OXO Equine’s Instilled Regard sat just off the early leaders in Saturday’s $200,000 Lecomte Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds, moved to take command after straightening away in stretch and drew away late to win by 3-3/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Snapper Sinclair (April ’17) settled for third. It’s the first stakes score for the 3-year-old colt by Arch, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, now 5-2-2-1 with $228,000 in earnings. Consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, to the 2017 OBS March Sale, he sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before being purchased by OXO Equine for $1,050,000. watch his under tack video
OBS graduates accounted for two other stakes victories on Saturday at Fair Grounds.
Thomas Van Meter II and Scott Dilworth’s Tower of Texas rallied to reach contention in the stretch of the $125,000 Colonel E. R. Bradley Handicap, ran past the leaders inside the final sixteenth and eased away to win by a length and a half. That’s four stakes wins for the 7-year-old gelding by Street Sense, consigned by Mc Kathan Bros., Agent, to the 2013 OBS March Sale, where he turned in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 28-7-8-5 for trainer Roger Attfield, he has earned $890,989 to date. watch his under tack video
In the $75,000 Marie G. Krantz Memorial Stakes, Carl R. Moore Management LLC and Brad Grady’s Mom’s On Strike closed with a rush to take the lead a furlong from home and held on gamely to win by half a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of First Dude, now 12-4-4-1 for trainer Joe Sharp with earnings of $247,950. A two-time OBS graduate, she was consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, to the 2014 August Yearling Sale and then breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before she was purchased for $75,000 out of the Best A Luck Farm consignment at the 2015 April Sale. watch her under tack video
