Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables LLC and Bethlehem Stables LLC’s World of Trouble tracked the leaders wide down the backstretch of Aqueduct’s $400,000 Carter Handicap (G1) on Saturday, swept toward the front on the turn, opened daylight in the stretch and coasted home a winner by half a length. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Kantharos, trained by Jason Servis, now 11-7-2-1 with $891,400 in earnings. Consigned by Darsan Inc., Agent, he went through the ring at the 2016 OBS August Yearling Sale.

The third time was the charm for Rockingham Ranch & Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet in the $2,500,000 Golden Shaheen (G1). After a narrow loss to fellow OBS graduate Mind Your Biscuits a year ago and a second place finish in 2016, the 7-year-old Florida-bred son of Kantharos took the lead at the start and never looked back, leading from gate to wire and scoring by a length and a half. Trained by Jorge Navarro, he now boasts five graded stakes wins, compiled a 25-12-7-2 career record and earned $3,098,609 to date. Hronis Racing LLC’s St. Joe Bay quickly opened up a daylight lead in Saturday’s $200,702 San Carlos Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita and held it to the wire, cruising to victory by three lengths. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Saint Anddan, trained by John Sadler, now 36-7-7-6 with earnings of $734,515. Smith, Span Investments Inc. and George DeBenedicty’s Trenchtown Cat hopped straight from a maiden special victory into Saturday’s $125,000 Sanibel Island Stakes at Gulfstream, took command from the start and led all the way, holding on gamely to score by a neck. A 3-year-old old daughter of Discreet Cat, she was purchased for $36,000 out of the Randy Miles consignment at the 2018 OBS June Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. OBS graduates were 1-2 3 in a pair of stakes races on Florida Cup Day at Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday.
William Stiritz’s Wildwood’s Beauty took the $115,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies Stakes, tracking fellow OBS graduate Eyeinthesky (October ’17) early and then charging past her in the stretch to a 3-1/2 length victory. Here Comes Jackie (March ’18) was a neck back completing the OBS trifecta. It was the stakes debut for the winner, a 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Kantharos, now 5-2-3-0 with $134,340 in earnings for trainer Scott Becker. Consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, to the 2017 October Yearling Sale, she was purchased by Mr. Stiritz for $47,000.
OBS Yearling Sale graduates dominated the $115,000 Pleasant Acres Stallions Distaff Turf Stakes, with Sabal Racing Stable’s Crown and Sugar surging three wide to the lead in the stretch and beating Bitacora (August ’15) by 2-3/4 lengths. Supercommittee (August ’16) checked in third. It’s the first stakes victory for the 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Crown of Thorns, purchased for $1,500 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2016 August Sale. Trained by Darien Rodriguez, she’s now 23-11-1-1 and has earned $217,637 to date.

Ltd.’s Mr Melody is the newest OBS millionaire after finding room in between horses in the stretch of Sunday’s $2,075,000 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (G1) at Chukyo Racecourse and scoring by half a length. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old son of Scat Daddy, consigned to the 2017 OBS April Sale by Harris Training Center LLC, Agent, and purchased for $400,000 by Narvick International after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Allied Racing Stable, LLC’s By My Standards jumped from a maiden win last month straight into Saturday’s $1,000,000 Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds, but took the class jump in stride. Dismissed at 22-1, the colt by OBS graduate Goldencents stayed close early, challenged the leader in the final sixteenth and was best by three quarters of a length. The 3-year-old filly by Tale of Ekati was purchased for $50,000 out of the Pick View LLC consignment at the 2018 OBS June Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Mark Norman and Normand Stables LLC’s Shes Our Fastest saved ground in the early going of the $50,000 Yellow Rose Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday, slipped through on the inside passing the eighth pole and drew away late to win by 2-1/2 lengths. It’s the third stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Oratory, trained by Scott Gelner, now 15-5-3-2 with $183,110 in earnings. The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2019 Spring Sale of Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com. The online catalog’s main page contains a link to a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed.
The sortable master index has been updated with advanced search and filter capability to allow shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using the new features can be found in the index header.
The iPad version of the catalog can be accessed via the equineline Sales Catalog App. The App allows users to download and view the catalog, receive updates and results, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. A total of 1,221 juveniles have been cataloged for the four-day sale, set for Tuesday through Friday, April 23rd – 26th with all sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m. Hips 1-304 will sell on Tuesday, Hips 305- 608 on Wednesday, Hips 609-912 will be offered Thursday and Hips 913-1221 on Friday.
The Under Tack Show will span six days, beginning Monday, April 15th and continuing through Saturday, April 20th. Hips 1-203 will breeze Monday, Hips 204-406 go on Tuesday, Hips 407-608 on Wednesday, Hips 609-813 go Thursday, Hips 814-1017 on Friday and Hips 1018-1221 go on Saturday. All six sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF, TDN and Blood-Horse websites.

Conrad Farms’ Shamrock Rose settled for third in the Azeri (G2) but her four race win streak at the end of 2018 ended with a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) and the Eclipse Award as the year’s Champion Female Sprinter. The 4-year-old daughter of First Dude, trained by Mark Casse, is now 12-5-2-2 with $959,962 in earnings. In his abbreviated career, Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence’s Patternrecognition, was a top class race horse, winning a pair of graded stakes including Aqueduct’s prestigious Cigar Mile Handicap (G1). The Florida-bred son of Adios Charlie, trained by Chad Brown, retired with a 12-5-5-0 record and earnings of $1,012,325. In all, since the beginning of 2018, 66 Spring Sale graduates won or placed 111 times in graded stakes, with 17 accounting for 27 graded wins. A total of 178 have won or placed 360 times in stakes races with 70 amassing 107 stakes victories.
