Wonder Gadot wins Woodbine’s Queen’s Plate

Gary Barber’s Wonder Gadot added blinkers before taking on the boys in Saturday’s $1,008,000 Queen’s Plate Stakes at Woodbine and the 3-year-old graded stakes winning daughter of Medaglia d’Oro found the view to her liking, moving to the leaders on the outside on the turn, taking charge a quarter mile from home and bounding away in the stretch to win by 4-3/4 lengths. She’s the second OBS graduate to capture the Canadian classic. Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Sir Dudley Digges (June ’15) won the 2016 renewal. The latest millionaire OBS graduate, Wonder Gadot is now 12-4-4-3 for trainer Mark Casse and has earned $1,199,053 to date. She turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before she was purchased for $325,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2017 April Sale. watch her under tack video

Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables LLC & Allen Racing LLC’s Midnight Bisou pressed fellow OBS graduate Road to Victory (April ’17) in the early going of the $237,500 Mother Goose Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park, took command at the head of the stretch and drew off down the lane to beat her by six lengths. It’s the fourth graded stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds to the2017 OBS April Sale, where she breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before going to Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000. Rockingham Ranch & Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet showed no ill effects from his recent trip to Dubai, where he was caught at the wire by fellow OBS graduate Mind Your Biscuits (April ’15) in the Golden Shaheen (G1), bouncing right to the front in Gulfstream’s $272,500 Smile Sprint Stakes (G3) and never looking back en route to a 2-1/4 length victory. OBS graduates Sweetontheladies (April ’16) and Petrov (June ’16) were moved up to second and third by the stewards. That’s seven stakes wins for the 6-year-old Florida-bred son of Kantharos, now 22-10-7-2 for trainer Jorge Navarro with $1,558,663 in earnings. Oxley and Meadowview Farm LLC’s Ride a Comet had only one horse beaten early in Woodbine’s $105,200 Charlie Barley Stakes, but the 3-year-old son of Candy Ride (ARG) advanced on the turn, caught the leaders a sixteenth from home and eased away to a 2-3/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Elusive Mischief (April ’17, August ’16) settled for third. Trained by Mark Casse, his first stakes win leaves him with an 8-4-0-0 career record and earnings of $131,856. Wilfredo Agusti, Jr.’s War Giant stepped into stakes company for the first time in the $75,000 Carry Back Stakes at Gulfstream, took the lead at the start and led all the way, coasting home to a 5-3/4 length victory. Three for three this year for trainer Oscar Gonzalez, the 3-year-old colt by Data Link is a two time OBS graduate, consigned by Azpurua Stables to both the 2016 August Selected Sale of Yearlings and the 2017 March Sale where he worked an Under Tack quarter in :21 3/5. JAL Racing’s Alter Moon picked up her first stakes win on Saturday at Gulfstream, taking the lead on the turn of the $75,000 Azalea Stakes and drawing away smartly down the stretch to a five length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Starship Bonita (March ’17, August ’16) checked in third. It’s the second straight win for 3-year-old filly by Alternation. She was purchased for $22,000 out of the SGV Thoroughbreds (Steven Venosa) consignment at the 2017 OBS June Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 4/5. Trained by Jose D. Frank Fletcher Racing Operations, Inc.’s C Z Rocket sat just off the pace in the early gong of the $68,130 Kelly’s Landing Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday, blew past the leaders approaching the eighth pole and drew off to a four length victory, running the seven furlongs in a sprightly 1:21 2/5. Fellow OBS graduate Warrior’s Club (April ’16) checked in third. It’s the first stakes win for the lightly raced 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by City Zip, purchased in 2016 out of the Stephens Thoroughbred consignment for an OBS June Sale record $800,000 after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :21 1/5. American Anthem leads 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Santa Anita’s San Carlos Stakes

