City Man, Skippylongstocking score in Gulfstream graded stakes

OBS Spring Sale graduates scored in a pair of New Year’s Eve graded stakes, capturing both of Gulfstream’s prep races for the upcoming Pegasus World Cup (G1) and Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1).

Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Peter Searles and Patty Searles’ City Man found room on the rail after turning for home in the $200,000 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes (G2) on the turf, took command a furlong from home and drew away to win by a length and a half. It’s the third straight stakes victory for the now 6-year-old multiple graded stakes winning son of Mucho Macho Man, trained by Christophe Clement, now 26-9-5-3 with $987,120 in earnings. He was sold to Reeves Thoroughbreds for $185,000 by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, at the 2019 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Daniel Alonso’s West Virginia Derby (G3) winner Skippylongstocking ended his 3-year-old campaign with a flourish, sweeping to the lead at the head of the stretch of the $200,000 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes (G3) and pulling away to score by two lengths. It’s the second stakes win for the colt by Exaggerator, purchased for $37,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. ERJ Racing, LLC, Pappas Horse Racing, Corp and Neil A. Haymes’ Broadway Girls jumped from a maiden victory at Del Mar in November into Friday’s $103,000 Blue Norther Stakes at Santa Anita, took the lead at the start and never looked back, scoring by a length and a half. Trained by Doug O’Neill, the daughter of Army Mule ended her juvenile campaign with a 4-2-0-0 record and $108,020 in earnings. At the 2022 OBS June Sale, she was purchased out of the Top Line Sales consignment by Dennis O’Neill for $60,000 after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch her under tack video

Dublin Fjord Stables LLC, Racepoint Stables, Kevin D. Hilbert and Thomas E. O’Keefe’s millionaire Drafted was last early in Aqueduct’s $130,950 Gravesend Stakes on Friday, but rallied down the stretch on the outside and was up in the last jump to win by a nose. It’s the eighth stakes victory for the now 9-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Field Commission, trained by David P. Duggan, now 33,10-3-4 with earnings of $1,157,443. The two-time OBS graduate went through the ring at the 2015 August Yearling Sale before he was purchased for $35,000 out of the Kim Harrison consignment at the 2016 March Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video
