Jerry Hollendorfer’s graded stakes placed Indian Gracey posted her first stakes win on Saturday at Sacramento, edging fellow OBS graduate English Royal (April ’10) by a head in the $75, 000 California State Fair Sprint Handicap. The 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Indian Ocean, sold by Nick de Meric, Agent, for $34,000 at the 2010 OBS April Sale, is now 8-3-2-2 with earnings of $145,360.  watch her under tack video

Thomas D. Shank and Stan Young’s Good Lord made it two stakes victories in a row on Saturday, wearing down fellow OBS graduate Noble’s Promise in the stretch of Ellis Park’s $50,000 Don Bernhardt Stakes to win by half a length. That’s two wins in seven starts for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Greatness, consigned by Tradewinds Farm, Agent, to the 2009 OBS June Sale. Trainer Rick Violette had Klaravich Stables Inc. and William H. Lawrence’s Spurious Precision  ready to roll in his debut on Saturday at Saratoga, and the High Cotton colt, bred in Florida by Michael Chamberlain, overcame a sluggish start to draw away from his $80,000 maiden special weight field and win by 3-1/2 lengths in a snappy 1:03 2/5 for the 5-1/2 furlongs. Klaravich and Lawrence are hoping for a repeat of 2011, when their OBS graduate High Cotton colt Currency Swap (March ’11, October ’09) parlayed his winning Saratoga debut into a victory in the Hopeful Stakes (G1) later in the meet. Spurious Precision was purchased for $105,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at this year’s OBS April Sale; Currency Swap was sold by the same consignor a year ago. watch his under tack video

Out west, Sam Britt and Michael House’s 2012 OBS April graduate Gabriel Charles had a tougher time in his debut at Del Mar, but came running late and scored by a nose in a 5-1/2 furlong $71,050 maiden special weight test. In the wake of a record shattering two-year-old sale season, these other graduates of 2012 OBS juvenile auctions are already making an impact at the races:

Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith’s Drum Roll overcame a poor break in his debut in a maiden special weight test at Monmouth on July 8^th, but drove to the lead on the inside around the turn then drew out to a 2-3/4 length victory. Altimira Racing Stable, Michael Bloom and Lisa Kruse’s Heir Kitty was much the best in a maiden special weight test on the turf course at Betfair Hollywood Park on July 8^th, romping to a 4-1/2 length win in her racing debut. The Florida-bred daughter of Wildcat Heir is a two time OBS graduate, consigned first to the 2010 Fall Mixed Sale before being purchased for $32,000 out of the Southern Cypress Stable consignment at this year’s April Sale. watch her under tack video

On June 28^th, a pair of 2012 OBS juvenile graduates scored convincingly at first asking on both coasts. At Hollywood, Karl Watson, Mike Pegram & Paul Weitman’s April sale topper Executiveprivilege overcame a slow start to win a 5-1/2 furlong maiden special weight race going way by 4-1/2 lengths. Purchased for $650,000 from Eddie Woods, Agent, the filly by First Samurai earned $30,000 for her efforts. watch her under tack video

Earlier that afternoon back east at Belmont, Repole Stable’s Onetwentyeight, a $150,000 March purchase, took the lead at the start of a 5-1/2 furlong maiden special weight dash and never looked back en route to a five length victory. Consigned by breeder Ocala Stud, the colt by Discreet Cat’s first payday was worth $42,000. He returned with a third place finish in Saratoga’s $300,000 Sanford Stakes in July.  watch his under tack video

Mike McCarty’s Special Jo took the first step toward justifying his $230,000 price tag in her debut at Churchill Downs on May 25^th. The colt by Johannesburg made short work of a maiden special weight field, romping to a six length victory in his only trip to the post to date. After breaking his maiden at first asking at Betfair Hollywood Park on April 26^th, Jerry Durant’s Amarish opened up in the stretch and drew away to a 4-1/2 length victory in the $100,000 Willard L. Proctor Memorial Stakes over the same surface on June 16^th. Sold for $200,000 by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, at the OBS March Sale, the 2-year-old gelding by Scat Daddy has earned $91,200 to date. watch his under tack video

That same afternoon at Hollywood, Gary & Cecil Barber and Kevin Tsujihara’s Miss Empire, who settled for fourth in her debut last month, made the most of the education and rallied from off the pace to an impressive 4-3/4 length victory in the $100,000 Cinderella Stakes.  One for two with earnings of $63,120, the 2-year-old Empire Maker filly was sold for $165,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the same sale. watch her under tack video