WinStar Farm LLC, Head of Plains Partners LLC, China Horse Club & SF Racing LLC’s American Anthem battled head to head with fellow OBS graduate St. Joe Bay (June ’14, Jan ’13) from the start of Saturday’s $251,035 San Carlos Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita, took a short lead in mid-stretch then held his rival off late to win by a head. Horse Greedy (March ’15, August ’14) completed a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the race. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Bodemeister, trained by Bob Baffert, now 10-5-1-2 with $673,945 in earnings. Frederick J. Seitz, Danny Ward and John D. Stephens’s Altamura tried stakes company in Laurel’s $75,000 M. Tyson Gilpin Stakes on Saturday after breaking his maiden last time out, circled horses on the turn to reach contention and got up in the final yards to score by a head. The 3-year-old daughter of Artie Schiller was consigned to the 2017 OBS April Sale by Stephens Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, where she breezed an eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by John D. Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC & Willis Horton Racing LLC’s Bano Solo made his debut on Saturday, went right to the lead in a five furlong maiden special weight test, shook off the field turning for home and cruised to a three length victory for trainer Steve Asmussen. The 2-year-old colt by back to back Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winning OBS graduate Goldencents was sold for $400,000 by Hoby & Layna Kight at the the 2018 OBS March Sale after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :20 1/5, the sale’s fastest at the distance. John C. Oxley’s Catherinethegreat settled for second in her debut on April 26, but she put the lesson to good use in her second start on Saturday at Gulfstream, taking command of a five furlong maiden special weight dash on the turn and romping from there to a 10-1/4 length victory in :57.83.  The 2-year filly by Uncaptured, who also raced for Mr. Oxley, was purchased for $170,000 out of the Turtle Pond Farm consignment, topping the 2017 OBS October Open Sale of Yearlings. Trained by Mark Casse, she has earned $53,800 to date.

Shang Shang Shang scores in Royal Ascot’s Norfolk Stakes

Breeze Easy LLC’s Shang Shang Shang took the lead at the start of the Norfolk Stakes (G2) against the boys at Royal Ascot on Thursday and led all the way, holding off a late charge to win by a nose. The 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Shanghai Bobby provided a quick return on investment, breaking her maiden at first asking at Keeneland on April 26 in her only other start. A two time OBS graduate, she was purchased out of the SBM Training & Sales consignment by Breeze Easy for $200,000 at the 2018 OBS March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. She had been sold previously as a short yearling by Summerfield at the 2017 Winter Mixed Sale. Trained by Wesely Ward, she has earned $101,524 to date. watch her under tack video

Mr. Misunderstood captures Churchill’s Wise Dan Stakes

Flurry Racing Stables LLC’s Mr. Misundertood overcame a bump at the start of Saturday’s $200,000 Wise Dan Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs, sat just off the pace, rallied down the stretch and took over late to win by half a length. It’s the fifth stakes win for the 4-year-old gelding by Archarcharch, winner of the Commonwealth Turf Stakes (G3) over the same course last November. Now 17-10-2-0 for trainer Brad Cox, he has earned $574,714 to date. Paradise Farms Corp., Walder Racing and Marshall Mack’s Bitacora relaxed off the pace in the early going of Saturday’s $100,000 Ginger Punch Stakes at Gulfstream Park, rallied to reach the leaders a sixteenth from home and edged ahead late to beat fellow OBS graduate Unbridled Courage (June ’14) by half a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Dominus, sold by Silver Oaks Farm for $42,000 at the 2015 OBS August Selected Yearling Sale. Peter Redekop B.C. Ltd.’s Alliford Bay scored her third straight stakes win in the $50,000 Washington State Legislators Stakes at Emerald Downs on Saturday, tracking the leader into the stretch before taking the lead inside the final furlong and drawing off to a four length victory. The 4-year-old City Zip filly was sold for $150,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2016 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Hip No. 742, a son of Scat Daddy consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, went to Alistair Roden Bloodstock for $360,000 to top the third and final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2018 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. The bay colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Sunday’s Under Tack session, is out of Imprecation, by First Defence, a half sister to grade one winner Nebraska Tornado.

