Rice’s Less Than Perfect dueled for the lead from the start of the $100, 200 Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on September 25, took charge at the top of the stretch and drew away to a 2-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Bourbon Cowboy (April ’14, August ’13). Saratoga Heater – P. R. Racing’s Saratoga Heater jumped into stakes company off a maiden win in August, went to the front in Saturday’s $150,000 Bertram F. Bongard Stakes at Belmont and was never headed, splashing to a four length victory over fellow OBS graduate Bullheaded Boy (June ’14). A 2-year-old colt by Temple City, he was sold for $100,000 by Grassroots Training & Sales, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after working an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. A pair of 2014 OBS March graduates won at first asking in Japan on Saturday, with Henny Swift winning a six furlong dash over the Niigata turf course and Wonderful Luster scoring over seven furlongs on the dirt at Hanshin.

Carpe Diem – WinStar Farm LLC and Stonestreet Stables LLC’s Carpe Diem, the $1.6-million co-sale topper at the 2014 OBS March Sale, came out running in his debut in an $83,000 maiden special at Saratoga on Labor Day, popping to the lead at the break, setting fast fractions on the lead and then responding when challenged in the stretch, pulling away to a 2-1/2 length victory. Cinco Charlie – William William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Cinco Charlie, the first graded stakes winner of the OBS graduate class of 2014, added Delaware Park’s $75,525 First State Dash Stakes to his resume on Saturday, taking over turning for home and then drawing away to an authoritative 4-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 2-year-old Indian Charlie colt, winner of Churchill’s Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) in June, leaving him with a 5-3-0-1 record and $159,422 in earnings. My Point Exactly – Pinnacle Racing Stable LLC, R. Norman, Roger L. Justice & H. Jack Hendricks’ My Point Exactly, fresh off a maiden special victory at Gulfstream in August, shipped to Louisiana Downs for Saturday’s $75,000 Sunday Silence Stakes, stayed close to the pace, closed with late rush and got up late to win by a neck. She took command at the start, cruised on the lead, opened up in the stretch, and then drew away to a convincing 9-3/4 length victory.
