Xitco’s Collusion Illusion is two for two and a graded stakes winner after circling horses on the turn in Saturday’s $200,351 Best Pal Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, getting to the lead in deep stretch and scoring by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Fore Left (March ’19) checked in third. The 2-year-old Florid-bred colt by Twirling Candy was purchased for $300,000 out of the Mayberry Farm consignment at the 2019 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Gary Barber’s Eyeinthesky turned into the stretch four wide in Sunday’s $100,000 Galway Stakes at Saratoga, battled her rivals down the stretch and was best by a head at the wire. That’s two stakes wins for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Sky Mesa, trained by Mark Casse, now 14-4-2-2 with earnings of $242,536. Lothenbach Stables’ Elusive Mischief stalked the leaders in the early gong of Saturday’s $100,000 Meadow Stable Stakes at Colonial Downs, took command a furlong from home and eased away to a one length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Into Mischief, a two-time OBS graduate, purchased out of the Michael & Julia O’Quinn consignment at the 2016 Selected Sale of Yearlings and then resold for $350,000 by Randy Bradshaw, Agent, at the 2017 April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Julian De Mora, Jr. and JN Racing Stables’ First Deal sat wide just off the pace in the early going of Sunday’s $76,500 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth, rallied down the middle of the track before taking command late and drew away to a 3-1/2 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Admiral Lynch (March ’18) settled for third. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Turbo Compressor, trained by Jorge Navarro, leaving him with an 8-5-2-1 record and $128,905 in earnings.
