No. 361, Zensational Storm, an unraced son of Zensational consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, went to Stuart Simon, agent for Russ McClellan. The 3-year-old chestnut colt, who worked three eighths in :34 flat at Monday’s Under Tack session, is out of stakes placed Storming Starlet.
Hip No.459, Pushingonastring, a son of Distorted Humor consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent, was purchased by The Farm on 4 LLC. The 5-year-old chestnut gelding is out of Luna Bella (NZ), by Stravinsky, a full sister to graded stakes winner Hips Don’t Lie, He came into the sale off two straight wins at Tampa Bay Downs, giving him a 5-3-1-0 record and $59,510 in earnings.
Patrice Miller (EQB, Inc), Agt. for Matt Schera, went to $55,000 for Hip No. 362, Star Academy, a son of Malibu Moon, consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent. The unraced 3-year-old chestnut colt, a half brother to graded stakes winner Mass Media, is out of Sultry Allure, by Forty Niner. He worked a half mile on Monday in :47 4/5.
Hip No. 457, Wondrouswager, sixth in Tuesday’s $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes, was sold to Douglas and Martha King for $50,000. Consigned by Shadybrook Farm, Inc. (Michael Yates), Agent for B-5 LLC, the 3-year-old bay gelding by Stevie Wonderboy is out of Pocketbook Passion, by Siphon (BRZ), a half sister to graded stakes winner Silver Reunion.
Hip No. 356, Smart and Sensible, a colt by Street Sense consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent, was sold to Pewter Stable for $47,000. The dark bay or brown 3-year-old colt, out of stakes winner Smart and Fancy, by Not For Love, worked three eighths in :34 2/5 at the Under Tack Show.
Hip No. 390, Izzie’s Gold, a stakes winning daughter of E Dubai consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, was sold to Marion G. Montanari for $47,000. The 5-year-old bay mare, who breezed three eighths in :33 4/5 on Monday, is out of stakes placed Yes It’s Gold, by Yes It’s True.
Hip No. 450, Timeless Indy also brought $47,000, the son of A.P. Indy going to McMahon & Hill Bloodstock. Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, the 3-year-old bay gelding, a winner last summer at Monmouth, is out of Border Dispute, by Boundary, and is a half brother to graded stakes winner Long Lashes.
For the Horses of Racing Age section, 96 horses sold for a total of $1,603,400, compared with 106 horses grossing $1,629,000 at the corresponding session in 2013. The average price was $16,702, up 8.7% from $15,368 in 2013 and the median price was $10,500 compared with $8,250 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 23.2%; it was 20.3% in 2013.
