N. T. S. Stable, Inc’s Stirling Drive relaxed in the early going of the $75,000 Showing Up Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park West, surged to the front on the turn, opened up daylight turning for home and held on in the drive to win by a head. It’s the third stakes victory for 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Verrazano, trained by Milton Wolfson, now 16-4-0-2 with earnings of $247,490. He breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before he was purchased for $75,000 out of the Off the Hook consignment at the 2018 April Sale. watch his under tack video
Alejandro Mercado’s Mugaritz is four for four this year after pressing the pace in Saturday’s $55,600 Joseph T. Grace Stakes at Golden Gate, taking command on the second turn and hanging on gamely to score by a neck. That’s five straight wins, the last pair in stakes, for the 4-year-old son of Dialed In, consigned by RiceHorse Stables, Agent, to the 2017 OBS April Sale, where he went through the ring after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Now 12-7-1-0 for trainer Jonathan Wong, he has earned $167,125 to date. watch his under tack video
