Willy Boi, King Cab one-two in Gulfstream’s Big Drama Stakes

Lea Farms LLC’s Willy Boi stalked fellow OBS graduate King Cab (June ’21) into the stretch of Gulfstream’s $65,000 Big Drama Stakes, took command after straightening away and beat him to the wire by 5-1/4 lengths. It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred son of Uncaptured, trained by Jorge Delgado, now 11-5-1-0 with $199,085 in earnings. June Sale Under Tack Show begins Monday, May 30

The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2022 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds & Horses of Racing Age begins Monday, May 30^th and runs through Saturday, June 4^th. All six sessions begin at 7:30 a.m.

Hip No.’s 1 – 187 will go to the track on Monday, May 30^th, Hip No.’s 188 – 374 work on Tuesday May 31^st, Hip No.’s 375 – 561 will breeze on Wednesday, June 1^st, Hip No.’s 562 – 748 go Thursday, June 2^nd, Hip No.’s 749 – 935 breeze Friday, June 3^rd. Hip No.’s 936 – 1060 plus supplements 1061 – 1111 (Two-Year-Olds) and Hip No.’s 1151 – 1166 plus supplement 1167 (HRA) will go on Saturday, June 4^th.

The Sale is set for Tuesday, June 7^th through Thursday, June 9^th with each session beginning at 10:00 a.m.

OBS will again offer Online Bidding during the June Sale. Buyers will be able to go to the OBS website and register to gain bidding approval, then access the OBS Bidding Screen with their credentials. Walking videos and conformation photos may be available in addition to under tack videos for each horse.

The Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and via the Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form, TDN and Past The Wire websites. The workouts will be recorded and can be viewed on the website, in their entirety or by individual hip number. They will also be available in the Video Room as well as several kiosks in the breezeway and covered walking ring. Visitors to Ocala will find the videos available for in-room viewing at The Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton. Under Tack Show results are posted on the OBS website.

The catalog can be viewed via the OBS website at http://obssales.com. The website’s searchable and sortable master index provides links to under tack videos, pedigree and consignor information as well as pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed. It has also been updated to allow shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using the new features can be found in the index header and a step by step tutorial is available in the index as well.

June Sale Supplemental Catalog now online

The Supplemental Catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2022 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com.

One Horse of Racing Age and 50 Two-Year-Olds have been supplemented to the three-day sale, and will sell as Hip No.’s 1061 – 1110 (2YO) and 1167 (HRA). All sessions begin at 10:00 a.m. Hip No.’s 1 – 374 will sell on Tuesday, June 7^th; Hip No.’s 375 – 748 will be offered on Wednesday, June 8^th and Hip No.’s 749 – 1167 will sell on Thursday, June 9^th.

There are six Under Tack Sessions. Millionaire OBS graduate Lighthouse sells for $1.7-million in Australia

LNJ Foxwoods’ OBS April Sale graduate Lighthouse was sold to Irish bloodstock agent Dermot Farrington for $1.7-million on Tuesday at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in Australia. The 5-year-old daughter of Mizzen Mast was a graded stakes placed stakes winner in the U.S. and a five-time stakes winner in Australia, topped by her recent victory in the ATC Coolmore Cup (G1) at Rose Hill Gardens. She ended her racing career with a 19-8-5-1 record and earned $1.4-million. The Critical Way, High Limit Room one-two in Monmouth’s Get Serious Stakes

Monster Racing Stables’ The Critical Way, on furlough since December, returned to work on Sunday and scored a frontrunning 2-1/2 length victory over fellow OBS graduate High Limit Room (March ’20) in the $106,000 Get Serious Stakes at Monmouth Park. It’s the sixth stakes win for the 8-year-old graded stakes winning son of Tizway, purchased for $75,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2016 OBS June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Lightening Larry leads OBS sweep of Pimlico’s Chick Lang Stakes

OBS graduates scored four stakes wins on Saturday at Pimlico on the Preakness Day undercard.

Lea Farms, LLC’s Lightening Larry led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $200,000 Chick Lang Stakes (G3), pressing pacesetting fellow OBS graduate Cogburn (April ’21) from the start, taking command a furlong from home and beating him by three quarters of a length. Chasing Time (April ’21) rallied to finish third. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Uncaptured, sold for $50,000 by Pick View LLC, Agent, at the 2021 March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. West Point Thoroughbreds and Marvin Delfiner’s Jaxon Traveler set a pressured pace in the $150,000 Maryland Sprint Stakes (G3), turned back a second challenge turning for home and eased away late to score by a length and three quarters. That’s four stakes wins for the 4-year-old son of Munnings, purchased for $140,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales consignment at the 2020 OBS Spring Sale by L.E.B., Agent for West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Team Hanley and Parkland Thoroughbreds’ Joy’s Rocket bounced right to the lead in the $100,000 Skipat Stakes and was never threatened, drawing away in the stretch to a 4-1/4 length victory. It’s the fourth stakes win for the graded stakes placed 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Anthony’s Cross, also trained by Steve Asmussen, now 15-5-5-1 with $449,474 in earnings. OBS June graduate Bella Sofia wins Belmont’s Vagrancy Handicap

OBS graduates posted a pair of graded stakes wins at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Michael Imperio, Medallion Racing, Sofia Soares, Vincent S. Scuderi and Parkland Thoroughbreds’ Bella Sofia pressed the pace in the $145,500 Vagrancy Handicap (G3), took the lead on the turn, battled Frank’s Rockette head-to-head down the stretch and was best by a nose at the wire. It was the 4-year-old debut for the grade one stakes winning daughter of Awesome Patriot, purchased for $20,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales consignment by Sallusto & Albina, Agent, at the 2020 OBS June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Dublin Fjord Stables LLC, Racepoint Stables, Kevin D. Hilbert and Thomas E. O’Keefe’s Drafted trailed turning for home in the $150,000 Runhappy Stakes (G3), but closed relentlessly down the stretch on the outside, took the lead in the shadow of the wire and scored by a length. Uranga’s Sigur Ros came from off the pace to take command of the $76,950 Sunray Park Stakes on Saturday at Sunray Park a furlong from home and held off a late charge to score by three quarters of a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 8-year-old gelding by Gemologist, sold for $20,000 by Select Sales, Agent, at the 2015 OBS August Selected Yearling Sale. Trained by his owner, he’s now 28-8-4-4 and has earned $207,907 to date.
