Midwest Thoroughbreds’ Quijote led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Saturday’s $100, 000 Big Drama Stakes at Gulfstream Park, pressing the pace with fellow OBS graduates Mo Cash (June ’16) and French Quarter (January ’12) into the stretch. The 4-year-old Florida-bred son of Pomeroy took charge a furlong from home and drew off to beat Mo Cash by two lengths with French Quarter settling for third. His first stakes victory leaves him 13-5-4-0 with $230,200 in earnings to date for trainer Armando de la Cerda. Pappas Racing’s Moonless Sky was awarded victory via disqualification in Sunday’s $125,690 Fran’s Valentine Stakes at Santa Anita, rallying to finish second despite traffic problems caused by the first place finisher. She’s now 7-3-2-2 with earnings of $147,010. It was the stakes debut for the 4-year-old daughter of Bold Chieftain, and her third straight victory for trainer Eddie Truman. She was purchased for $4,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
