OBS June graduates posted a pair of graded stakes wins at Saratoga on Saturday.
Michael Imperio, Vincent S. Scuderi, Sofia Soares, Gabrielle Farm, Mazel Stable Partners, LLC and Matthew J. Mercurio’s Bella Sofia stalked the leader from the start of the $500,000 Test Stakes (G1), took command after turning for home and galloped away down the stretch to score by 4-1/4 lengths. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old filly by Awesome Patriot, trained by Rudy Rodriguez, a winner of three of four starts and $405,100. At the 2020 OBS June Sale, she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 and was purchased for $20,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales consignment by Sallusto & Albina, Agent. watch her under tack video
George Krikorian’s War Like Goddess trailed in the early going of the $250,000 Glens Falls Stakes (G2), but swung out for the drive, reached the lead a furlong from home and drew off to win by 3-1/4 lengths. That’s three straight graded stakes wins for the 4-year-old daughter of English Channel, consigned to the 2019 OBS June Sale by Hemingway Racing and Training Stables, and sold for $30,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5.
