Winning Stables Inc.’s Foreman led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $100,000 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Sophomore Stakes, tracking frontrunning Willy Boi (October ’20) from the start and wearing him down in the final yards and scoring by half a length. Shoo Shine (October ’20) checked in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred son of Chitu, a two-time OBS graduate, sold by T-Square Stud LLC, Agent, at the 2019 October Yearling Sale and then purchased for $20,000 out of the Goldencents Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2020 June Sale after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5. Averill Racing LLC and ATM Racing’s unbeaten R Adios Jersey stepped into stakes company for the first time in the $110,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies Stakes, went right to the front, and never looked back en route to a 2-1/4 length victory. Four for four for trainer Georgina Baxter, the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Adios Charlie has earned $137,000 to date. Consigned by breeder Ocala Stud to the 2020 OBS March Sale, she was sold to Averill Racing for $12,000 after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :22 3/5. watch her under tack video
Jerry Campbell’s Indy Lyon took the lead at the start of the $110,000 Equistaff Sophomore Turf Stakes, turned back a challenge from fellow OBS graduate Chess’s Dream a furlong out then held off another late charge to score by a nose. Chess’s Dream (January ’19) settled for third. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred son of Congrats, trained by Maria Bowersock, now 9-4-0-0 with earnings of $99,691. A two-time OBS graduate, Indy Lyon was sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2019 Winter Mixed Sale and then resold by Michelle Redding, Agent, for $32,000 at the 2019 October Selected Yearling Sale. David Staudacher’s Me and Mr. C picked up his first stakes victory in the $110,000 Grey Goose Turf Classic Stakes, rallying on the outside into the stretch and closing strongly to be best by half a length at the wire. The 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Khozan was consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, to the 2019 OBS March Sale and went through the ring after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.
