It’s the first stakes score for the 3-year-old filly by Congrats, trained by Richard Baltas, now 4-2-0-0 with earnings of $155,400. BB Horses’ Sweet On Smokey picked up her first stakes win in the $75,000 What a Summer Stakes on Saturday at Laurel, taking over on the turn for home and easing away from there to a 2-1/2 length victory. The 4-year-old daughter of Succcessful Appeal worked a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show prior to the 2014 OBS April Sale before she was sold by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, for $20,000. Clark O. Brewster’s Bayerd rallied to take command of Saturday’s $60,000 Bonapaw Stakes at Fair Grounds a furlong from home and scored by a length over fellow OBS graduate Attain (January ’14, June ’13). That’s three stakes wins for the graded stakes placed 4-year-old colt by Speightstown, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 14-4-6-2 with $486,900 in earnings.
