Exline-Border Racing LLC, Gatto Racing LLC & Garrett Zubok’s Giant Expectations was overlooked at 13-1 going into Tuesday’s $300,000 San Antonio Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita, but the 4-year-old colt by Frost Giant took the lead at the start and was never headed, cruising to a 3-1/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Collected (March ’15) rallied to finish third. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 2015 OBS March graduate, purchased for $135,000 by Ryan Exline out of the de Meric Sales consignment after turning in an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Rockingham Ranch & Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet went right to the lead at the start of Saturday’s $100,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, set rapid fractions into the stretch then held on gamely to win by half a length. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Kantharos, a nine length winner of the Mr. Prospector (G3) in 2015. Trained by Jorge Navarro, he has compiled an 18-7-6-2 career record and earned $860,053 to date. The two time OBS graduate was first consigned by Two Sharp Hats to the 2013 Winter Mixed Sale before they sold him for $56,000 at the 2013 August Selected Yearling Sale.
