Oscar Diaz’s Mishegas was much the best in the $77,500 Invitational Cup Stakes, taking over on the far turn and drawing off to a 10-1/4 length victory although well in hand in the final yards. The 5-year-old gelding by Include, a multiple graded stakes winner in Puerto Rico, is trained by Jose D. Velez and has compiled a 31-11-4-5 career record and earned $375,316. Monarch Stables’ Bye Bye J tried stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $75,000 House Party Stakes. She tracked the leader into the stretch, took over a furlong from home and eased away to a two length victory. The 2-year-old daughter of Uncaptured was sold for $21,000 by Perrone Sales, Ltd., Agent for McDowell Farm, at the 2017 OBS Winter Mixed Sale. Trained by Ron Spatz, she’s now 3-2-0-1 and has earned $73,105 to date.
Bloom Racing Stable’s graded stakes placed Henley’s Joy relaxed off the pace in the early going of the $75,000 Pulpit Stakes, moved to the leaders at the top of the stretch, took command leaving the eighth pole and drew off to a 4-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Kitten’s Joy, now 5-3-1-0 with $352,960 in earnings for trainer Mike Maker. He turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5 before he was purchased for $50,000 out of the Cary Frommer consignment at the 2018 April Sale. watch his under tack video
Pichi Investments LLC’s Zenden is two for two and a stakes winner after sitting just off the lead in the $75,000 Buffalo Man Stakes, taking over turning for home and winning by two lengths despite drifting wide down the stretch. A 2-year-old son of Fed Biz, he breezed a quarter in :20 3/5 before he was sold for $47,000 by Potrero Stables, Agent, at the 2018 OBS June Sale.
