E B Ryder takes Gulfstream’s Anka Germania Stakes

Miller Racing LLC’s E B Ryder  relaxed well of the pace in Saturday’s $90, 000 Anka Germania Stakes at Gulfstream Park, circled horses on the turn, then charged down the lane and got up to win by half a length over fellow OBS graduate Adriani (March ’12). It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Bluegrass Cat, consigned by Casse Sales, Agent, to the 2012 OBS April Sale. All American Horses LLC’s Florida Sun saved ground in the early going of Calder’s $65,000 Leave Me Alone Stakes on Saturday, moved out to find room turning for home then rallied down the stretch, hit the front in the final sixteenth and scored by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Curlin’s Gold (April ’13) checked  in third.  It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Belgravia, now 7-2-1-3 with earnings of $78,758. A two time OBS graduate, she was sold first by Oak Vale Farm at the 2012 August Sale, then resold for $15,000 by Mayberry Farm, Agent, at the 2013 June Sale after working an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.  watch her under tack video

Acclaimed Racing Stable’s Mr. Baker posted his first stakes victory in Calder’s $65,000 Ponche Handicap on Saturday, taking command at the top to the stretch and drawing off to win by 2-1/2 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Trinni Heart (June ’12) settling for third.  It’s the third straight win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Imperialism, sold for $18,000 by breeder Get Away Farm at the 2011 OBS Sale after an Under Tack quarter in :22 flat. Ronald Ulrich’s King Henry defended his title in Saturday’s $50,000 Penn Dash Stakes at Penn National, taking the lead at the start and staying there all the way, reporting home by a length and three quarters over fellow OBS graduate Evolution Rocks (August ’10). James L. Driver and H. Ywachetta’s Rivers Run Deep has found a home at Belterra Park, scoring his second straight lopsided victory, this time going wire to wire and taking the $50,000 Green Carpet Stakes by ten lengths following his 12-3/4 length win in last month’s Tall Stack Stakes. The 3-year-old colt by Ready’s Image was sold by Rod McVey, Agent, for $77,000 to Garry Simms, Agent for James Driver, at the 2013 OBS June Sale after he worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Jack Milton, June grads have big holiday weekend

Gary Barber’s Jack Milton trailed in the early going of the $300, 000 Poker Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park on Memorial Day, but came wide off the turn, hit the front near the eighth pole and drew off from there to score by 2-3/4 lengths. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old son of War Front, consigned by Eddie Woods to the 2012 OBS March Sale. A trio of OBS June Sale graduates posted stakes wins on over the weekend, with the 2014 June Sale set to begin a four-day run on Tuesday, June 17.

Hronis Racing LLC’s Sky High Gal tracked the leader in Sunday’s $82,300 Mizdirection Stakes on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita, took the lead a furlong from home and edged away to a 1-1/4 length victory. It’s the third stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Leroidesanimaux (BGZ), now 9-5-1-1 with $232,533 in earnings. Conquest Stables LLC’s Conquest Top Gun stepped into stakes company on Sunday fresh off a maiden special victory  in April at Keeneland, set the pace in Woodbine’s $128,843 Marine Stakes, and although narrowly defeated in a photo finish, was awarded his first stakes win via disqualification. Purchased out of the Eddie Woods consignment for a sale topping $525,000 last June after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, the lightly raced colt by Pioneerof the Nile is now 4-2-0-1 and has earned $110,099. watch his under tack video

James W. Green’s Skipberry Wine was last in the early going in Saturday’s $100,000 Louisiana Legends Turf Stakes at Evangeline Downs, but swept past the entire field down the lane and got home first by half a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Skip Away, consigned by Brookshire Farm, Agent, to the 2011 OBS June Sale. B J D Thoroughbreds LLC’s Right to Vote picked up his second stakes win of the year on Memorial Day at Prairie Meadows, taking charge of the $75,000 Jim Rasmussen Memorial Stakes on the turn going on to a 1-3/4 length victory. Three for five this year, the 5-year-old graded stakes placed gelding by Political Force has three stakes wins to his credit, a 21-7-2-4 record and $412,124 in earnings. Consigned by Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, Agent, he was purchased by Doug Cauthen, Agent, for $20,000 at the 2011 OBS March Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. watch his under tack video

Black Hawk Stable’s Alsvid racked up his seventh stakes win in Saturday’s $75,000 Prairie Express Stakes at Prairie Meadows, rallying between horses from off the pace and scoring by half a length. It’s the first win of the year for the graded stakes placed 5-year-old son of Officer, giving him a 23-10-6-2 record and earnings of $678,215. He was sold for $55,000 by Stephens Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

OBS June grads score Sunday stakes wins

A pair of OBS June Sale graduates posted stakes wins on Sunday, with the 2014 June Sale set to begin a four-day run on Tuesday, June 17.

