Concluding four days that shattered sale records for gross, average and median, Hip No. 924, son of Indian Charlie consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, went to Ashford Stud for $625,000 to top the fourth and final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The bay colt, out of Agatha, by Distorted Humor, a half sister to champion Hishi Akebono and grade one stakes winner Agnes World, worked a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Under Tack Show.  Hip No. 1063, by Colonel John, also consigned by de Meric, was sold to Donato Lanni, Agent, for $310,000. The bay filly, who breezed a quarter in :21 flat, is out of Cinderellaslipper, by Touch Gold, a half sister to champion Eithan.

Mark Casse, Agent, went to $550,000 for Hip No. 1093, a dark bay or brown colt by More Than Ready out of stakes winner Coya, by Deputy Minister, a half sister to stakes winner Return to Paradise. Consigned by Northwest Stud, Agent for Inversiones FI, LLC, he worked a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show.

Hip No. 991, a son of Kitten’s Joy out of Blazing Bliss, by Honour and Glory, from the family of graded winner Rhapsodic, was sold to Narvick International for $400,000. Consigned by Cary Frommer, Agent, the chestnut colt worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.

Hip No. 1143, a daughter of Quality Road consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, who worked a quarter at the Under Tack Show in :21 flat, was sold for $350,000 to Martin S. Schwartz. The bay filly, a half sister to graded stakes winner Senor Rojo, is out of Detect, by Devil’s Bag.

Klaravich Stable, Inc. paid $320,000 for Hip No. 1056, Weekend Holiday, a son of Lookin At Lucky out of Chief Secretary, by Deputy Minister, and a half brother to stakes winner Left a Message. Consigned by Casse Sales LLC (Justin Casse), Agent for Kinsman Farm, the chestnut colt breezed an eighth in :10 2/5.

Hip No. 1019, a gray or roan colt by Curlin consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was purchased by Calumet Farm for $310,000. A half brother to stakes winner Procreate out of graded stakes winner Broad Smile, by Broad Brush, he worked an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show.

Hip No. 915, a daughter of Hard Spun who worked an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show , was sold to Mike Ryan, Agent, for $275,000.  Consigned by S B M Training and Sales, Agent, the chestnut filly is out of stakes placed Acajou, by Horse Chestnut (SAF), a half sister to stakes winner Nakano.

Hip No. 982, a dark bay or brown colt by Horse Greeley consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, was sold to Matt Schera/Ghost Bloodstock for $260,000. Out of stakes winner Bema, by Pulpit, the half brother to graded stakes placed Ocasta worked a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show. Wavertree also sold Hip No. 1044, a son of Spring At Last, to Linda Rice, Agent, for $210,000. The bay colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat, is out of Cercis, by Forty Niner, and is a half brother to graded stakes placed Botarate.

Narvick International went to $250,000 for Hip No. 925, a son of Majesticperfection out of Aheadnotatail, by Unbridled, a daughter of graded stakes winner Highland Penny. The bay colt, consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, Agent, worked an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.`           

Conquest Stables LLC went to 250,000 for No. 1028, a daughter of Into Mischief out of Cafe, by Medaglia d’Oro, a half sister to stakes winner Cin Cin.  Consigned by King’s Equine, Agent for Spendthrift Farm, the bay filly worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat.

Hip No. 928, consigned by Dean’s List, is a dark bay or brown filly out of All of Me, by Unbridled’s Song, a daughter of stakes winner Bold and Gorgeous, who worked an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 at Friday’s Under Tack Session. She was purchased by Linda Rice, Agent for Lady Sheila Stable Two, LLC, for $230,000.

Hip No. 1099, a daughter of Indian Charlie consigned by Costanzo Sales, went to Francisco J Perez – Diaz for $200,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat, is out of Crosswinds, by Storm Cat, a daughter of grade one stakes winning millionaire Flute.

For the session, 178 two-year-olds sold for a total of $13,167,000 compared with 187 horses bringing $10,208,500 at the corresponding session last year. The average price was $73,972, up 35.5% from $54,591 in 2013 while the median was $43,500, rising 45% above $30,000 last year. The buyback percentage was 24.3%; it was 19.4% a year ago. Thirty-five horses sold for $100,000 or more compared with 25 in 2013.

For the entire sale, 767 horses grossed a record $57,032,000 compared with 815 youngsters bringing the previous Spring Sale mark of $48,757,000 achieved last year. The average price was $74,357, up 24.3% over last year’s record $59,825 while the median figure was $47,000, soaring 34.3% above the previous record $35,000 set in 2013. The buyback percentage was 18.5%; it was 14% a year ago. Fifty-two sold for $200,000 or more compared with 38 at the 2013 sale. The sale topper was Hip No. 514, a son of Tapit consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, sold to Mike Repole for $725,000.  The bay colt, out of stakes winner Ready for Fortune, by More Than Ready, worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Wednesday Under Tack Session.

