October Sale Supplemental Catalog now online

The Supplemental Catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2022 October Yearling Sale is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com and available in printed form on the OBS sales grounds. The two-day sale is set for Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11^th and 12^th.

Twenty-two Selected Yearlings have been supplemented and will sell as Hip No.’s 186 – 207. Twenty-three horses have been added to the Open Yearling Sale, selling as Hip No.’s 661 – 684.

The Selected Yearling Sale begins Tuesday, October 11^th at 12:00 p.m. with Hip No.’s 1 – 207 offered for sale. The Open Yearling Sale, now cataloged as Hip No.’s 251 – 684, is set for Wednesday, October 12^th and will begin at 10:00 a.m.

OBS will again offer Online Bidding during the October Sale. Buyers will be able to go to the OBS website and register to gain bidding approval, then access the OBS Bidding Screen with their credentials. Traditionally a showcase for the offspring of first crop stallions, the OBS October Sale boasts yearlings by champion OBS graduate Mitole, champion Vino Rosso, grade one stakes winning OBS graduate World of Trouble and graded stakes winners Catalina Cruiser, Catholic Boy, Enticed, Flameaway, Maximus Mischief, Omaha Beach, Preservationist and St. Patrick’s Day.

A strong group of stallions whose first crop is already making an impact at the races includes OBS graduates Bucchero and Sharp Azteca, as well as Accelerate, Always Dreaming, Awesome Slew, Bolt d’Oro, City of Light, Cloud Computing, Girvin, Good Magic, Mendelssohn and Oscar Performance.

OBS graduates Kantharos and Midnight Lute head the roster of established sires, a group also including Blame, Central Banker, Constitution, Dialed In, Hard Spun, Khozan, Malibu Moon, Midshipman, Munnings, Not This Time, Nyquist, Practical Joke, Street Boss and Upstart.

The Supplemental catalog boasts an impressive roster of sires not represented in the original October catalog including Candy Ride (ARG), Classic Empire, Flatter, Ghostzapper, Street Sense and Uncle Mo.

The Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF, TDN, Blood Horse and Pastthewire websites.

The online catalog’s main page contains a link to a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed.

The sortable master index has advanced search and filter capability and allows shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using these features can be found in the index header and a step-by-step tutorial is available in the index as well.

October Sale grad Price Talk takes the Remington Green Stakes

Gaining Ground Racing LLC’s Price Talk stalked the early leaders in Monday’s $100,000 Remington Green Stakes at Remington Park, went after them in the stretch and was best by half a length at the wire. It’s the second straight stakes victory for the 5-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy, trained by Brad Cox, now 15-6-2-3 with $330,884 in earnings. He was sold by Stuart Morris, Agent, at the 2018 OBS October Yearling Sale for $70,000.

Reeves Thoroughbred Racing’s Acoustic Ave. took the lead at the start of the $97,854 Aspirant Stakes at Finger Lakes and never looked back enroute to a facile 9-1/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Mo Trump (January ‘21) checked in second. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Maclean’s Music, consigned to the 2022 OBS Spring Sale by Sequel Bloodstock, Agent for Chester & Mary Broman, and sold for $200,000 after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Scaramouche, Lucky Score post weekend graded stakes wins

Nicholas Cammarano, Jr.’s Scaramouche stumbled at the start of the $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes (G2) on Saturday at Parx Racing, took charge on the turn, then drew away to score by 5-1/2 lengths. It’s the second stakes victory for the 3-year-old son of Munnings, purchased for $20,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2021 OBS June Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Cole Stakes at Belmont at Aqueduct, took the lead after turning for home and was best by three quarters of a length at the wire. That’s six stakes wins for the graded stakes winning 5-year-old son of Mucho Macho Man, trained by Christophe Clement, now 24-7-5-3 with earnings of $761,800. William Branch’s Carotari went right to the front in the $100,000 Laurel Dash Stakes at Pimlico and stayed there to the finish, hanging on gamely to score by a nose. A pair of OBS graduates scored in stakes races on Tuesday at Kentucky Downs.

Carol A. Reitman’s Freedom Speaks rated kindly just off the pace in the $500,000 Music City Stakes, found room between horses a quarter mile out, then came with a charge to get up late and score by a head. It’s the second straight win and first stakes victory for the lightly raced 3-year-old filly by American Freedom, now 4-3-1-0 with earnings of $392,350 for trainer Jeremiah Englehart. October graduate Awesome Strong takes the Affirmed Stakes at Gulfstream

CSLR Ranch Partners’ unbeaten Awesome Strong stalked the early leaders in Saturday’s $200,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Affirmed Stakes at Gulfstream, took over on the turn and cruised home from there to a convincing three length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Apocalypso (March ’22) settled for third. It’s the second straight FTBOA Sire Stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Awesome Slew, purchased for $30,000 out of the Sue Vacek consignment at the 2021 OBS October Selected Yearling Sale. Now three for three for trainer Jorge Delgado, he has earned $218,000 to date.

Winning Stables, Inc.’s Feast stepped into stakes company for the first time in the $100,000 Rumson Stakes at Monmouth Park, took the lead at the start, surrendered it a furlong out then came again late to score by half a length. It’s the third straight win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Twirling Candy, trained by Gerald S. Bennett, now 16-6-1-2 with $234,259 in earnings.
