Long Weekend gana el Bachelor Stakes Oaklawn

B.C.W.T. Ltd.’s Long Weekend broke sharply to take the lead and set the pace in Oaklawn’s 100,000 Bachelor Stakes on Saturday, battled head to head with Echo Town down the length of the stretch and was best at the wire in a photo. Fellow OBS graduate Lykan (June ’19) rallied to finish third. That’s two straight stakes wins for the 3-year-old son of Majesticperfection, now 5-4-0-0 for trainer Tom Amoss with earnings of $193,928. Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds to the 2019 OBS April Sale, he turned in an Under Tack quarter in :20 3/5 before he was purchased for $225,000 by Lauren Carlisle, Agent. watch his under tack video

Although stakes opportunities are scarce, a pair of promising OBS graduates posted allowance victories on Sunday.

At Oaklawn, Hronis Racing LLC’s Edgeway came around horses to take command of a $61,000 six furlong allowance at the top of the stretch and rolled from there to victory by a length and a half, with fellow OBS graduate High On Gin (June ’19, October ’18) checking in third. Third in Oaklawn’s Purple Martin Stakes in her last start, the 3-year-old filly by Competitive Edge, trained by John Sadler, has been on the board in all three starts and earned $98,800 to date. She was purchased for $275,000 out of the Mayberry Farm consignment at the 2019 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Homewrecker Racing LLC’s Hop Kat is two for two after taking a six furlong, $39,000 allowance at Gulfstream Park. He sat just off the pace, came out for the drive, collared the leaders a sixteenth from home and scored by a length. An eighth length winner of his debut at Churchill last May, the 3-year-old colt by Stay Thirsty has earned $71,888 for trainer Eddie Kenneally. After speeding an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5, he was sold for $80,000 by Omega Farm, Agent, at the 2019 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video