  • Hip No. 660, Kokosan, a son of Into Mischief consigned by Gene Recio, Agent, was sold to Karl & Cathi Glassman, Eddie Plesa, Jr., Agent, for $260,000. The bay colt, who breezed a quarter in :21 2/5 at Saturday’s Under Tack session, is out of Farayya, by Hard Spun, a half sister to graded stakes winner Giftorm.
  • Karl & Cathi Glassman went to $230,000 for Hip No. 654, a son of Uncaptured consigned by Costanzo Sales. The bay colt, who worked an eighth in :10 flat on Saturday, is out of Fabiana’s Flash, by City Zip, a daughter of graded stakes winner Flashy N Smart.
  • Hip No. 699, a son of Ghostzapper consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, was sold to One Choice Bloodstock for $225,000. The full brother to stakes winner Mt Veeder, who galloped at Sunday’s Under Tack session, is out of Glenbriar Girl, by Gold Case.
  • Hip No. 795, a son of Cairo Prince consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, went to Sallusto & Albina for $210,000. The bay colt, who turned in an Under Tack eighth on Sunday in :10 1/5, is out of Kiss a Vet, by War Front, from the family of grade one stakes winner Tap to Music.
  • Hip No. 638, a daughter of Will Take Charge consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, was sold for $200,000 to Marquee Bloodstock. The dark bay or brown filly, who galloped at the Under Tack Show on Saturday, is out of graded stakes placed Entrustment, by Forestry, a half sister to grade one winner My Trusty Cat.
  • Reddam Racing LLC paid $180,000 for Hip No. 675, a dark bay or brown filly by Uncle Mo consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, who worked an eighth on Saturday in :10 flat. She’s a full sister to stakes placed OBS graduate Mighty Mo out of Flowers Athefinish, by Grand Reward.
  • Hip No. 726, Chilly in Charge, a son of Take Charge Indy consigned  by Best A Luck Farm LLC, Agent, was sold to Sallusto & Albina, Agent, for $170,000. The dark bay or brown colt, a half brother to stakes placed Chilly Start out of Holiday Chills, by Harlan’s Holiday, turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 on Sunday.
  • Hip No. 605, a daughter of Beau Choix  consigned by Weston Thoroughbreds Training & Sales LLC, Agent, was sold to Justin Casse, Agent, for $155,000. The bay filly, who worked an eighth in :10 flat at Saturday’s Under Tack session, is out of D J Trip, by Trippi, a half sister to stakes placed Superstar Bea.
  • Hip No. 613, a daughter of Exchange Rate consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent, went to L. E. B. for $130,000. The dark bay or brown filly, whose eighth on Saturday in :9 4/5 was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Downtown Drifter, by Devil His Due, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Arch Rebel.
  • Patrice Miller, EQB, Inc., Agent, paid $110,000 for Hip No. 745, a bay colt by Congrats who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 on Sunday. Consigned by Whitman Sales LLC, Agent, he’s out of In a Haze, by Smoke Glacken, a half sister to stakes winner Clever Tish.

For the session, 176 youngsters sold for a total of $5,673,500, averaging $32,236 with a $13,000 median price. The buyback percentage was $25.7%. There was no corresponding session in 2017.

Five older horses sold for $96,500 compared to four bringing a total of $77,000 in 2017. The average was $19,300 compared to $19,250 a year ago, while the median was $11,000 compared with $13,500 a year ago. The buyback percentage was $37.5%; it was 42.9% in 2017.

For the entire sale, 520 two-year-olds sold for $17,125,500 in three sessions, compared with 434 horses grossing $14,999,900 in two sessions a year ago. The average was $32,934 compared to $34,562 a year ago while the median price was $15,000 compared with $18,500 in 2017. The buyback percentage was 21.8%; it was 16.9% last year.

The overall sale topper was Hip No. 211, a son of Scat Daddy consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, sold to Carlo Vaccarezza for $650,000. The dark bay or brown colt, whose eighth in :9 4/5 at last Thursday’s Under Tack session was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Satulah, by Gone West, a daughter of graded stakes winner War Thief.

The Factor filly tops June Sale’s second session

Hip No. 426, a daughter of The Factor consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, went to East Hickman Bloodstock for $180,000 to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2018 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. The gray or roan filly, who worked a quarter in :20 4/5 at Friday’s session of the Under Tack Show, is out of stakes winner America’s Friend, by Unusual Heat, a full sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Bel Air Sizzle.

 

