Revolutionary, Unlimited Budget set for Belmont Stakes

OBS March graduates Revolutionary and Unlimited Budget, both trained by Todd Pletcher, will take on Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Orb and Preakness (G1) winner Oxbow in Saturday’s $1,000,000 Belmont Stakes (G1).

WinStar Farm LLC’s Revolutionary comes into the Belmont off a third place finish in the Derby. Second choice in the morning line at 9-2, he’ll break from post nine in the field of fourteen. He’ll be reunited with rider Javier Castellano, aboard when the colt by War Pass beat Mylute, third in the Preakness, to win the Louisiana Derby (G2) on March 30^th. Revolutionary’s other graded win came in Aqueduct’s Withers Stakes (G3), in which he overcame a nightmare trip to rally and win by a neck in the final strides. Sold for $235,000 at the 2012 OBS March Sale by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, he brings a 7-3-1-3 record into the Belmont and has earned $988,500 to date. watch his under tack video

Pletcher will hoist rider Rosie Napravnik aboard Repole Stables’ Unlimited Budget, as the daughter of Street Sense tries to become the fourth filly to win the Belmont and the first since Rags to Riches in 2007. Listed at 8-1 on the morning line, she’ll break from post thirteen. Unbeaten prior to her third place finish in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), she has three graded stakes wins to her credit. She won Aqueduct’s Demoiselle Stakes (G2) at two and this year has captured the Rachel Alexandra (G3) and Fair Grounds Oaks (G2). Delightful Mary returns to win Woodbine’s Hendrie Stakes

John C. Oxley’s Delightful Mary, idle since last March, came from well off the pace with a big late charge and won Woodbine’s $150, 000 Hendrie Stakes (G3) by a length. It’s the third stakes victory for the 2011 OBS Championship Stakes winner, now 11-6-2-1 with earnings of $588,055. The 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Limehouse was sold by Craig Wheeler, Agent, for a sale topping $500,000 at the 2010 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence’s Readtheprospectus ran off his sixth straight win on Saturday, taking command of Belmont’s $150,000 Commentator Stakes a furlong from home and beating fellow OBS graduate So Scott (February ’09) by a length and a quarter. It’s the first stakes score for the 4-year-old gelding by Read the Footnotes, sold for $30,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent For Blue Sky Farm LLC, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. Dare To Dream Stable LLC (Michael Faber), Little Bear Racing Stables and Mason’s Flower Spell went to the lead at the start of Saturday’s $66,600 Meafara Stakes at Arlington and never looked back en route to a six length victory. It’s the second straight win and first stakes score for the 3-year-old Flower Alley filly, sold for $25,000 by Bobby Dodd, Agent, at the 2012 OBS June Sale. Terrell Jarrett Jr.’s Lattin Devil scored his second straight stakes win with a 3-1/2 length victory in the $50,000 Ragin Cajun Stakes at Evangeline Downs. The 3-year-old gelding by Latent Heat, sold for $10,000 by Paul Sharp, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale, is now 7-4-1-1 and has earned $134,940 to date. watch his under tack video

Ronald Ulrich’s King Henry overcame a slow start, circled his field and drew off to win Penn National’s $50,000 Penn Dash Stakes by a length and three quarters. His third straight win, and first stakes score, leaves him with a 29-8-5-6 record and $209,614 in earnings. The 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Congrats was sold for $17,000 by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2009 OBS August Sale.

Southern Equine Stable LLC and Whispering Oaks Farm LLC’s D’cajun Cat, sold for $300,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2013 OBS March Sale after an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show, romped to a 5-1/4 length victory in his debut at Churchill Downs. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the 2-year-old colt by D’wildcat earned $21,720 for his effort. watch his under tack video

One Three-Year-Old and 32 Two-Year-Olds have been supplemented and will sell after the older horse section as Hip No’s 715 – 747 on the sale’s second day, Wednesday, June 19^th. Catalog pages will only be available at the sales grounds and on the OBS website. All supplemented horses will breeze at the third Under Tack session on Sunday, June 16^th.

There are 719 two-year-olds and 26 older horses in the two-day sale, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18^th and 19^th. Hip No’s 1 – 370 sell on Tuesday; Hip No’s 371 – 747 on Wednesday. Both sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The Under Tack Show will again be split into three sessions: Friday, June 14^th through Sunday, June 16^th, beginning each morning at 7:30 a.m. Hip No.’s 1 – 250 will breeze on Friday; Hip No.’s 251 – 500 on Saturday and Hip No’s 501 -747 on Sunday.

As always, the sale and Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com, and also via the Blood-Horse and DRF websites. Master Rick scores in Lone Star Park Handicap

Richard L. Davis’s Master Rick made it two straight graded stakes victories at Lone Star, circling four wide and winning the $300, 000 Lone Star Park Handicap by a length on Memorial Day. That’s three straight wins and four stakes wins in all for the 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Master Command. The two time OBS graduate was sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2010 August Sale before being purchased for $47,000 out of the D S B Stable consignment at the 2011 April Sale. Comma to the Top captures Hollywood’s Los Angeles Handicap

Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum & Kevin Tsujihara’s Comma to the Top, who shipped east and won Aqueduct’s Tom Fool Handicap (G3) in March, was back home in California on Memorial Day and observed the holiday with a wire to wire score in the $100,250 Los Angeles Handicap (G3). Fellow OBS graduate Camp Victory (March ’09) checked in third. The 5-year-old gelding by Bwana Charlie is a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Beth Bayer, Agent, as a weanling at the 2010 OBS Fall Mixed Sale before bringing $22,000 when purchased out of the Indian Prairie Ranch consignment at the 2010 April Sale. General Election takes Arlington Classic

