David Melin, Leon Ellman and Laurie Plesa’s Mr. Jordan relaxed just off the leaders in the $100,000 Millions Classic Preview Stakes at Gulfstream Park West on Saturday, moved to take charge a furlong from home then dew off to win by 3-3/4 lengths in a track record 1:42.52 for the mile and a sixteenth. Fellow OBS graduate Saraguaro (April ’14, August ’13) checked in third. It’s the fourth stakes win for the graded stakes winning 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Kantharos, trained by Eddie Plesa, and leaves him with a 17-6-4-5 record and $513,735 in earnings. Averill Racing LLC and CCF Racing Stable’s R Angel Katelyn stepped into stakes company for the first time in Gulfstream Park West’s $100,000 Juvenile Filly Sprint Stakes and handled the jump in class with ease, tracking the leader into the stretch then wearing her down and scoring by half a length. That’s two wins in three starts for the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of High Cotton, who breezed and Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before she was purchased for $50,000 out of the Craig L. Four Horsemen Racing Stable, Inc. and Lady Lindsay Racing Stables’ Sweetontheladies picked up his first stakes victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Juvenile Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park West, charging from off the pace, running past the leaders a sixteenth from home and scoring by three lengths over fellow OBS graduate Storming My Way (March ’16, January ’15). It’s the third win in four trips to the post for the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Twirling Candy, trained by Henry Collazo, now 4-3-0-0 with earnings of $119,342. Pinnacle Racing Stable and Norman Stables’ Moment of Delight took the lead at the start of Gulfstream Park West’s $100,000 Millions Distaff Preview Stakes and stayed there to the wire, holding off a late run by fellow OBS graduate You Bought Her (April ’12) by half a length. It’s the third stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by A. P. Warrior, who turned in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show before she was sold for $58,000 to Pinnacle Racing by Southern Cypress Stable, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale.
