Solitude Dude Remains Unbeaten to Lead Stakes-Winning OBS Grads

Chris Fountoukis’ Solitude Dude (Yaupon-After the Party, by Into Mischief) remained unbeaten in his young career with a dominating victory in the $175,000 Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park Jan. 31 to lead the stakes-winning OBS graduates for the week.

Sent to post as the 1-5 favorite in a field of six after winning the first two races of his career by a combined 17 ½ lengths, Solitude Dude drew off to score by 3 ¾ lengths. He debuted at Gulfstream Nov. 1 with a 9 ½-length victory going 6 ½ furlongs and came back to win the six-furlong Inaugural by eight lengths Dec. 6 at Tampa Bay Downs.

Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., Solitude Dude was purchased by Fountoukis through Joseph for $300,000 at the 2025 OBS June Sale from the consignment of Julie Davies after breezing in :9 4/5.

The Jan. 31 card at Gulfstream Park also saw Silverton Hill’s Thousandsticks (Twirling Candy-Lottie, by Arch) emerge with a hard-fought neck victory in the $175,000 Kitten’s Joy, a race named for the late champion OBS grad.

Trained by Brian Lynch, Thousandsticks extended his win streak to three races, improving to 3-0 on the Gulfstream turf. The son of Twirling Candy was purchased by Taproot Bloodstock, agent for $90,000 at the 2025 OBS June Sale from the Britton Peak consignment after breezing in :10 1/5.
