Merriebelle Stable LLC’s Viva Vegas picked up her first stakes victory in the $100,000 Indiana General Assembly Distaff Stakes on Saturday at Indiana Grand, swinging wide for the drive after saving ground early, taking over in the stretch and easing away to a two length win. The graded stakes placed 5-year-old mare by The Factor was sold for $190,000 by Kim Harrison (Top Speed Farm), Agent, at the 2015 OBS Winter Mixed Sales. Trained by Ignacio Correas, IV, she’s now 25-4-6-3 and has earned $243,585 to date.
Mens Grille Racing’s Ghoul’s Night Out tracked the early leaders in Sunday’s $75,000 Jameela Stakes at Laurel, closed steadily when set down for the drive and was up in the final yards to score by a neck. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper, trained by Hamilton Smith, leaving her with a 23-5-7-3 career record and earnings of $238,481. That’s four stakes wins for the 4-year-old daughter of Oratory, who sped a quarter in :21 flat at the 2017 OBS June Sale Under Tack Show prior to being purchased for $50,000 out of the Stephens Thoroughbreds consignment.
