OBS graduates are off to a fast start at the races, with three youngsters winning at first asking on Thursday.
At Keeneland, two OBS grads trained by Wesley Ward ran his baby race winning streak to ten, scoring in 4-1/2 furlong Maiden Special Weight tests. In the fourth race, Ten Broeck Farm’s Mucho Amor led all the way and scored by a neck. The daughter of Mucho Macho Man was purchased by Ben McElroy out of the Halcyon Hammock Farm consignment for $260,000 at the recent OBS March Sale after speeding an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
Two races later Breeze Easy LLC’s Shang Shang Shang led from start to finish en route to a 2-1/4 length victory. The Shanghai Bobby filly is a two time OBS graduate, sold by Summerfield at the 2017 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased at OBS March by Breeze Easy for $200,000 out of the SBM Training & Sales consignment after also turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. watch her under tack video
At Gulfstream Park, it was Monarch Stables’ Bye Bye J, trained by Ron Spatz, coming from just off the pace to take a 4-1/2 furlong Maiden Special Weight dash by three quarters of a length. The filly by Uncaptured, the first winner for her sire, was sold to Frank Bertolino for $21,000 by Perrone Sales at the 2017 Winter Mixed Sale.