Hip No. 563, a bay filly by Harlan’s Holiday consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was purchased for $525,000 by Donato Lanni, Agent. Out of Ruby Summer, by Mr. Greeley, a half sister to stakes winner Vague, her eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at the distance at last Wednesday’s Under Tack Session. Hip No. 359, a filly by Harlan’s Holiday, also consigned by Eisaman, went to C. C. B., Inc. for $260,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who worked an eighth in :10 flat, is out of  Miz Betty Grace, by Matty G., and a half sister to stakes winner Indian Gracey.  Eisaman also consigned Hip No. 455, a daughter of Afleet Express sold to Mark Casse, Agent, for $260,000. The bay filly, who also breezed an eighth in : 9/4, is out of Phi Beta Diva, by Mr. Greeley, a half sister to stakes winner A Little Gem.

Hip No. 570, a half sister to Triple Crown candidate Social Inclusion by Scat Daddy consigned by Woodside Ranch, Agent, was sold to Green Hills Farm for $425,000. The bay filly, who worked a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show, is out of graded stakes placed Saint Bernadette, by Saint Ballado.

Gary Contessa, Agent, went to $390,000 for Hip No. 384, Amerindian, a daughter of Indian Charlie consigned by James Layden, Agent. The dark bay or brown filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show, is out of My Success, by A.P. Indy, and is a half sister to stakes winner Southern Success.

Hip No. 330, a son of Pure Prize consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Lynn Whiting, Agent for Charles J. Cella, for $350,000. The bay colt, who worked an eighth in :10 2/5 at last Wednesday’s Under Tack Session, is out of Miki’s Melody, by Aptitude, a half sister to stakes winner My Pal Lana. Brennan also sold Hip No. 591, a dark bay or brown More Than Ready filly out of Search and Seizure, by War Chant, a half sister to graded stakes winner Criminologist. She worked an eighth last Wednesday in :10 1/5.

Hip No. 441, Prince of Malibu, a bay colt by Malibu Moon out of graded stakes winner People’s Princess, by Meadowlake, was sold to Mike McCarty for $300,000. Consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, the half brother to graded stakes winner Carolyn’s Cat worked at eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show.

Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, consigned Hip No. 559, a dark bay or brown filly by Congrats sold to Martin S. Schwartz for $260,000. Out of graded stakes placed Royal Card, by Chapel Royal, she worked a quarter in :21 flat last Wednesday.

Hip No. 585, a daughter of Stormy Atlantic consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, also brought $260,000, going to Ben McElroy, Agent. The chestnut filly, who worked an eighth in :10 flat, is out of Scapegoat, by Forty Niner, and is a half sister to stakes winner Tres Coronas.

Hip No 530, a chestnut colt by Street Boss who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat, was sold to Mark Casse, Agent, for  $250,000. Consigned by Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl), Agent, he’s out of Reggae Rose, by Touch Gold, a half sister to graded stakes winner Celtic New Year.

West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. went to $210,000 for Hip No. 545, a son of Discreetly Mine consigned by All In Sales (Tony Bowling), Agent. Out of stakes winner Rockin On, by Swiss Yodeler, the bay colt worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.

Hip No. 489, a bay filly by Tapit out of grade one stakes placed Pursuit of Glory (IRE), by Fusaichi Pegasus, was sold to Gary Contessa, Agent for $205,000. Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, she worked an eighth in :10 1/5.

Hip No. 414, Journey Proud, a son of Harlan’s Holiday consigned by Hartley / DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC, was purchased by Bortolazzo Stable LLC for $200,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 2/5, is out of Oneminutetomidnite, by Street Cry (IRE), a half sister to graded stakes winner Wicapi.

For the day, 196 horses sold for a total of $15,573,000, compared with 213 horses selling for a total of $13,272,500 at the corresponding session a year ago. The average price was $79,454, soaring 27.5% from $62,312 last year, while the median price was $48,500, up 21.3% from $40,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 18.7%, 12.4% in 2013. Forty-four horses sold for $100,000 or more compared with 26 a year ago.

Hip No. 218, a son of Mineshaft consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was sold to Frank Fletcher Racing LLC for $550,000 to top the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The chestnut colt, who worked an Under Tack Show eighth in :10 1/5, is out of Kelly Pond, by Deputy Minister, and is a half brother to graded stakes placed Clear Pond.

David M. Clark went to $340,000 for Hip No. 280, a bay colt by Bellamy Road out of Long Drive Home, by Linkage, and a half brother to stakes winner Out for a Spin. Consigned by Bo Hunt, Agent, he breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Tuesday’s Under Tack session.

Hip No. 62, a daughter of Harlan’s Holiday consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, went to Narvick International for $270,000. The bay filly, who worked an eight in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show, is out of Garden Party, by  A. P Jet, a half sister to grade one winner Without Feathers.

Hip No. 161, a filly by Flatter consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was purchased for $250,000 by John Fort, Agent for Gainesway Farm. The dark bay or brown filly, whose eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at Tuesday’s Under Tack session, is out of Hurricane Hannah, by Southern Halo, a half sister to graded stakes winner Lovely Lil.

