Federal Judge, May Day Ready capture graded stakes at Keeneland

A pair of OBS graduates punched their tickets to the Breeders’ Cup with graded stakes wins on Friday at Keeneland.

Siena Farm LLC and WinStar Farm LLC’s Federal Judge (Army Mule – Congarette) is on his way to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) after a frontrunning 5-1/2 length victory in the $350,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2). It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred son of Army Mule, sold for $40,000 by Stuart Morris, Agent, at the 2021 OBS Winter Mixed Sale. Now 6-4-1-0 for trainer Brad Cox, he has earned $402,960 to date.

KatieRich Stables LLC’s May Day Ready (Tapit – Nemoralia) is three for three, a graded stakes winner and on her way to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) after winning the $350,000 Jessamine Stakes (G2) by a nose. with fellow OBS graduate Destino’Oro (Bolt d’Oro – Heart of Destiny) another nose back in third.  Bothered after the start, the 2-year-old daughter of Tapit came wide into the stretch, kept after the leaders and was up to be best in a three-horse photo. Trained by Joseph R. Lee, she’s a two-time stakes winner and has earned $844,025. After breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat at the 2024 OBS Spring Sale, she was purchased for $325,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment.    breeze/walk video
