Cecil N. Peacock’s Story to Tell took charge of Sunday’s $98,000 W. L. Proctor Memorial Stakes at Los Alamitos after turning for home and eased away to a 1-1/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Bluegrass Cat; he was second in last month’s Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes. West Point Thoroughbreds’ Empire Dreams was content to relax off the pace in Saturday’s $161,000 New York Derby at Finger Lakes, but circled the field on the far turn, rallied down the middle of track and rolled to a 2-1/4 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Patriot Act, consigned to the 2013 OBS April Sale by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, and sold to West Point for $35,000 after working an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5. Yukio Baba’s millionaire Best Warrior picked up his second graded stakes win on Sunday at Chukyo Racecourse in Japan, taking the Procyon Stakes (G3) (race video) by a neck. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Majestic Warrior, now 13-6-3-1 with earnings of $1,585,095.
