Hip No. 439, a daughter of Tapit consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, went to Solis/Litt for an OBS record $1,900,000 to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The gray or roan filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at last Wednesday’s session of the Under Tack Show, is out of Silver Wolf, by Silver Deputy, a half sister to grade one stakes winner Corinthian.
The price surpassed the all-time OBS record of $1.8 million. The previous Spring Sale record was $975,000.
Hip No. 395, a son of Summer Bird consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, was sold to Frank Fletcher Racing Operations for $500,000. The chestnut colt, a half brother to graded stakes placed One More out of See Rock City, by Tapit, worked an eighth in :10 flat, co fastest at the distance at Tuesday’s Under Tack session.
Linda Rice, Agent, went to $420,000 for Hip No. 488, Tizsomethingroyal, a daughter of Tizway consigned by Randy Bradshaw, Agent. The bay filly, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at Wednesday’s Under Tack session, is out of Spanish Empiress, by Empire Maker, a daughter of stakes winner Miraloma.
Hip No. 330, a son of Uncle Mo consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, went to Jonathan Thomas, Agent for Repole Stable, Inc., for $325,000. The bay colt, who worked a quarter in :21 2/5 at Tuesday’s Under Tack session, is out of graded stakes placed Rhiana, by Runaway Groom, and is a half brother to graded stakes winner Behindatthebar.
Hip No. 581, a son of Here Comes Ben consigned by Rick Lopez Training & Sales, was sold to K. K. Eishindo for $310,000. The dark bay or brown colt, whose eighth in :10 flat was co-fastest at the distance last Wednesday, is out of Thundersnow, by Storm Boot, from the family of stakes winner Santiago Suzie.
Team D went to $300,000 for Hip No. 536, a son of Scat Daddy consigned by Cary Frommer, Agent. The chestnut colt, who breezed an eighth in :11 flat at the Wednesday Under Tack session, is out of Sunny, by Dixieland Band, a half sister to stakes winner Wake Up Kiss.
For the day, 152 horses sold for a total of $13,266,700, compared with 207 horses selling for a total of $15,916,500 at last year’s second session. The average price was $87,281, up 13.5% compared with $76,891 a year ago, while the median price was $50,00, gaining 11.1% over last year’s $45,000 figure. The buyback percentage was 28.9%; it was 14.1% last year.