R N B Racing LLC paid $220,000 for Hip No. 250, a daughter of Scat Daddy consigned by Harris Training Center LLC, Agent. The chestnut filly, a half sister to stakes placed Feels Like Flying out of La Violette, by Coronado’s Quest, worked an eighth at the Under Tack Show in :10 flat.

Hip No. 245, consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent, is a half brother to stakes winner Harlan’s Pure by Horse Greeley, and was sold for $210,000 to Klaravich Stable, Inc. The chestnut colt, who worked an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show, is out of Lantern Glow, by Mineshaft.  Klaravich also went to $200,000 for Hip No. 67, a bay filly by Warrior’s Reward consigned by King’s Equine, Agent for Spendthrift Farm. Out of stakes winner G G’s Dolly, by Comic Strip, her eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at the distance at last Tuesday’s Under Tack Session.

Hip No. 42, Back Flip, a chestnut filly by Super Saver consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold to Steven W. Young, Agent, for $200,000. Out of stakes winner For Royalty, by Not For Love, she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show

Hip No. 138, a daughter of Yes It’s True consigned by  Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg & Karen Dodd), Agent, went to  Conquest Stables LLC for $200,000. Out of Hold the Sugar, by Forest Wildcat, a half sister to stakes winner Red Eye, the bay filly worked a quarter in :21 flat.   

For the day, 173 horses sold for a total of $11,512,000, compared with 202 horses bringing $11,632,000 at last year’s opening session. The average price was $66,543, up 15.5% compared with $57,584 in 2013, while the median price was $45,000, up 26.8% from $35,500 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 23.5%; it was 13.3% last year.  Thirty-eight horses sold for $100,000 or more compared with 34 in 2013.

Hip No. 1187, a son of Speightstown consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent for Stonestreet Stables, breezed a quarter in :20 3/5 to post the fastest work at the distance at the fourth and final session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Spring Sale of Two Year Olds in Training. The chestnut colt, out of Emptythetill by Holy Bull, is a half brother to graded stakes winner Conveyance.

Five youngsters worked quarters in :20 4/5.

Hip No. 924, a bay colt  by Indian Charlie consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, is out of Agatha by Distorted Humor, a half sister to champion Hishi Akebono.

Hip No. 1031, consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, is a bay colt by Sky Mesa out of Callie’s Joy, by Distorted Humor, a half sister to stakes winner Rileys Monarch.

Hip No. 1077, Slate Mills, a chestnut colt by Midshipman consigned by Pick View LLC,  is out of Colorama, by Giant’s Causeway,  from the family of graded stakes winner Grecian Urn.

Hip No. 1105, consigned by A.R. Equine, Agent, is a dark bay or brown Ready’s Image colt out of Crystal Got Even, by Stephen Got Even, a half sister to graded stakes winner Reba’s Gold.

Hip No. 1181, a bay colt by Stormy Atlantic consigned by All in Sales (Tony Bowling), Agent, is out of Ellie Boo, by Pulpit, a full sister to stakes placed Pulpit’s Treasure.

Hip No. 1130, a bay filly consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, is by Discreetly Mine out of stakes winner Deb’s Favoite Gift, by Monetary Gift. Woods also consigned Hip No. 1143, a bay filly by Quality Road out of Detect, by Devil’s Bag, and is a half sister to graded stakes winner Senor Rojo.

Hip No. 1180, consigned by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, is a chestnut filly by Mizzen Mast out of Electric Cove, by Spinning World, from the family of grade one winner Looie Capote.

Hip No. 1207, a son of Wildcat Heir consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, worked the session and the entire Under Tack Show’s fastest eighth, stopping the timer in :9 3/5. The bay colt is out of Exquisite Beauty, by Bertrando, from the family of grade one winner Idiot Proof. 

Two horses worked eighths in :9 4/5.

Hip No. 928, consigned by Dean’s List, is a dark bay or brown filly by Freud out of All of Me, by Unbridled’s Song, a daughter of stakes winner Bold and Gorgeous.

Hip No. 1008, a bay colt by Henny Hughes consigned by Whitman Sales, Agent, is out of Brahms Allegro, by Brahms, a half sister to stakes placed Tally Ho Dixie.

Two horses shared honors for the session’s fastest three eighths, stopping the timer in :33 1/5. Hip No. 949, a Mass Media colt consigned by Boutte Sales, Agent, is a dark bay or brown colt out of Appropre, by Kris S., a half sister to stakes placed Appropriately. Hip No. 988, consigned by All Dreams Equine, Agent, is a dark bay or brown colt by Indygo Shiner out of Bexley, by Level Sands, a half sister to stakes winner Zada Belle.

All Dreams also consigned Hip No. 953, Sea Warrior, a bay colt by Warrior’s Reward out of stakes winner A Sea Trippi, by Trippi, who worked the distance in :33 2/5.