WinStar Farm LLC’s General Election rallied from well off the pace and got up to win Saturday’s $150, 000 Arlington Classic Stakes (G3) by a length. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Harlan’s Holiday, sold by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, for $150,000 at the 2012 OBS March Sale. Maggi Moss’ Lulu Wong, second and third in her only previous stakes tries, took charge of the $58,800 Prairie Rose Stakes at Prairie Meadows at the start and never looked back, scoring her first stakes victory by 3-3/4 lengths. It’s the first win in five starts this year for the 4-year-old daughter of Badge of Silver, now 15-4-4-2 with earnings of $167,259. Zayat Stables, LLC’s Zee Bros picked up his first stakes win with a front-running 2-1/4 length victory in the $100, 000 Chick Lang Stakes on the Preakness undercard. Unraced at two, the 3-year-old colt by Brother Derek is 4-2-1-0 and has earned $106,814 to date. Three Lyons Racing’s Sensible Lady came from next to last in a field of 14 to get up in the final yards and score by a neck, winning the $100,000 The Very One Stakes at Pimlico for the second straight year. It’s the fifth stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Street Sense, sold for $9,500 by Kings Equine, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. Alpha Bettor takes Woodbine’s Eclipse Stakes

Bulldog Racing’s Alpha Bettor stayed on the rail, took the lead turning for home and held on gamely to win Woodbine’s $200, 000 Eclipse Stakes (G2) by a neck. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 6-year-old son of Alphabet Soup, sold for $27,000 at the 2010 Adena Springs Sale. James and Alice Sapara’s Leinan couldn’t catch fellow OBS graduate Cor Cor (June ’12, March ’12) in the OBS Sprint Stakes this past March, but stalked her in Sunday’s $99,250 Inaugural Stakes at Presque Isle Downs, ran by her in the lane and cruised to a 5-1/4 length victory. Cor Cor settled for third. It’s the second stakes score for the 3-year-old filly by Ready’s Image, now with a 8-3-3-1 with $239,996. She was consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. OBS June Catalog is on the internet

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com. The website features a sortable master index for the catalog, daily pedigree updates and past performances as well as under tack show videos and results. After a record breaking OBS Spring Sale, this is the final opportunity of the year to buy an OBS juvenile.

There are 687 two-year-olds and 25 older horses cataloged thus far for the two-day sale, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18^th and 19^th. Both sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m. Supplemental nominations are being accepted until May 23^rd.

The Under Tack Show will again be split into three sessions: Friday, June 14^th through Sunday, June 16^th, beginning each morning at 7:30 a.m. The daily breakdown will be announced after the closing of Supplemental nominations.

As always, the sale and Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com, and also via the Blood-Horse and DRF websites. Recent June Sale graduates have again enjoyed success at racing’s highest levels. W.C. Racing, Dave Kenney and RAP Racing’s millionaire Goldencents, purchased by Dennis O’Neill after being supplemented to last year’s June Sale, has accounted for three graded stakes victories including the Santa Anita Derby (G1). He’s being pointed to challenge Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Orb in next Saturday’s Preakness (G1) at Pimlico. Tanma Corporation’s Southwest Stakes (G3) winner Super Ninety Nine was a factor on the Derby Trail before he was forced to the sidelines by injury. Gary Barber and Stoneway Farm’s Spring Venture also came out of last year’s sale to win two graded stakes at Woodbine before winning this year’s filly division of the OBS Championship Stakes. In all, forty OBS June graduates have won or placed in sixty-nine stakes since the beginning of 2012.

Stephanie’s Kitten takes the Churchill Downs Turf Mile Stakes

John Oxley’s Spring in the Air posted her second stakes win at Woodbine on Saturday, coming from just off the pace to take the $148,830 Fury Stakes by half a length. Four OBS grads in Kentucky Derby

Four OBS graduates will run for the roses on Saturday, with Goldencents, Revolutionary, Itsmyluckyday and Falling Sky trying to become the fourth Kentucky Derby (G1) winner sold by the sales company. Lil E. Tee (April ’91) was the first in 1992, followed by Silver Charm in 1997 (April ’96, August ’95) and I’ll Have Another (April 2011) last year.

W.C. Racing, Dave Kenney and RAP Racing’s Goldencents would be getting a lot of attention prior to the Derby even if the RAP didn’t stand for Rick Pitino, coach of the 2013 NCAA basketball champion Louisville Cardinals. But extra attention will be focused on the son of Into Mischief, as he’s trained by Doug O’Neill, back at Churchill Downs after winning last year’s Derby with OBS April graduate I’ll Have Another. A star ever since an eye-popping maiden win at first asking at Del Mar, he comes into the race with three graded stakes wins to his credit, including his recent victory in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). Like I’ll Have Another, he was purchased by Dennis O’Neill; the trainer’s brother plucking him out of the Southern Chase Farm (Greg and Karen Dodd) consignment at the 2012 OBS June Sale for $62,000. Newtown Anner Stud, James Covello and Joseph Bulger’s Falling Sky, who topped the Horses of Racing Age section of the 2013 OBS Winter Mixed Sale, brings a 6-3-0-1 record and earnings of $249,800 to the Derby. After the Lion Heart colt, consigned by Off the Hook, went to Justin Casse, Agent, for $425,000 in January, he produced a quick return on investment with a victory in Tampa’s Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3). Second to unbeaten Verrazano in the Tampa Bay Derby (G2), he comes into the race off a fourth place finish in the Arkansas Derby (G1). watch his under tack video
