OBS Spring Sale graduates posted a pair of stakes wins on Friday at Saratoga.
Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Peter Searles and Patty Searles’ City Man relaxed off the pace in the early going of the $175,000 Forbidden Apple Stakes (G3), circled horses on the turn, rallied down the stretch to take charge a sixteenth out and eased away late to score by 2-3/4 lengths. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Mucho Macho Man, trained by Christophe Clement, now 22-6-4-3 with earnings of $653,050. Consigned to the 2019 OBS Spring Sale by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, he was sold to Reeves Thoroughbreds for $185,000 after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video
Augustin Stable’s Empress Tigress is two for two and a stakes winner after opening daylight in the stretch of the $150,000 Coronation Cup and holding off a late rally to score by half a length. The 3-year-old daughter of Classic Empire was purchased by Donato Lanni, Agent, for $410,000 out of the Golden Rock Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :20 2/5.
