The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2020 March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com.
A total of 681 juveniles have been cataloged for the two-day sale, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 17th and 18th, with both sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Under Tack Show will span three days, beginning Thursday, March 12th with Hips 1 – 227. Hips 228 – 454 will breeze Friday, March 13th and Hips 455 – 681 will go Saturday, March 14th. All three sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the TDN, DRF and Blood-Horse websites.
OBS March graduates spent the past year winning major races from coast to coast, highlighted by Jeff Drown and Don Rachel’s unbeaten Structor, featured on the catalog’s front cover. Second in the voting for the Eclipse Award to fellow OBS graduate Storm the Court (April ’19), the now 3-year-old colt by Palace Malice, trained by Chad Brown, won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) after taking Belmont’s Pilgrim Stakes (G3) in his previous start. HRH Prince Faisal Bin Khaled, Mucho Gusto is one of the quartet of graded stakes winners featured on the catalog’s back cover. In his first start for his new connections, he served notice he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Older Male division with an 4-1/2 length victory in the recent $3-million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1) at Gulfstream Park, with fellow OBS March graduate War Story finishing third. It was the fifth graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Mucho Macho Man, trained by Bob Baffert, now 11-6-2-2 and the newest OBS millionaire with $2,441,800 in earnings. OXO Equine’s Instilled Regard won Gulfstream’s Ft. Lauderdale Stakes (G2) in December and was third in last week’s Pegasus World Cup Invitational Turf (G1). The Ft. Lauderdale was the second graded stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Arch, who turned in an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before he was purchased for $1,050,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale. Crawford Farms Racing’s Shancelot was a 12-1/2 length winner of Saratoga’s Amsterdam Stakes (G2) in August and finished the year with a second to champion OBS graduate Mitole (April ’17) in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). At the 2018 OBS March Sale, he turned in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 before he was purchased by Juan Pacanins, Agent, for $245,000 out of the Kings Equine consignment. First Row Partners and Hidden Brook Farm’s Nay Lady Nay (IRE) finished the year in style, overcoming a rough start to take Churchill’s Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) in November. It was the second straight stakes win for the now 4-year-old filly by No Nay Never, trained by Chad Brown, leaving her with a 5-3-1-0 record and $265,180 in earnings. The online catalog’s main page contains a link to a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed. Advanced search and filter capability has been added to allow shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using the new features can be found in the index header and a step by step tutorial is available in the index as well.