  • Hip No. 486, a son of Macho Uno also consigned by Wavertree, was purchased by Good Friends Stable for $155,000. The gray or roan colt, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 on Saturday, is out of Black Lace, by Afleet Alex, and is a three quarter brother to champion sprinter Private Zone.
  • Hip No. 320, a son of Run Away and Hide consigned by Stephens Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, was sold to George Mellon for $150,000.  The bay colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat at Friday’s Under Tack session, is out of Texit, by Tapit, a half sister to graded stakes placed My Corinthian.
  • Stetson Racing LLC paid $150,000 for Hip No. 457, Yesterday’s Girl, a chestnut filly by Mucho Macho Man who turned in a quarter in :20 4/5 on Saturday. Consigned by RiceHorse Stable (Brandon & Ali Rice), she’s out of stakes placed Ayers Hall, by Jade Hunter, from the family of champion Estrapade.
  • Hip No. 401, a son of Uncaptured consigned by Hawks Nest LLC, was sold to Justin Casse, Agent, for $135,000. The chestnut colt, who breezed a quarter in :21 1/5 on Friday,  is out of Yes It’s Valid, by Yes It’s True, a daughter of stakes winning OBS graduate Valid Forbes.
  • Joe Sharp, Agent, went to $110,000 for Hip No. 332, a son of Dialed In consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent. The dark bay or brown colt, whose eighth on Friday in :9 4/5 was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Top Trick, by Hat Trick (JPN), a daughter of graded stakes winner Blushing Heiress.
  • Hip No. 348, a daughter of Tiznow consigned by Woodside Ranch, Agent, went to Rio Vista Stables – Janice Klein for $110,000. The dark bay or brown filly, out of stakes placed Unbound, by Distorted Humor, turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 on Friday.
  • Hip No. 369, a bay filly by Pioneerof the Nile consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, who also worked an eighth on Friday in :10 1/5, was purchased by Gayle Van Leer, Agent, for $110,000. She’s out of graded stakes winner Washington Bridge, by Yankee Gentleman, a daughter of stakes winner Stirling Bridge.
  • Hip No. 534, Slewgoodtobetrue, a daughter of Jimmy Creed consigned by Mayberry Farm, Agent, went to Larry Zap, Agent for Joseph Ciaglia, Jr. for $110,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 on Saturday, is out of Chiefette, by Chief Seattle, a daughter of stakes placed Daederbe.
  • JSM Equine LLC paid $110,000 for Hip No. 540, a daughter of Violence consigned by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co., Inc., Agent. The bay filly, out of Citron Lady, by Lemon Drop Kid, a half sister to stakes winner Izzy Speaking, turned in an Under Tack eighth in :21 1/5 on Saturday.

For the session, 152 horses sold for a total of $4,598,500, compared with 213 selling for a total of $7,739,900 at last year’s second session. The average was $30,253 compared with $36,338 a year ago, while the median price was $14,500, compared to $20,000 in 2017.  The buyback percentage was 27.6%; it was 19.3% last year.

Hip No. 211, a son of Scat Daddy consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, was sold to Carlo Vaccarezza for $650,000 to top the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2018 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. The dark bay or brown colt, whose eighth in :9 4/5 at Thursday’s Under Tack session was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Satulah, by Gone West, a daughter of graded stakes winner War Thief.

 

 

  • Hip No. 61, a daughter of Cairo Prince consigned by Price Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent was purchased by Baoma Corp. for $375,000. The bay filly, a half sister to stakes winning OBS graduate Stormin’ Lyon out of Motel Lass, by Bates Motel, turned in the sale’s fastest quarter on Thursday, stopping the timer in :20 2/5.
  • Hip No. 41, Mo Mississippi, a son of Uncle Mo consigned by Gayle Woods, Agent, went to Exline-Border Racing LLC, Marette Farrell Agent, for $370,000. The bay colt, whose three eighths in :32 2/5 at Thursday’s Under Tack session was the sale’s fastest work at the distance, is out of out of Mississippi Queen, by Artie Schiller, a half sister to grade one stakes winner Asi Siempre. His breeze, the co-fastest three eighths ever by a two-year-old over the OBS surface, equaled the work turned in by grade one stakes winner Celestine at the 2014 OBS June Sale, also consigned by Gayle Woods.
  • Justin Casse, Agent, went to $240,000 for Hip No. 112, a daughter of Quality Road consigned by McKathan Bros., Agent. The bay filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat on Thursday, is a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Rock Candy out of Party Chatter, by Pleasant Colony.
  • Hip No. 235, a son of  New Year’s Day consigned by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg & Karen Dodd), Agent, was purchased for $205,000 by Robert Barbara, Agent for Joseph G. Bucci. The chestnut colt, who sped a quarter in :20 4/5 on Friday, is out of Sign Off, by Distorted Humor, a daughter of grade one stakes winner Imperial Gesture.
  • Calumet Farm paid $165,000 for Hip No. 247, a dark bay or brown colt by Flatter who also breezed a quarter in :20 4/5 on Friday. Consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, he’s a half brother to graded stakes placed stakes winner Skipalute out of Skipstone, by Montbrook.
  • Hip No. 210, Prize Money, a daughter of Orb consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Joe Sharp, Agent, for $155,000. The bay filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 on Thursday, is out of Satisfaction, by Awesome Again, a half sister to grade one winner Dancing Forever.
  • Joe Sharp, Agent, also went to $150,000 for Hip No. 3, a son of Cross Traffic consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent. The dark bay or brown colt, who worked an eighth on Thursday in :10 1/5, is out of stakes winner Madrilena, by Stormy Atlantic, a daughter of stakes winner Brush Over.

