Moirano, William Achenbaum, Monty Foss and Steven Wecker’s Extinct Charm scored his first stakes win on Saturday at Aqueduct, coming from just off the pace in the $98, 000 Damon Runyon Stakes and proving best by a neck in a four horse blanket finish. Fellow OBS graduate Taoiseach (April ’15) settled for third. The 2-year-old colt by American Lion was purchased by trainer Gary Contessa for $55,000 out of the Shooting Star Sales consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale after an Under Tack quarter in :21 3/5. The first stakes winner for his sire, he’s now 9-2-2-1 with earnings of $143,054 and being pointed for the 2016 OBS Championship Stakes on January 26th. watch his under tack video
J and J Stables’ Jewel of a Cat put her head in front turning for home in Sunday’s $75,000 Windley Key Stakes at Gulfstream then held off challengers on both sides down the stretch, winning by a neck. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Wildcat Heir and the sixth of her career. Trained by Carlos Vaccarezza, she’s now 23-6-7-2 and has earned $435,695 to date. She was sold for $40,000 by Bo Hunt, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
