Martin S. Schwartz’s High Ridge Road scored her first graded stakes win on Saturday at Laurel, circling horses on the turn to reach contention and then getting up late on the outside to win the $300, 000 Barbara Fritchie Stakes (G2) by a neck, with fellow OBS graduate Clothes Fall Off (March ’14) checking in third. It’s the second straight stakes victory for the 5-year-old mare by Quality Road, who sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat before she was purchased for $350,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale. Romona S. Bass LLC’s Wild At Heart took charge of Santa Anita’s $200,000 Buena Vista Stakes (G3) turning for home and went on from there to post a 3-1/2 length victory, with fellow OBS grad Hillhouse High (March ’13) settling for third. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Indian Charlie, trained by Richard Mandella, now 11-3-4-2 and $331,305 in earnings. Pinnacle Racing Stable and Norman Stables’ Moment of Delight led from gate to wire and took Gulfstream’s $60,000 White Pearl Stakes by a neck over fellow OBS graduate Distina (March ’14, August ’13). That’s four stakes wins for the 5-year-old Florida-bred mare by A. P. Warrior, sold for $58,000 to Pinnacle Racing by Southern Cypress Stable, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Miguel Barraza’s Tiger Blood picked up his first stakes win on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, pressing the pace from the start and easing away late to score by a length in the $96,800 Pelican Stakes, with fellow OBS graduate Sonoma Crush (June ’15) finishing third. The 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Cowtown Cat, trained by Darien Rodriguez, is now 9-4-1-0 and has earned $$115,302 to date. He was purchased for $4,500 out of the Journeyman Bloodstock (Brent & Crystal Fernung) consignment at the 2014 OBS August Sale.