For the session, 171 horses grossed $6,460,500, compared with 221 selling for a total of $7,260,000 at last year’s first session. The average was $37,781, up 15% compared with $32,851 a year ago, while the median price was $20,000, a gain of 17.6% compared to $17,000 in 2017.  The buyback percentage was 21.5%; it was 14.34% last year.

The June Sale continues Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Hip No.’s 301 – 600 will be offered.

June Sale begins Wednesday, June 13

The 2018 OBS June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age is set for Wednesday though Friday, June 13th – 15th  with all sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m. Hip No’s 1-300 go on the block Wednesday, Hip No’s 301- 600 will be offered Thursday and Hip No’s. 601-936 will sell on Friday.

The Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website at http://obssales.com and via the Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form and TDN websites. The entire catalog including the supplements can be viewed via the OBS website.

The catalog cover features grade one stakes winning June Sale graduates Stormy Liberal, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) and Clark Handicap (G1) winner Seeking the Soul. June graduates have been busy in the run-up to this year’s sale. On Saturday, James M. Miller’s Lovely Bernadette captured Churchill’s $100,000 Mint Julep Handicap (G3) by a neck. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Wilburn, now 17-8-0-3 with earnings of $568,479. She turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 4/5 at the 2016 OBS Sale before she was purchased by Mr. Miller for $28,000 from Bobby Jones Equine LLC & Santa Fe Thoroughbreds, Agent. watch her under tack video

Last year’s Sale was topped by a Florida-bred colt by First Dude, consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, who sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 3/5 before he was knocked down for $400,000. On Saturday at Santa Anita, that colt, named There and Now, made his debut in a maiden special weight test for trainer Bob Baffert in the colors of Byerly Turk Racing. He battled for the early lead through a half in :44 3/5 before taking charge and drawing away a winner by 2-1/4 lengths, running the 6-1/2 furlongs in 1:15 4/5. watch his under tack video

Last Thursday at Gulfstream Park, Heczor Investment Corp.’s King Humor made it three wins in as many starts with a front-running victory in the $75,000 Ocala Flame Stakes. Consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2017 OBS Sale, he turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before he sold for $50,000. Trained by Victor Barboza, Jr., the 3-year-old colt by Distorted Humor has earned $101,325 to date. watch his under tack video

Paved wins Santa Anita’s Honeymoon Stakes

Ciaglia Racing LLC and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Paved stayed off the pace in the early going in Saturday’s $200,060 Honeymoon Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita, but she rallied on the turn, came between horses to take command in the stretch and drew away late to win by 3-1/2 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Ms Peintour (June ’17, April ’17) checked in third. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Quality Road, who beat the boys earlier in the year in the El Camino Real Derby.  Now 6-3-0-3 for trainer Michael McCarthy, she has earned $242,640 to date. She was purchased by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners for $320,000 out of the Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co. consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

It’s her third graded stakes win and leaves her with a 17-8-0-3 career record and earnings of $568,479. Leonard C. Green’s Sower is now three for three and a stakes winner after leading from gate to wire and winning the $150,000 Jersey Girl Stakes by 4-3/4 lengths at Belmont Park on Sunday. Fellow OBS graduate Take Charge Paula (March ’17) checked in third. Sower is trained by Linda Rice, who purchased the now 3-year-old filly by Flatter for $120,000 out of the Harris Training Center consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after she breezed an Under Tack eighth in : 10 1/5. watch her under tack video

Gary Barber and John C. Oxley’s unbeaten Road to Victory, idle since capturing Churchill’s Golden Rod Stakes (G2) in November, returned to the races in style, rallying to take charge of Woodbine’s $100,00 Alywow stakes a furlong from home and besting fellow OBS graduate Originator (June ’17) by a length and a half. Now three for three for trainer Mark Casse, she has earned $191,086 to date. The 3-year-old daughter of Quality Road sped an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show prior to the 2017 OBS April Sale before she was purchased for $500,000 by Justin Casse, Agent, out of the de Meric Sales consignment. watch her under tack video

e Five Racing Stable’s Florida Fuego came around horses on the turn in Wednesday’s $75,000 Liza Jane Stakes at Gulfstream Park, closed on the outside down the stretch and was up in the last jump to win by a nose. Fellow OBS graduate Writer’s Almanac (April ’17) was another length back in third. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Kantharos, now 6-3-0-1 for trainer David Fawkes with $154,935 in earnings. She sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 4/5 before she was she was purchased for $70,000 out of the Ocala Stud consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video
