Hip No. 69, a daughter of Stay Thirsty consigned by Ocala Stud was purchased by Stanley M. Hough, Agent, for $180,000 to top the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2016 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. The bay filly, who worked a quarter in :22 2/5 at Sunday’s Under Tack session, is out of stakes winner Broadway Gold, by Seeking the Gold, and is a half sister to graded stakes winners Broadway’s Alibi and Golden Lad.
Hip No.107, a daughter of The Factor consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, was sold to SAC Racing for $150,000. The bay filly, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at Friday’s Under Tack session, is a half sister to stakes winner Dad’s Crazy out of Charismatic Lady, by End Sweep.
Breeze Easy LLC paid $150,000 for Hip No. 204, a bay colt by Harlan’s Holiday consigned by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC, whose quarter in :21 flat was the co-fastest at the distance at Monday’s Under Tack session. He’s a half brother to grade one stakes winner Marylebone, out of Desert Queen, by Wavering Monarch.
Breeze Easy LLC also paid $150,000 for Hip No. 277, Yola Humor, a bay filly by Distorted Humor consigned by Omega Farm, Agent, Out of graded stakes placed Ex Caelis, by Fusaichi Pegasus, a half sister to stakes winner Le Rossignol. She breezed and Under Tack eighth in :10 flat.
Hip No. 7, a son of Stay Thirsty consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, went to Louis Linder, Jr. for $100,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who worked an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5, is out of Baltic Flier, by Fusaichi Pegasus, from the family of Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) winning OBS graduate Caller One.
Little Red Feather Racing went to $100,000 for Hip No. 63, a Bodemeister filly consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, who turned in an Under Tack quarter in :22 flat. Out of graded stakes placed Brief Bliss, by Navarone, the bay filly is a half sister to graded stake winner Hierro.
For the session, 135 horses grossed $3,427,000, compared with 151 selling for a total of $5,557,600 at last year’s first session. The average was $25,385 compared with $36,805 a year ago, while the median price was $15,000 compared to $18,000 in 2015. The buyback percentage was 36.6%; it was 25.6% last year.
The June Sale continues Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Hip No.’s 301 – 600 will be offered.
