Zilla Racing Stables’ Celtic Chaos was wide in the early going and around the turn in Thursday’s $100, 000 John Morrissey Stakes at Saratoga, then rallied down the stretch and got up in the final yards to score by a neck. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Dublin, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, now 19-6-4-3 with $380,780 in earnings. Consigned by King’s Equine, Agent for Spendthrift Farm, to the 2015 OBS April Sale, he was purchased for $55,000 by Zilla Racing after breezing an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video
Earlier in the afternoon at Saratoga, George Yager’s Sly Roxy made her debut in a muddy 5-1/2 furlong $83,000 maiden special weight test, originally carded for the turf course. The 2-year-old daughter of Speightstown tracked the leaders to the turn, moved up to take command turning for home, then drew off down the stretch to a 5-1/2 length victory. Consigned by Harris Training Center LLC, she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before going through the ring at the 2017 OBS March Sale. Trained by Mark Casse, she earned $49,800 for her effort. watch her under tack video
