OBS grads posted a pair of stakes wins at Gulfstream Park and one at Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Golden Kernel Racing Stable’s Yes I Am Free tracked the pace in the $100,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes (G3), took the lead after straightening away in the stretch and drew off to win by 3-1/2 lengths. It’s the second stakes victory for the 6-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Uncaptured, purchased for $135,000 out of the Hawk’s Nest LLC consignment at the 2018 OBS June Sale after speeding an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. David Melin, Leon Ellman & Laurie Plesa’s Miss Auramet led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $100,000 Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes, taking the lead at the start and keeping it to the wire, holding off Nikee Kan (June ’17) by a length and three quarters, with Reinagol (March ’20) checking in third. That’s three stakes wins for the 6-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Uncaptured, trained by Eddie Plesa, Jr., now 28-11-8-3 with $548,750 in earnings. The two time OBS graduate was sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2017 October Yearling Sale and then purchased for $135,000 out of the Julie Davies consignment at the 2018 April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. watch her under tack video
Shea D. Boy’s Stable’s Bank On Shea moved up on the inside to reach the leaders a quarter mile out in Saturday’s $75,000 Pelican Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, battled favored Baby Yoda to the wire and was best by a neck, with fellow OBS graduate Pudding (August ’16, January ’16) settling for third. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Central Banker, purchased for $110,000 out of the Niall Brennan Stables consignment at the 2019 April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Trained by Carlos David, the win leaves him with an 8-5-1-1 career record and $497,750 in earnings. watch his under tack video