Spring in the Air rallies to take Woodbine’s Hendrie Stakes

John C. Oxley’s Spring in the Air circled horses on the turn then closed with a rush on the outside to win Saturday’s $162, 891 Hendrie Stakes (G3) at Woodbine by a length. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Spring at Last, sold by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale for $130,000 after a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa’s Itsmyluckyday is also closing in on a million after taking command of Saturday’s $74,500 Majestic Light Stakes at Monmouth Park on the turn and waltzing home from there to a length and a quarter victory. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Lawyer Ron, now 16-7-3-1 with earnings $932,600. Istanford beats the boys in the Arlington Classic

Ike & Dawn Thrash, Janet Alley and Sam Alley’s Istanford led the boys a merry chase in Saturday’s $150, 000 Arlington Classic Stakes (G3), going right to the front at the break and staying there all the way en route to a one length decision. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Istan, sold for $25,000 by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, at the 2012 OBS August Selected Yearling Sale. Revolutionary scores in the Pimlico Special

WinStar Farm LLC’s Revolutionary, a tough luck second in last month’s Oaklawn Handicap (G2), made his own luck in the $300,000 Pimlico Special Stakes (G3), coming from out of the clouds to get up in the final yards to win by a neck. It’s the third graded stakes score for the winner of last year’s Withers Stakes (G3) and Louisiana Derby (G2), now 12-5-2-3 with earnings of $1,347,600. The 4-year-old so of War Pass was sold for $235,000 at the 2012 OBS March Sale by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, after an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show.  watch his under tack video

Abdullah Saeed Almaddah’s Green Mask had an eventful journey en route to his first stakes win, looking for room before altering course in the final furlong and drawing clear to win Saturday’s $98,000 Paradise Creek Stakes on the Belmont Park turf course by a length and three quarters, with fellow OBS graduate Chart Topper (June ’13) checking in third. Mark DeDomenico LLC and North American Thoroughbred Horse Company’s Saturday Nite Ride went to the lead and never looked back en route to a four length victory in Saturday’s $50,000 Wild Rose Handicap at Northlands Park. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Flower Alley, now 12-6-0-3 with $172,351 in earnings. Stopchargingmaria wins Pimlico’s Black-Eyed Susan Stakes

Repole Stable’s Stopchargingmaria took the lead at the top of the stretch of Pimlico’s $500, 000 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2), was headed briefly in mid-stretch but fought back under Javier Castellano and was up at the wire to win by a head. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 3-year-old Tale of the Cat filly, sold for $220,000 by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2013 OBS March Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.  She’s the second OBS grad to win the Black-Eyed Susan, joining Joseph F. Graffeo’s 2001 winner Two Item Limit. The win gives her an 8-4-1-1 record and earnings of $874,000. watch her under tack video

Henny Jenney get first stakes win at Presque Isle

Bernard G. Schaeffer’s Henny Jenney picked up her first stakes win on Sunday at Presque Isle Downs, rallying from off the pace, hitting the front in the final furlong and scoring by three quarters of a length in the $100, 200 Inaugural Stakes, with fellow OBS graduate Norquay (April ’13) settling for third. Second last January in the OBS Sprint Stakes, the 3-year-old daughter of Henny Hughes is now 7-2-3-1 and has earned $125,520. She was purchased by Tim Kegel, Agent, for $100,000 out of the Mayberry Farm consignment at the 2013 OBS April Sale after an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Mr. Amore Stable’s Ribo Bobo has gone north for the summer but keeps on winning, this time pressing the pace in Saturday’s $79,000 Decathlon Stakes at Monmouth Park before drawing off in the stretch to a 1-1/2 length victory. That makes 13 wins in the last fifteen starts for the 6-year-old gelding by Louis Quatorze, consigned as a weanling by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, to the 2010 OBS Winter Mixed Sale. Now 52-18-5-4, he has earned $774,655 to date.

OBS March grads win at first asking at Churchill, Santa Anita

A pair of 2014 OBS March graduates got off on the right foot on Friday, winning at first asking at Churchill Downs and Santa Anita.

B & C Racing’s Cinco Charlie bounced right to the lead in his debut at Churchill Downs in a maiden special and stayed there all the way en route to a 2-3/4 length victory. The 2-year-old son of Indian Charlie, sold for $190,000 by Cary Frommer, Agent, after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, picked up a check for $26,400. watch his under tack video

At Santa Anita, Success Racing’s Henry’s Holiday was overlooked at 9-1 in his debut in a maiden special, but saved ground on the turn, came between horses to take charge in the lane then drew away to a 3-1/2 length victory over fellow March grad Sky Preacher.
