Wildwood’s Beauty wins Gulfstream’s Sheer Drama Stakes

William Stiritz’s Wildwood’s Beauty rated just off the early lead in Saturday’s $100,000 Sheer Drama Stakes at Gulfstream Park, surged to the lead after turning for home and ran off to a convincing 3-3/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Ms Meshak (August ’16) checked in third. It’s the third stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Kantharos, consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, to the 2017 October Yearling Sale, where she was purchased by Mr. Stiritz for $47,000. Now 8-4-3-0 for trainer Scott Becker, she has earned $254,360.

 

OBS graduates posted three stakes wins at Colonial Downs on Saturday.

Ed Orr and Susie Orr’s Boldor came from well off the pace to reach the lead a furlong from home in the $100,000 Punch Line Stakes and drew away from there to a three length victory over fellow OBS graduate Elusive Mischief (April ’17, August ’16). It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Munnings, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 5-2-1-1 with $122,367 in earnings. He turned in an Under Tack in :10 flat before he was purchased for $700,000 out of the Randy Miles consignment at the 2018 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

Holly and David Wilson’s Holly Hundy pressed the pace in the $100,000 Camptown Stakes, took charge a furlong out and galloped to a 3-3/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Yes It’s True, consigned to the 2018 OBS April Sale by de Meric Sales, Agent, and sold for $180,000 after working a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Vladmir Cerin, she’s now 9-3-0-0 and has earned $145,022. watch her under tack video

Dare To Dream Stable LLC’s Embolden is two for three and a stakes winner after his 3-3/4 length wire to wire score in the $100,000 Jamestown Stakes. The 2-year-old colt by The Factor was sold for $95,000 by Gene Recio, Agent, at the 2019 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Michael Stidham, he has earned $99,000 to date. watch his under tack video

Julian De Mora, Jr. and JN Racing Stables’ First Deal stalked the early lead in Monmouth’s $71,500 Decathlon Stakes on Sunday, took over turning for home and eased away late to a 2-1/4 length victory. That’s two straight wins for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Turbo Compressor, consigned by 30-30 Ranch, Agent, to the 2018 OBS June Sale, and sold for $17,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Jorge Navarro, he’s now 9-6-2-1 and has earned $173,905 to date. watch his under tack video

Super Super Stable’s Driven by Thunder led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Gulfstream’s $60,000 James H. Kyle Stakes on Saturday, leading from the start, turning back a challenge on the turn and cruising to a 1-1/2 length victory over Galleon Mask (April ’15) with Forever Mo (April ‘18) a neck back in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Overdriven, a two-time OBS graduate, purchased out of the Summerfield consignment at the 2015 Winter Mixed sale and then sold for $65,000 by Omega Farm, Agent, at the 2016 April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video

Jerry Caroom’s High On Gin broke his maiden at first asking in August and returned to work on Saturday, coming from well off the pace to score by two lengths in his stakes debut in the $60,000 Happy Ticket Stakes at Louisiana downs. The 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Fury Kapcori, a two-time OBS graduate went through the ring at the 2018 October Sale before he was sold to Mr. Caroom by GOP Racing Stable Corp., Agent, for $7,500 at the 2019 June Sale after an Under Tack Quarter in :21 2/5.