Frank Calabrese’s Romacaca picked up her second graded stakes win on Saturday on the Arlington Park turf course, holding on gamely in the stretch to win the $200, 000 Modesty Handicap (G3) by a neck. That’s two wins in five starts this year for the 6-year-old Florida-bred mare by Running Stag, a two-time OBS graduate, consigned by breeder Cashel Stud to the 2007 August Sale and 2008 April Sale. Karl Watson, Mike Pegram & Paul Weitman’s 2012 OBS April sale topper Executiveprivilege had little trouble stepping into stakes company off an impressive June debut, stalking the early pace in the $150,000 Landaluce Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on Saturday before taking command and drawing off to win by 3-1/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Miss Empire (March ’12) checked in third. Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gary Barber’s Patrioticandproud scored his first stakes win Saturday, taking Woodbine’s $148,833 Toronto Cup Stakes by a length. It’s the first win in seven starts this year for the 3-year-old colt by Proud Citizen, now 11-2-5-1 with earnings of $207,936. Michael Dubb’s Ancient Rome broke his maiden at Delaware Park last year at two, and scored his second stakes win there Saturday with a half-length victory in the $50,250 Oh Say Stakes. Consigned by Bo Hunt, Agent, to the 2011 OBS April Sale, the 3-year-old colt by Roman Ruler is now 6-3-1-0 and has earned $124,000 to date. watch his under tack video

Rob Chabot, Tim Kane and Joshua Schayer’s Up Jumps a Monster is four for four and a stakes winner after his 1-1/4 length win in the $50,000 Ky Alta Handicap at Northlands Park. The 3-year-old gelding by Proud Citizen, sold for $25,000 by Scanlon Training Center, Agent, at the 2011 OBS March Sale, has earned $61,453. watch his under tack video

P and G Stables and Off the Hook Racing’s Turbo Compressor continued his rise through the ranks of North American turf horses, taking the lead at the start of Monmouth’s $505, 000 United Nations Stakes (G1) and never looking back, cruising to his first graded stakes win by a length and three quarters. Sold for $22,000 by breeder Bridlewood Farm at the 2010 OBS April Sale, the 4-year-old Florida-bred son of Halo’s Image, unraced at two, is now 14-7-1-2 and has earned $920,960.  watch his under tack video

B.J. Wright’s Jeranimo is the newest OBS millionaire after rallying on the outside and getting up in the final yards to win the $300, 000 Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1) at Betfair Hollywood Park by a length and a quarter. That’s five graded stakes wins for the 6-year-old Florida-bred son of Congaree, sold for $50, 000 by On Course Sales, Agent, at the 2007 OBS August Sale. The win gives him a 28-8-6-4 record and earnings of $1,068,400.

Featherston, Jacobsen & Miller’s Camp Victory sent trainer Mike Mitchell the perfect get well card, rolling past odds-on favorite The Factor in the stretch and winning the $250,000 Triple Bend Handicap (G1) at Befair Hollywood Park by 3-1/4 lengths. Mitchell, who claimed Camp Victory on behalf of his current connections for $40,000 last February, is recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor on Friday. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Forest Camp, giving him 23-8-3-2 record and earnings of $517,986. He was sold for $90,000 by M & H Training and Sales, Agent, at the 2009 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

Stronach Stables’ Hunters Bay made it two straight graded stakes wins on Sunday, winning Woodbine’s $204,961 Dominion Day Stakes (G3) by a length, with fellow 2009 Adena Springs Sale graduate Stately Victor checking in third. Kretz Racing LLC’s John Johny Jak rallied to win the $70,800 Robert K. Kerlan Memorial Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park by 1-3/4 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Comma to the Top (April ’10, October ’08) finishing third. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Wildcat Heir, consigned by Two Sharp Hats, Agent, to the 2008 OBS August Sale before they sold him for $37,000 at the 2009 April Sale. Robert Abbo Racing Stable LLC’s Immortal Eyes scored by a length and a half in the $70,000 Charles Town Dash Handicap on Saturday, taking the race for the third consecutive year. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Greatness, now 32-11-8-3 with earnings of $540,982. Sold first by Adena Springs South at the 2006 Winter Mixed Sale then resold by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2006 August Yearling Sale, he was ultimately sold for $220,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2007 February Sale. watch his under tack video

Luis Duco Stables Inc.’s Empire Builder led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Calder’s $50,000 American Dreamer on Saturday, drawing off to a 4-3/4 length victory over Ravelo’s Boy (August ’10), with Two Is to Many (June ’11) a neck back in third. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old Kitten’s Joy colt, giving him a 10-4-1-1 record and $116,495 in earnings.
