Midnight Bisou best in Belmont’s Beldame Stakes

Bloom Racing Stable LLC, Madaket Stables LLC and Allen Racing LLC’s Midnight Bisou pressed the pace from the inside early in the $300,000 Beldame Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park on Saturday, took the lead in the turn, turned back a stretch run by Wow Cat (CHI) a sixteenth from home and drew away to win by 3-1/4 lengths. The 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before she was purchased by Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 April Sale, is seven for seven this year, all in graded stakes races. Trained by Steve Asmussen, she’s now 18-12-3-3 and has earned $3,410,000 to date.  watch her under tack video

Mongolian Stable’s Mongolian Groom was ignored at 25-1 in the $300,351 Awesome Again Stakes (G1) on Saturday at Santa Anita, but took the lead at the start, shook loose turning for home, turned back a run by odds-on favorite McKinzie and drew off late to a 2-1/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old son of OBS graduate Hightail, trained by Enebish Ganbat, now 16-3-2-3 with $579,141 in earnings. After working an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5, he was purchased by Mongolian Stables for $12,000 out of the Coastal Equine consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

Jeff Drown and Don Rachel’s Structor chased the leaders from the outside in Saturday’s $200,000 Pilgrim Stakes (G3) at Belmont, rallied on the turn, took over three sixteenths out and held off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Andesite (March ’19) to score by a head. The 2-year-old colt by Palace Malice, consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5 before he was sold for $850,000 at the 2019 OBS March Sale. Gary Barber’s Two Sixty was much the best in the $400,000 FTBOA Florida Sire My Dear Girl Stakes, going right to the front and staying there all the way, romping to a 6-1/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Ceci Valentina (October ’18) checked in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Uncaptured, a two time OBS graduate. She was sold first by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2018 October Sale before she was purchased for $260,000 out of the SGV Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2019 March Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Now 4-2-0-1 for trainer Mark Casse, she has earned $294,000 to date. watch her under tack video

The $400,000 FTBOA Florida Sire In Reality Stakes went to Chance It, a 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Currency Swap out of Vagabon Diva. He’s a half brother to Hip No. 199, a colt by Prospective, consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, to the upcoming OBS October Selected Yearling Sale. watch his walking video

Nice Guys Stables’ Extrordinary Jerry relaxed well off the pace in the early going of the $150,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Wildcat Heir Stakes, but rallied on the turn, took charge at the head of the stretch and cruised from there to a 10-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Wildwood’s Beauty (October ‘18). It’s the first stakes score for the 4-year-old Florida-bred son of Overdriven, trained by Todd Pletcher, now 17-4-3-2 with earnings of $260,106. A two time OBS graduate, he was sold by Darsan at the 2016 Winter Mixed Sale and then sold for $70,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2017 April Sale after breezing an Under Tack quarter in : 21 2/5. watch his under tack video

Ken & Sarah Ramsey’s Graceful Kitten is three for three with two stakes victories after leading from start to finish and scoring by two lengths in the $75,000 Armed Forces Stakes. The 2-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy, trained by Amador Sanchez, broke his maiden at first asking in June, and took the Proud Man Stakes in his second start in August. He has earned $126,610 to date. He breezed an Under Tack quarter in :22 3/5 before he was purchased for $8,500 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2019 OBS April Sale.  watch his under tack video

OBS graduates scored a pair of stakes wins on Saturday at Laurel.

Maxis Stable, Madaket Stables LLC and Wonder Stables’ Miss J McKay was away slowly in the $100,000 Anne Arundel County Stakes, but moved up between horses on the turn, blew past the leaders to take charge after straightening away in the stretch and romped home a five length winner. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old filly by Hangover Kid, consigned by Costanzo Sales, Agent, to the 2019 OBS April Sale, where she went through the ring after breezing an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Cathal Lynch, she’s now 3-2-0-1 and has earned $91,953. watch her under tack video

Lady Sheila Stable and Iris Smith Stable’s Tiz He the One sat just off the early pace in the $75,000 Challedon Stakes, went after the leaders in the stretch, passed them with a rush a furlong out and won by 3-1/2 lengths. It’s the first stakes win for the lightly raced 5-year-old gelding by Tiz Wonderful, trained by Linda Rice, now 11-5-0-1 with earnings of $158,825. He was purchased for $180,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2016 OBS April Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video

Lucky Man Racing LLC’s Justaholic took charge early in Saturday’s $112,000 Rainbow Heir Stakes at Monmouth and was never headed, opening up daylight on the turn and galloping from there to a 4-3/4 length victory. That’s two stakes wins for the 4-year-old son of Justin Phillip, purchased for $40,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.
