The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2021 March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training begins Thursday, March 11th.
There are three sessions, with Hips 1 – 188 breezing on the first day. Hips 189 – 376 will go Friday, March 12th and Hips 377 – 563 will go Saturday, March 13th. All three sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF, TDN, Blood-Horse and Past The Wire websites.
A total of 561 juveniles are cataloged for the two-day sale, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16th and 17th, with both sessions beginning at 11:00 a.m. Hips 1 – 282 will sell on Tuesday; Hips 283 – 563 will sell on Wednesday.
In the past year, the sale’s graduates have continued to produce the kind of results horsemen expect when they come to buy horses in Ocala in March. Since the beginning of 2020, March graduates were on the board 220 times in stakes races, accounting for 70 stakes victories. At the game’s highest level, 53 March grads won or placed 80 times in graded stakes. .
Long a source for top level racehorses, the OBS March Sale is also a launch pad for success in the breeding shed. Catalog cover boy Into Mischief was North America’s leading sire in 2019 and 2020. Purchased for $180,000 by B. Wayne Hughes out of the M&H Training and Sales consignment at the 2007 OBS March Sale, the son of Harlan’s Holiday was a grade one winner at the races and has sired more than 90 stakes winners including leading classics contender Life Is Good, Horse of the Year Authentic, champions Covfefe, Conquest Enforcer, Gamine and two-time Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winning OBS graduate Goldencents. watch his under tack video

Instilled Regard was consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, to the 2017 OBS March Sale, and purchased by OXO Equine for $1,050,000 after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5. A four-time graded stakes winner, the son of Arch ended his career with a victory in the Manhattan Stakes (G1) on July 4th and has embarked on a career at stud at Taylor Made Stallions. watch his under tack video
The back cover also pictures Koichi Nishikawa’s Cafe Pharoah, the latest international star to emerge from OBS March. The 4-year-old colt by American Pharoah’s five wins include three graded stakes victories, the latest in the $1,847,689 February Stakes (G1) on February 21st at Tokyo RaceCourse. Consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2019 OBS March Sale and sold for $475,000 to Emmanuel de Seroux’s Narvick International, Agent, after working an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5, he has earned $1,896,258 to date. watch his under tack video watch a video of the February Stakes
Narvick International, Agent, also purchased another March graduate in HRH Prince Sultan Bin Mishal Al Saud’s Merneith, who scored her first graded stakes win in Santa Anita’s $202,000 Santa Monica Stakes (G2) on February 13th. The 4-year-old daughter of American Pharoah, purchased for $600,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment on behalf of her owner at the 2019 OBS March Sale after an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5, is now 10-4-3-2 for trainer Bob Baffert with $357,900 in earnings. watch her under tack video
