The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2019 October Yearling Sale is now available via the OBS website at www.obssales.com. The online catalog’s main page contains a link to a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed. Advanced search and filter capability has been added to allow shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using the new features can be found in the index header.
The iPad version of the catalog can be accessed via the equineline Sales Catalog App. The App allows users to download and view the catalog, receive updates and results, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. There are 204 yearlings (Hip No.’s 1 – 204) cataloged for the Selected Yearling Sale. Scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th, it will begin at 12:00 noon. Once again, walking videos of the Selected yearlings will be available on the website and the iPad version beginning on or about September 23rd. There are 393 yearlings (Hip No.’s 301 – 693) cataloged in the Open Yearling Sale, set for Wednesday, October 9th, getting under way at 10:30 a.m.
Supplemental entries are now being accepted for both the Selected and Open Sales through Friday, September 20th. Supplements to the Selected Sale will be sold Tuesday and cataloged beginning with Hip No. 205. Open Sale supplements will be sold Wednesday, cataloged starting with Hip No. 694. OBS Yearling Sale graduates are right at home in racing’s elite levels, in the winners’ circle at the Kentucky Derby (G1), Preakness (G1), Breeders’ Cup, Ascot and in Dubai, Korea and Japan. Winning throughout the world as well as coast to coast in North America, twenty-seven Yearling Sale graduates have surpassed the million dollar mark in earnings. The latest is Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables LLC and Bethlehem Stables LLC’s 2019 catalog cover boy World of Trouble. The 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Kantharos, who was consigned by Darsan Inc., Agent, to the 2016 August Sale, is currently on a streak of five straight stakes wins, the latest the $400,000 Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park in June. Trained by Jason Servis, he has won grade one races on dirt and turf, compiled a 13-9-2-1 career record and earned $1,263,300 to date.
World of Trouble shares the 2019 catalog cover with Rockingham Ranch & Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet, winner of the $2,500,000 Golden Shaheen (G1) at Meydan in March. It was the fifth graded stakes victory for the 7-year-old Florida-bred son of Kantharos, trained by Jorge Navarro, now 25-12-7-2 with earnings of $3,095,513. The newest star in the headlines is Amalio Ruiz-Lozano’s Ceci Valentina, winner of last Saturday’s $200,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Susan’s Girl Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Trained by Angel Rodriguez, the 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Prospective has two wins and a third in three starts and has earned $162,750. Heading into the big races in the fall, 98 Yearling graduates have won or placed in 212 stakes races since the beginning of 2018, with 49 posting 76 stakes victories. They have won or placed in 39 graded stakes, a list including the grade one Ashland, Bing Crosby, Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Carter, Golden Shaheen, Jaipur, Jockey Club Gold Cup, Santa Anita Sprint Championship, Test and Whitney.
The sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the Blood-Horse, DRF and TDN websites.
