Jay Em Ess Stable’s Ms Peintour stalked the leaders early in Sunday’s $101,000 Astra Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita, came out to take the lead after turning for home and eased away late to score by two lengths. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Paynter, trained by Brian Koriner, now 13-3-1-2 with $166,534 in earnings. Tom R. Durant’s Silver Dust, never far from the lead down the backstretch of the $97,000 Louisiana Stakes (G3) on Saturday at Fair Grounds, took charge on the outside a quarter mile from home and widened down the stretch to a 4-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Blended Citizen (March ’17). It’s the third graded stakes victory for the 6-year-old gelding by Tapit, purchased for $510,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale after breezing a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Blue Heaven Farm’s Starship Jubilee captured Gulfstream’s $150,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Stakes for the third consecutive year on Saturday, leading from gate to wire and beating fellow OBS graduate Beautiful Lover (April ’18) by 3-1/4 lengths. That’s eight stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred multiple graded stakes winning daughter of Indy Wind, now 33-15-5-3 for trainer Kevin Attard with earnings of $1,261,597. The two time OBS graduate was sold by The Acorn at the 2014 August Yearling Sale then consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm to the 2015 April Sale where she went through the ring after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. watch her under tack video

Gary Barber’s Two Sixty took the lead at the start of Saturday’s $125,000 Gasparilla Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and kept it to the wire, holding off a late challenge to score by a neck. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Uncaptured, a two time OBS graduate, sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2018 October Sale before she was purchased for $260,000 out of the SGV Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2019 March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Five OBS graduates are finalists for the 49th annual Eclipse Awards. The winners will be announced on January 23 at Gulfstream Park.

William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Mitole is a finalist for Horse of the Year as well as in the Older Dirt Male and Male Sprinter categories.  Trained by Steve Asmussen, the son of Eskendereya won six of seven starts, including victories in the Churchill Downs S. (G1), Metropolitan Handicap (G1), Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and Forego Stakes (G1). He capped the year with a decisive victory over fellow OBS graduate Shancelot (March ’18) in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) and goes to stud with a 14-10-2-2 record and earnings of $3,104,910. Consigned to the 2017 April Sale by Grassroots Training & Sales, the 4-year-old colt by Eskendereya was sold for $140,000 after an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. watch his under tack video

A finalist in the Older Dirt Female category, Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables LLC and Allen Racing LLC’s Midnight Bisou won seven of eight starts in 2019 for trainer Steve Asmussen, all in graded stakes, highlighted by her dramatic victory over co-finalist Elate in the Personal Ensign (G1) at Saratoga. The daughter of OBS graduate Midnight Lute was purchased by Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 April Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. She ended the year with a 19-12-4-3 record, all of her wins in graded stakes company. She has earned $3,750,000 to date and is currently in training at the Fair Grounds for a date in the $20-million Saudi  Cup on February 29.  watch her under tack video

A pair of OBS graduates took different roads to the finals of the 2YO Male division. Jeff Drown and Don Rachel’s unbeaten Structor made his case for an Eclipse Award with a victory over fellow OBS graduate Billy Batts (March ’19) in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). The now 3-year-old colt by Palace Malice, trained by Chad Brown, also captured Belmont’s Pilgrim Stakes (G3) in his previous start. Now three for three with earnings of $709,500 to date, he turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5 before he was purchased for $850,000 out of the Pick View LLC consignment at the 2019 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

Exline-Border Racing LLC, David A. Bernsen & Susanna Wilson’s Storm the Court was overlooked at 45-1 in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), but took the lead at the start and never gave it up, holding off a late run by fellow OBS April graduate Anneau d’Or to win by a neck. The son of Court Vision, trained by Peter Eurton, was also third in Santa Anita’s American Pharoah (G1). Consigned to the 2019 April Sale by Woodside Ranch, Agent, he worked an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 before he was purchased for $60,000 by Marette Farrell, Agent for Exline-Border Racing LLC. Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables LLC and Bethlehem Stables LLC’s World of Trouble, a finalist in both the Male Sprinter and Male Turf Horse categories, won all four of his starts in 2019. On dirt he captured the Gulfstream Park Sprint and Carter Handicap (G1) and on turf he  scored in Churchill’s Twin Spires Turf Sprint (G2) and Belmont’s Jaipur Invitational (G1). Trained by Jason Servis, the Florida-bred son of Kantharos goes to stud with a 13-9-2-1 career record and earnings of $1,263,300.  Consigned by Darsan Inc., Agent, he went through the ring at the 2016 OBS August Yearling Sale.

OBS graduate Texas Wedge got the New Year off to a good start, rating between horses in the early going of Santa Anita’s $202,500 Joe Hernandez Stakes (G2), closing to take the lead in the final sixteenth and scoring by three quarters of a length.  It’s the first stakes victory for the 5-year-old son of Colonel John, racing in the colors of Altamira Racing Stable, Rafter JR Ranch LLC, STD Racing Stable and A. Miller. Now 13-5-3-2 for trainer Peter Miller, he has earned $313,530 to date.  After turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 prior to the 2017 OBS March Sale, he was purchased for $30,000 out of the Richardson Bloodstock consignment.  watch his under tack video

Koichi Nishikawa’s Cafe Pharoah provided a nice early return on investment in his debut on Saturday at Nakayama Racecourse, taking the lead at the start under globetrotting superstar rider Ryan Moore, then powering his way down the stretch to a ten length victory. Trained by Noriyuki Hori, the victory was worth $64,220. Consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2019 OBS March Sale, the 2-year-old colt by American Pharoah turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5 before he was purchased for $475,000 by Narvick International, Agent.  watch his under tack video

OXO Equine’s Instilled Regard saved ground in the early going of Gulfstream’s $200,000 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes (G2) on Saturday, slipped through between horses after turning for home and rallied down the stretch for a half length victory.  It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Arch, who turned in an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before he was purchased for $1,050,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale. Imaginary Stables and Glen Ellis’ War Story is closing on on the $3-million mark after putting in a strong late run to take the $100,000 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes (G3) on Saturday at Gulfstream by a length and a half over fellow OBS graduate Phat Man (March ’16). That’s five stakes wins for the sturdy 7-year-old son of Northern Afleet, trained by Elizabeth Dobles, giving him a 38-8-7-5 career record and $2,984,996 in earnings. Shea D Boy’s Stable’s Bank  On Shea led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Saturday’s $501,500 New York Stallion Series Stakes at Aqueduct, closing on the inside down the stretch and getting up in time to beat Dream Bigger (April ’19) by a nose, with Captain Bombastic (March ’19) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Central Banker, sold for $110,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2019 April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. OBS graduates were 1-2-3 in the $125,000 FTBOA City of Ocala Florida Stallion Stakes on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, with Brent Fernung and Eugene Cahalan’s unbeaten J P’s Delight pressing the pace before taking charge in the stretch and drawing away to beat Wildwood’s Beauty (October ’17) by 2-3/4 lengths, with R Prerogative (March ’18, January ’17) another length back in third.  Now three for three for trainer Kathleen O’Connell, the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of J P’s Gusto has earned $118,100 to date. Consigned to the 2018 OBS June Sale by Journeyman Bloodstock Services, Inc. (Brent & Crystal Fernung), Agent, she went through the ring after an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. The 2-year-old daughter of Tapiture is a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Pelican State Thoroughbreds as a yearling at the 2018 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased for $87,000 out of the Paul Sharp consignment at the 2019 June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.
