Uncle Mo Filly Records Fastest Quarter to Lead Day 2 of OBS June Under-Tack Show

In her first under-tack showcase over the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. track in April, the filly Global Leader made an admirable case for her ability when she tied for the fastest quarter on the day.

In her return to the oval for the OBS June Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age Sale, the daughter of Uncle Mo did herself one better as she readies for another turn inside the public auction arena.

Consigned by Tom McCrocklin as Hip 220, Global Leader put forth another strong showing during Day 2 of the OBS June under-tack show, breezing a quarter in :20 2/5 to record the fastest time on the day at the distance.

Out of the winning, stakes-placed First Samurai mare Corey, a half sister to graded stakes winner and OBS graduate Happy Farm, Global Leader was entered in the OBS April Sale where she worked in :20 3/5. After failing to meet her reserve when the bidding stalled at $285,000, the bay filly is back in McCrocklin’s consignment where she continues to impress.

“She worked 20 and 3 (in April) and for whatever reason that I’ve had yet to figure out we didn’t get her sold,” McCrocklin said. “We had enough confidence in her that we wanted to bring her back to June and let her show that she’s a really fast filly.”

Development and maturity can happen overnight with two-year-olds, and McCrocklin says he has seen clear signs the filly has benefited from the added time.

“She has grown. She’s never been the biggest filly, but she has grown,” he said. “She’s beautifully balanced, she looks like a runner. She looks like an Uncle Mo and I feel like she’ll be appreciated.”

The second fastest quarter-mile on the day went to Hip 273, a dark bay or brown filly by Jack Christopher who breezed in :20 3/5 amidst the clear, warm conditions. Consigned by Doble J Equine Sales, the filly is out of the Pioneerof the Nile mare Dreaming of You, a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner and multiple graded stakes producer Justwhistledixie.
